The future is coming! http://www.gamecenter.com/Pc/Previews/Of/ Good AI! Just imagine a WW2 version or mod... http://www.suppressivefire.net/Flashpoint.mpg From Beta Wish I could read this http://flashpoint.4players.de/index_149.html This says it all http://www.pcgamerweb.com/previews/pc/opflash.html Good interview http://www.ga-strategy.com/articles/interviews/fp1985.shtml Anyway for fans of Modernish warfare I'm looking forward to this! This is getting better than ever - CM of FPS !! Quote - How have you dealt with enemy AI? Ondrej: The hardest part of AI programming was to design AI so stat it is able to face player in non-frustrating way. It is very easy to create an AI which is able to shoot with deadly accuracy and aim in no time - but it gives feeling of combat against dumb but perfect machines. The goal we tried to achieve was to create an AI that has same weaknesses as human and is still challenging to play with - and the result is very satisfactory. One thing we are particularly proud is spotting model which consider not only object's size and camouflage, but also velocity of both target and observer and even hiding in patterns - you are much more visible in empty area that near trees. The spotting model also included noticing some indirect clues of enemy activity. For example if some patrolling unit hears shooting or sees other unit being killed it knows there must be some enemy near and starts reacting: first lies down to be safe, then looks around and if necessary searched for intruder. We were quite pedantic in AI tuning and we have many times improved most important parts of AI, especially attacking and moving schemes, until we got what we liked. We think we have created an AI that is able to face player on enemy side and to really cooperate with him on friendly side. The second is very important - because in Flash Point you do not have a feeling of super-hero trying to fight the whole enemy army. Marek: I told many times to our programmers that it is not an "artificial intelligence", rather an "artificial dumbness" when I was upset by some wrong decision of my AI brothers in arm or opponents. But honestly, I think they did an incredible job and our "artificial dumbness" is much more clever than highly acclaimed AI I was facing with in other tactical games. But what the AI really is now-a-day? Isn't it only a marketing slogan used for all of the games around? I think more important is good track finding, visibility algorithms and most of all, a concept that is trying to give a fair conditions to both the player and the computer units. If it takes the player 1 sec to point by the weapon, the same must be for the soldier-bot. If the player can see the soldier easily in some situation, the soldier-bot would do as well in such conditions. That's our concept. I think we are close to it but the result would never be perfect. Guest MantaRay
Wow, Kind of like Steel beasts meets Hidden and Dangerous with Project IGI Graphics. Looks incredible. I am really impressed with the way they did the sights on the M16. Looks like a game to watch. I heard about it a few months back, but had forgotten. Thx for the movie links. Guest KwazyDog
Yeah, it looks like it will be a fun one, Ive been keeping an eye on it for about a year now. I was hoping that it was going to lean more towards being a sim with realism being the focus, but from what Ive read theyve decided dumbed it down with aircraft controls, etc, being quite simple and infantry being along the lines of a first person shooter (I was hoping it would be more like Rogue Spear). This dosnt make it any less fun though, just different
Guest MantaRay
Looks like this will kind of make up for Codemasters dumping Navy Seals. The demo should be out after the new year and the game is expected to be done in May. In CM time, that is tomorrow Ray ------------------ When asked, "How many moves do you see ahead?", CAPABLANCA replied: "One move - the best one." New CM Site. In process of switching. Oh yeah bring your Geforce as T&L is out in force From what I have read, the AI has been noted by many in previews as outstanding!

von Schalburg
It looks like it's going to be a real blast, just my opinion.
Guest KwazyDog
I read an interview some time back, and the developers mentioned that they decided to make it simplier so it was accessable to a wider audience. They went through some of the way they did this. I dont think this is a bad thing though, a wider audience means there will be more players out there. Guest blitz
TriggerHappy, so you actually have played it??! What were your impressions of the beta? dumbed down or realistic? And how was the famed AI?
Sgt. Steiner
For Von Schalburg: If you're going to steal my signature line, at least get the spelling right. That's Panzerlied, NOT PanzerLeid, and further into the verse it's eiskalt der Nacht, not finster der Nacht. What the heck is that?

OsinO
Yah this game looks awesome. The main aspect that appeals to me is all the vehicles and how you can use them... Reminds me of Codename Eagle, a great game that never became very popular. It was based on WWII and allowed you to fly planes, blimps, drive tanks, trucks, etc.. It was a REALLY fun game. Just imagine it...you jump in a small car with your car, and speed away from a rumbling tank behind you...you floor it, and hope you get away before the tank sights you...but the tank stops..aims down the long stretch of road.....hehe you can imagine teh rest

Guest KwazyDog
Hi Guys, Dont take this the wrong way, but we have many off topic posts at the moment so Im going to lock this one up. We dont mind people giving other games a plug from time to time, but we'd rather not see several all at once Dan
