  1. I thinking about a cast iron rolling pin, about 20 feet in diameter. I'm still in the design phase on that ....
  2. I was wondering if they retreated a little to easily, not that I blame them. Not exactly a modern day charge of the light brigade.
  3. As devastating as the Hamas attack was, now imagine if they could produce thousands of these types of drones! Definitely a "destabilizing" type of weapon for the world.
  4. Even if 1 in a 100 shells blew up in their faces I still think the Russian high command would deem that an acceptable loss ratio. Human lives are as cheap as a shot of vodka to them.
  5. To me this might be a test to see how many reserves Russia still has left. I don't know how many men they need to get across before it becomes more than a nuisance but at some point it will become a major problem.
  6. To lose 9 helicopters in one night? I hope they were all parked real close together ... it would make it more satisfying. So now the US leadership is worried about a Russian fall offensive? We should be thankful for it and that it works as well as their Bakmut one last winter. Although I do worry about Ukraine losing the initiative, and of course Jim Jordan becoming speaker of the house.
  7. I was kinda hoping for a big explosion at the end, oh well .... I overestimated their abilities I guess.
  8. I never liked McCarthy that much. On Jan 6th he's railing against Trump then two weeks later he's down in Mar-a-Lago kissing butt? That's not exactly leadership. Yet if Jim Jordan becomes the new speaker then McCarthy might look a lot better. I just wish the Gaetz pro Putin republicans would get marginalized. The rest of the republicans should work with the democrats to find somebody tolerable. I just think we come out of this with a worse speaker than before....sad
  9. 13,000 Ukrainians massing for a crossing of the Dnipro? That supposedly is what Rybar reported. Did anybody else hear of anything like that? Not sure if I believe it but that sure would be an attention getter. Maybe I've watched A Bridge Too Far's river assault at Nijmegan too many times, but I keep wondering what the end game is for what's been happening across from Kherson. You'd figure the Russians have pulled out some forces there to shore up their lines up north.
  10. How is anyone supposed to sleep anywhere near the front lines? Almost seems unfair ... oh well ... they could always go home if they don't like it.
  11. Seems like the Ukrainians have preserved their Leo's by keeping them back and using them to snipe at positions. I wonder if that's the future of the tank? Just use them like a well armored self propelled gun of sorts. I guess the game changes when a major break thru occurs.
  12. When you see those cluster munitions go off in a big circle like that it seems to me that it's dispersal is too big, but then I figure I'd be full of holes if were standing in the middle of that circle. Hard to tell though. Probably need to ask some Russians.
  13. How about a lengthy IRS audit? The only thing I could think of for Musk. Unfortunately he's turning into Dr. Evil.
  14. I'm going to assume this offensive falls short for this season. What I worry about is can Russia then rebuild another defensive line that is as strong as the one they built last winter? They must've laid hundreds of thousands of mines, and used all kinds of materials and men to build trenches, dragons teeth, etc. Their supplies can't be unlimited. Now if they only have to build new lines around the "dents" in their original lines then it's far more feasible.
  15. Oh but Putin will still have his food, prepared by a different chef of course.
  16. I agree that it's probably closer to the Ukraine number. Another way to look at it is how Russian is pulling out old T-55's from storage. If they're using those now then they've probably lost a lot of tanks, whether it can visually be proven or not.
  17. Seems like ever since Ukraine received cluster munitions that things have picked up for them. I heard an analyst say the Ukrainians are even using them to help clear minefields? I didn't think that was what they were designed for? Anybody else hear anything along those lines? I hope it's true. Seems like the Russian line is cracking. I think the next few weeks will be very telling in how this campaign season ends up.
  18. Some western reporter made a good point in that some Ukraine officials believe that after they get completely thru the first main defense line that the roads will be far less mined. They believe that because they constantly see Russian trucks moving up along them from the second line to the first. Obviously the roads must be clear there. The roads leading from the starting point in the offensive to the first line were a different story, but then no Russians would have been worried about driving on them. And they had several months to lay the mines too. So hopefully they won't have as much time as they get pushed back.
  19. Yeah, that was an odd comment from the US. With drones getting better and better I've almost wondered if that recon patrol stuff was getting a bit obsolete.
  20. I was kinda wondering about that lately. How far do they have to penetrate towards the sea of Azov before it really causes problems. A more realistic objective for this campaign might be capturing Tokmat.
  21. Does kinda have that Hitler killing Rommel feel to it. Except German people were ignorant as to how Rommel died. Not so much of a secret this time. Can't do anything but hurt morale.
  22. Another mobilization would tell the world that Ukraine is winning the war. To me it would be a positive sign although nobody wants to see more Russians at the front. Putin won't lose Crimea without another call up or two. Good thing Ukraine has lots of cluster munitions to use now. By the way I've read that Russians are using wood to cover their trenches because of these cluster munitions. I thought those things were also good against armored vehicles? Can wood really do anything for protection?
  23. No, if you take a shot at the boss then take the train...
  24. I love these drone attacks on Moscow. Like miniture Doolittle raids to let the enemy civilization know they aren't exactly untouchable. Psychology is important. Like capturing Bakmut would also be a big news blow back in Orc-land. I'd also like to see a couple Armata tanks get blown to pieces as well.
  25. I agree 100 percent. If the democratic party suddenly turned into an anti Ukraine "let's spend our money on schools instead of war" type of party then those republicans would flock into supporting Ukraine. They just will not agree with the other side on anything. That's the state of US politics right now. As much as I dislike Mitch McConnel I give him props for never faltering against Russia's aggression.
