O/T World War 2 Film footage found

Recommended Posts

Guys:

I was up at my grandfather's WW2 division reunion this past weekend. While there I was given a VHS tape. When I returned I watched it and was absolutely amazed. Here was a copy of 16mm film footage that shows what GI's of the 70th Infantry Division did during the occupation in Germany from May 1945 - November 1945. I could not believe that this footage was shot. It goes on for an hour and is preceeded by Signal Corp combat footage of Allied troops fighting their way across Europe. It sets the tone for the occupation footage.

Now for the question. I'd like to get clips of these posted on the 70th Site and need to know where I can post realplayer files. Unfortunately my server can't handle the files.

Also, where can I get these clips transfered to Realplayer files? Any help is appreciated!

Well, first off, I think you'll need some kind of video card or TV card to make movie files out of the footage. I have an ATI TV Wonder card and can do that with it.

Then, I think you need to buy a RealPlayer product that will create your streaming video. However, check out their site, they may have a free downloadable that will do it.

I haven't done this before, but from my limited experience, I think this is how you'll need to do it.

Good luck,
