Guest Germanboy
Wow, we are in Europe! Southern Germany or France, I would say. The houses are great. BTW, for Northern Germany, try a very dark red brick colour and dark red tiles. That'll do the trick, and I would be able to defend the family farm against the capitalist hordes with their neo-classical assault textbooks ------------------ Andreas [This message has been edited by Germanboy (edited 02-22-2000).]

DesertFox
Your New Church looks way better than the "original" one, but the architecture of the church still is way off the line. Churches in Normandy and West-Europe are roundabout 700-1000 year old buildings and have to resemble the architecture of that time period, called the Romanik. To give you an idea about some, well nearly representative churches, hop to the URL below and have a look. The Körbitz church comes very close to the normanic architecture for village churches. http://members.aol.com/Borgisdorf/gebude.htm Helge ------------------ Sbelling chequed wyth MICROSOFT SPELLCHECKER - vorgs grate! - The DesertFox - Email: desertfox1891@hotmail.com WWW: http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Capsule/2930/
CoolColJ
Thank Thank Thank! You I've been high and low for some reference material for churches - Not a very clear view, and also the shape of the Church is fixed by BTS, so I can't change the Church all the much, I can add the bricks and windows that's all It doesn't look like they have STained Glass windows, right? Hey have got any sites for Normandy/France buildings? CCJ [This message has been edited by CoolColJ (edited 02-22-2000).]
DesertFox
CoolColJ You are welcome. This might be even more interesting for you. Take a tour and enjoy all those nice normanic buildings. http://www.etab.ac-caen.fr/ecauge/Dossiers/Cheminf/chemin.htm Helge ------------------ Sbelling chequed wyth MICROSOFT SPELLCHECKER - vorgs grate! - The DesertFox - Email: desertfox1891@hotmail.com WWW: http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Capsule/2930/
Guest Germanboy
<BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by CoolColJ: It doesn't look like they have STained Glass windows, right?<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> For some weird reason, stained glass windows did not respond well to incendiary bombing or HE exploding nearby. I wonder why that was . Seeing what usually happens to the church in CE, I don't think it would be realistic to have any windows after turn 1 Maybe you find this link helpful. http://www.hist-stadt.nrw.de/uk/allndx.htm At this link there are more medieval churches than you can shake a stick at. http://www.fortunecity.de/lindenpark/tannen/100/kirchen.htm An excellent site! Click on the blue links on the left and scroll to the bottom of the page it then loads. Lots and lots of pictures from all angles. Unfortunately for you the text seems is in German. All the churches are to the southeast of Berlin (CM2 ), but from what I have seen, they seem to be of a pretty universal type in the northern half of Germany. Also, have a look at this site http://www.normandy-tourism.org/gb/index.html not sure how much info they have, but there might be some. That is in English. This is the Yahoo category for religious buildings in France. There are 36 links in total, and I don't have the time to check them out. Happy hunting. http://fr.dir.yahoo.com/Art_et_culture/Arts_appliques/Architecture/Edifices_et_monuments/Religieux/ ------------------ Andreas [This message has been edited by Germanboy (edited 02-22-2000).]
Guest JonS
I wonder how buildings are placed on the map? Are they, for instance, placed on an otherwise flat piece of grass, or do they come with their own base. If its the latter then it might be possible to change the base texture to show little house surrounds like a garden, a few paths, dog house (i know, I know - won't be in 3D), etc, to break up the 'air-dropped village' look. Regards Jon ------------------ Ubique
CoolColJ
Jons basicly the buildings are 4 walls and a roof, onto which the textures are mapped onto, so no base for your gardens But your welcome to spray paint a "Kilroy was here" onto the walls Thanks for the links guys - I should have asked ya first! SAved me all my time looking through minatures wargaming building online catalogs ccj [This message has been edited by CoolColJ (edited 02-22-2000).]

Thomm
It will become increasingly harder for you to top yourself. Congratulations, Thomm
CoolColJ
Thanks for the compliments, you guys deserve the kudos too, for your research guidance! I'll be adding the proper side windows, a few battle scars, and maybe some of those creeper plants on the side, and a light for the front door! I'm making the textures available after I have the whole lot fnished, as I want the a whole batch to look right together. Basicly I just doing each texture up to 80-90% complete, and when I'm done, go back tidy them all up and then release it Thomm - as I said, I'm a "rookie" with computer graphics - I'm slowly improving as I go along, so maybe there is still more left in me yet! Plus I'm discovering new ways to do things in Photoshop, for better end results. ccj [This message has been edited by CoolColJ (edited 02-23-2000).]
