Laser designator spam

This has been discussed in at least two other threads.

The answer is maybe, but it's not that simple and is a bad idea for the infantry.

These systems aren't meant to go off from something as simple as a laser pointer. The lasers for targeting or MBT rangefinding are powerful and distinct, so you'd need to have a comparable system with you. While this would still be man portable, it is extra gear.

But then you face a bigger problem when you realize these systems usually (and eventually all will) tell you where you're being lased from. So now the tank knows where you're hiding from, pointing a laser at him and you don't have anything to hurt it with (otherwise you wouldn't need or use this system).

I think you can see where that path goes.
