Cpl Carrot
I have just got computer back from getting a new MB/CPU/GFX Card/HD. When playing CM however the mouse pointer no longer works correctly. Instead of using the tip of the pointer to pick the item, you have move it to above and to the left of the item. This only happens in CM (selecing units, chosing email files etc). Does any one have any ideas why this is happening and what can be done? My mouse BTW is a Genius scroll mouse Regards Cpl Carrot

Schrullenhaft
This may be an issue/feature of the Genius mouse drivers or it could be a 'mouse scheme' problem. Make sure that you're using the Windows/Default/None setting for your mouse cursor scheme. Animated cursor schemes could corrupt the cursor (though I don't think they cause the problem that you're experiencing). You can download the latest mouse drivers from Genius. I don't specifically which one may be your model. You may also want to try a more generic driver to see if that clears up your problem. Generally a generic driver should continue to support the scroll function, but it may not have all the adjustments or other features of the Genius drivers.
Cpl Carrot
I am using the basic mouse pointer. I have installed the latest driver from Genius to no avail. The problem only seems to appear in programs that use a windows pointer. Games like Icewind Dale work fine.
Schrullenhaft
Do you only have this problem in CM or do you have it in other programs that use 'standard windows cursors' ? From what little I could tell Icewind Dale runs in OpenGL rather than DirectX and this may be a difference in the mouse behavior between the two games. Perhaps you need to uninstall the Genius mouse drivers and use ones that come with Windows itself (i.e. - a Microsoft PS/2 mouse, etc.).
Cpl Carrot
As far as I can tell, it works fine with other games (Stategic Command and Stars!). I have uninstalled the driver and it seems to be working OK now - though I have lost the scolling ability
