John Kettler
While looking for the Finnish war film "1944: The Final Defence," I came across this documentary segment. The description says:The last one of the 88 Finnish wartime movies by the Finnish Defence Forces. This one was actually never released nor approved for public performance as the war had come to its end in Sept 1944. This film depicts the operation of the Finnish Artillery which is in the words of the film "world-renowned for its accuracy". Note: the Petäjä-Nenonen method that "virtualized" a single observer into instantly controlling the fire of an unlimited number of real-life batteries at different locations was classified at the time, even to the Germans. The young soldier boy "Seppo" in the clip is real, his name is Nestori Lindström and he was 13 years old in the clip. I read he is now deceased. Those of you interested in theFinnish end of WW II may find the http://sa-kuva.fi searchable data base of over 200K Finnish WW II pics and films useful.Regards,John Kettler
