malfuriouspete
Playing some quick battles and choosing which units to take part in battles, noticing that the unit cost for Panthers are more than Tigers. Looking at both regular and veteran units I would have assumed that Tigers being the more heavily armed and armored would have a higher unit cost value but apparently not. Were Panthers, overall, a better tank than the Tigers?
slysniper
They both have their strengths, As you stated, the Tiger is better armed, expecially if attacked from any angle other than the front. Firepower is close and against most things you are up against, the difference is not enough to weigh in. The tigers are just dead slow where as the panthers have the speed to make maneuver tactics much more usable and can be a great asset. So the issue is, how is the tank going to be used, a large map with a chance to move and position will find the panther to be the better tank possible. A small map where holding ones ground is important will be to the Tigers favor. When using equipment, the goal is to use the best item for the task, if not available then you use the next best thing. It is not which one is better, it is which can do what you need done the best. In QB's this can be a little challenging since you have some unknowns, but most players play settings they know so well they already know what the map will somewhat look like without even seeing it. They also know what the point value is able to provide the opponant, so they normally have a good chance of knowing what they are fighting against and will buy units to match up against that. A little pre purchasing study can help. You can always start a QB with the same settings and open up the opponants side and see what they are able to purchase. Just some thoughts.
