im trying to mess around with the terrain elevations in the map builder

anyone got a handle on doing this yet?

im having issues sculpting the landscape in an easy manner

cant quite get the hang of raising/lowering sections of the map as opposed to the whole map

ie,trying to make valleys and hill sections

tips anyone?

To practice try this -

Use a blank map and place a line of tree's across it.

Then place a line of level 22 dots on the tree line.

Then place a line of level 16 dots 5 squares to the south of the tree line.

Then place a line of level 16 dots 5 squares to the north of the tree line.

You now have a crest line with tree's on it. :)

To make a hill -

Blank map again and place a group of tree's on it- say 10.

Around the group of tree's place level 20 dots.

10 squares further away place another ring of level 10 dots

You now have a small hill. :)

Also look at other peoples efforts with the editor and you will soon get the hang of it.

Practice makes perfect or so Im told.

ok maybe ill try and be more specific

map base starts at 20

i cant seem to raise a line to 22 without the whole map raising to 22

any hotkeys?

like the ol CM1 had shift and ctrl functions for this purpose

can you brush elevation sections like CM1?

can you set a brush size?

if someone could explain how to raise a square section of map say 10x10 section please?

All I can suggest is look at a map you like in the game with the editor and see how the terrain hight dots were placed and then its alot of practice.

Thats the way I figured it out, the map warps in relation to the hight dots.

As far as I know there are no easier way to do the hight markers other than use direct adjustment, I find it the easiest.

simmox,

Just click "Direct" and draw a contour line. Then change the elevation of your next contour line and draw that. Anything in between that will even out between the two contours. If you want a flat area, then make two contours of the same elevation and everything in between would be the same.

There would be no need to use a larger brush. ;)
