jonp
All, What are adv/dis to using the main gun on a tank? Thx jonp
Scott C
Advantages: blows stuff up quite nicely. Disadvantages: uses up the ammo. Also, if friendly units are near the target, the main gun is more likely to hurt them as well. ------------------ Questions, comments, arguments, refutations, criticisms, and/or sea stories? jonp
Ok, I looked at my tank screen this is the ammo it has: 13h 20a 5s What does that mean? Also, when a unit is low on ammo, how do you stop him from firing? Thx
Scott C
13h = 13 rounds of HE (high explosive). Excellent against infantry, can be used to level buildings as well. 20a = 20 rounds of AP (armor piercing). Used for killing enemy vehicles, minimal effect on infantry. 5s = 5 rounds of smoke. Used for concealment and to block enemy lines of sight/fire. Other ammo types include c (shaped charge) used against vehicles by some types of guns and t (tungsten), a better version of AP. The Tactical AI is actually quite good at conserving ammo - when it starts to get low, it shoots less often. If you have close to a full load, but want to save it, try using the hide or ambush commands. ------------------ Questions, comments, arguments, refutations, criticisms, and/or sea stories? Mark IV
Isn't there a delay penalty if you order the main gun to tackle a soft target, and enemy armor shows up? You got HE up the tube and here comes a tank- you have to unload or shoot it out, then load AP, all while he draws his bead on you.
