JohnW
Very nice Arzok! I hope you add it to the Eastern Wind MOD. Did you convert the tanks from TOW1?
Arzok
Thank you ! Oberleutnant converted the tanks from TOW 1 (Russian and German tanks for the years 39-41) I will prepare an english version of his mod. Then, if we can add a map from TOW 1 with these units, it would be very nice ! The work is progressing well !
JohnW
I have not been able to open TOW 2 map images in Gimp or Photoshop. Am I missing something? TOW1 maps work well.
Gnasher
Arzok, I'd be interested to know how you convert the TOW1 maps as the method I have been using is very inefficient. Gnasher
Arzok
I am not sure that my method is very efficient I open the file 'actors' of the map I want to import. Then you can see in this file which statics are used by the map. I import only these one (for the first map of course). But if the statics are not already extracted by the filelist, you need to do it, it can be a long process. But by proceding maps by maps, it is less boring ! I did this for Rovno, but Radmir did it better than me, so I will take his map/statics.
Arzok
The same mission with the statics from Radmir :
Arzok
I have not been able to open TOW 2 map images in Gimp or Photoshop. Am I missing something? TOW1 maps work well. Which type of image ? I have also pb for some of them
JohnW
The maintex.tga and farmaintex.tga files. I just tried the clear map from TOW2 Africa. The maintex.tga and farmaintex.tga files will open in Gimp for this map. There must be something different about the files from the original game maps. Arzok
As I have the french version of TOW 1, I need all the text.utf8 files in the folder Theatre of War\Missions\USSR to make the english version of the TOW 1 campaign for TOW 2. Can someone prepare them for me ?

Arzok
Arzok, I'd be interested to know how you convert the TOW1 maps as the method I have been using is very inefficient. Gnasher Can you explain more your problem ? Is the problem for statics or for the map itself ? As for the map, it is quite easy for me  I just modify the file load.ini
JohnW
Is that all you have to do to convert a map from TOW1 to TOW2 Kursk? Just use a TOW2 Kursk type load.ini file? I like the option to change the water elevation.
Arzok
Yes, but you will have no statics, no road, no trees. But you will have the "backround", elevation... To import statics is not so difficult, but it needs a lot of time.
Arzok
Here is the beta version of the prototype of our new mod (Mainly Radmir and me). It contains : +a small mod v4 by Arzok +TOW 1 russian and german units (1939-1941) by Radmir +TOW 1 statics, mainly for the russian campaign by Radmir +The first 3 TOW 1 maps of the russian campaign, by Radmir +TOW 1 USSR campaign, the first 3 missions By Arzok It needs TOW2-Kursk-Caen and Almost_Eastern_Wind_1_5_5_v_3_en only ! It is only a beta version, so Maps have just few trees, statics are not completed, and perhaps some name are missing (in the english version). It is just to test if all files are in the archive, if there is no crash ! So please, if someone can try to install it and to play the first 3 missions  If it works, and if some players want to help, it can be continued... ftp://ftp.reseau-js.com/sudden/TheatreOfWar/Almost_Eastern_Wind_complement_1_0.rar I would like also to thank Knokke, for his patience with my questions ! JohnW
It loaded with JSME. The new Russian and German tanks can be seen in the encylopedia. I see the campaign with 3 battles but have not played it yet. This is a significant addition to the game! Thank you for your time and work. PS: le Tour is in the Pyrenees! Wish I was there! JohnW
Played the first battle. It crashed during the first attempt, but that may have been due to me or my computer. The second attempt went well. I was surprised because the germans attached from a different direction to a different location!
Arzok
Fine ! All files are in the archive And the map with tow 1 statics is working well. For the missions, there are some random attacks, so Germans don't always come from the same point Thank you for the feedback ! As all is OK, I will try to put more trees...
