CMBB special ed. reboot issue

Recommended Posts

Aye, my system should be able to handle it, Athlon XP2000, G-force 5200 128mb card, 512 ram, 19 inch .25 dot monitor. It ran the CMBB regular just fine, saw the special ed. for $10, so got it for the xtra scenarios, mods and stuff. Deleted regular edition before i installed special edition.

If you install the 'regular' edition will it still work with your current setup (you may want to reinstall it again - at least temporarily) ? You may also want to delete the Special Edition install and reinstall it (but perform a CHKDSK first to make sure there are no file system problems).

You have to use the Special Edition CD in order to play CM if you install that version. The method of copy protection is different and thus you have to use that CD when playing the Special Edition.

Did you apply any patches before running the game or did you just run it as it was installed from the CD ? I can't recall off-hand, but the Special Edition may be version 1.03 of CMBB and thus probably doesn't need a patch if you did apply one.

I'm not sure if Event Viewer will catch a BSOD or not. You can check it out at Start Menu > Control Panel > Administrative Tools control panel > Event Viewer > the System or Application category may have a listed event for your crash.

I'd also highly suggest closing down antivirus programs, internet chat clients and anything else (utilities, etc.) that may be running in the background while you attempt to launch CM.
