Here is the War through the eyes of a soldier whose war training apparently began in 1943 at Fort MacArthur, San Pedro, California. I am quite familiar with the coastal gun positions there, the reenactments and the museum. Many of the WW 2 era barracks are still there, too.

The letters, telegrams and radiograms are in reverse order.
