John Kettler
Mods, Wasn't quite sure where to put this, so if there's a better place, by all means move it there. All, Following 10 years of development, the US Army is on the verge of what could be called a mini revolution in ordnance, one that will do away with having to carry only two, not five, separate and distinct types 120 mm round on the ever evolving Abrams. If approved, the AMP will replace no fewer than four different types currently in use, leaving the M829A4 KE and the eventual M1147 AMP. This will be a huge boon from a logistics and manufacturing perspective, but it's probably best NOT to ask about cost per round of new vs old, never mind shelf life!Crazy Horse Company, first to fire the XM-1147 Advanced Multi-Purpose (AMP) roundhttps://www.sofmag.com/crazy-horse-company-first-to-fire-the-xm-1147-advanced-multi-purpose-amp-round/ Regards, John Kettler
John Kettler
Rats! Miswrote the critical part, said it backwards, then didn't catch it until now. What I was trying to say is that the XM-1147 (AMP) will do away with the need for the Abrams to carry five separate ammunition types, reducing it from 5 to 2.
