Editor for game in progress

Perhaps this has been discussed before. I do not get on the forum very often. It seems to me that their should be an ability to edit a scenario or operation while it is in progress. It would be really valuable to be able to extend the number of turns, provided more ammo or provide reinforcements. Sometimes a created scenario or operation does not play as anticipated by the creator and you might want to make a change without going back to turn 1. Sometimes the players are really enjoying the game and don't really want it to come to an end. Has anyone thought of creating such an editor?

Perhaps someone is getting their butts kicked and wants to tilt the odds in their favor. Add another platoon of Panthers? An extra 155mm spotter? A full reload of ammo?

While your idea has merit from a designer's POV, it would also lead to widespread cheating.

I am not sure why you expect the worst. I think more good might result than bad. I am not sure that the AI opponent would be offended by some editing. If you are smart enough to invent the editor I would think you are smart enough to do it in a way which would minimize cheating.

One way that this could work would be to have two seperate 'modes'(for lack of a better word) available for each scenario - an open version for testing, in which game parameters and forces are open to editting while in progress, and a final closed version much like a tournament save.
