Historical Context

In the historical scenarios and operations will the game units---battalions,companies etc be designated as belonging to specifically named historical parent divisions or brigrades or will they remain anonymous.

In the scenario/operation briefings which appear first when you launch a game, the correct unit designations are shown for historical scenarios. In the game itself, units are identified by the ID tag (A-1, B-1 etc.) and each unit has a name. The name is usually the name of the leader of such unit, but can be changed to anything you like.

Of course this entirely depends upon the person that designs the scenario, historical or not, it is simple a question of how much info a designer has/wants to put into a scenario. I doubt that all the scenarios that come with the game will have all the units correctly named.
