Deepstuff123
I have a question regarding setup zones. I'm putting a scenario together and I'd like the opponent to have variable setup zones so when I play the computer AI I won't know exactly where they are. Any way to do this? I "deploy" the forces from the Units section. With the AI section I've set different setup areas, but every time I start a battle the enemy forces are exactly where I deployed them. Would prefer to have them deploy randomly into the 5 possible setup zones I selected in the AI section with each battle. Also, doing Quick Battle against the computer the enemy forces are always bunched on the left side of the screen. I've tried changing this but they are always starting in the same location during Quick Battles. Any way to have them spread out across their setup zone in a Quick Battle? Thanks
kohlenklau
Check in the map editor and make sure the colored (as applicable, red or blue) overall set up zone totally encompasses all your different AI plan variations (yellow squares). I think that is the trick to solve your snag.
Michael Emrys
Also, doing Quick Battle against the computer the enemy forces are always bunched on the left side of the screen. I've tried changing this but they are always starting in the same location during Quick Battles. Any way to have them spread out across their setup zone in a Quick Battle? Are you checking them before playing the first turn? That's when this occurs normally. If you play the first turn and then check, you should see them deployed more rationally into their orders groups. Michael
A Canadian Cat
Yeah I have been burned by this before. If you play in scenario author test mode during your setup you will see the OPFOR setup as you deployed them not as the AI plan suggest. If you advance one turn like magic they will shift. When I discovered this I kept stopping and staring the scenario because I kept thinking I had some how turned off the wrong AI plan or not copied the file where I intended. Finally I was just annoyed and pressed the BRB and everything suddenly was right with the world. Felt like a dolt.
kohlenklau
But if you don't give them a yellow square for AI plan set-up then they stay where you deployed them. Which then of course means one or 2 will move after BRB because you left a yellow square or 2 on there...!
Deepstuff123
Thanks for the help with this. i tried it last night and it worked. I waited until after the first turn, then selected "cease fire" to verify where the enemy positions were, and they changed randomly from battle to battle. Thanks again.
