Unfortunately, for the last many minutes Democrats and Republicans of the Rules Committee are now bickering over who is most to blame, Trump or Biden, for the miserable situation that brought them to this point in time, leading to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, not supporting Ukraine enough for the last two years, who should get credit for the aid to Ukraine up to this point, and who to blame for not getting Ukraine the recent support they need.

In this episode of the Need to Know, host John Milewski explores the evolving landscape of warfare shaped by unmanned aerial vehicles with his guest, Dr. Jack Watling. Dr. Watling is a Wilson Center Global Fellow and senior research fellow at the Royal United Services Institute. They discuss a new study, co-authored by Jack, that focuses on the impact of UAVs on land forces, drawing insights from contemporary conflicts like the one in Ukraine. From precision strikes to procurement challenges, this discussion navigates the complexities of adapting military strategies to technological advancements. It also provides valuable information for lawmakers who will be making funding decisions on weapons systems that are changing the way wars are conducted.

⚡️3 weather balloons with explosives were shot down over the Bryansk region⚡

The Russian Ministry of Defense reported the suppression of an attempt by the Kyiv regime to attack the Bryansk region with a new terrorist weapon - a group of weather balloons with explosives. Thanks to the competent work of the air defense, there were no casualties or destruction.

The day before, air defense forces in the Lipetsk region worked on the same flying object.

Essentially, a weather balloon is a converted disposable unmanned balloon filled with explosives that are released upon a signal.

This might all be true, however it's not the full picture.  I read a couple of articles last night that had Iran and military experts agreeing that Iran's attack was deliberately uncreative.  It was designed to send a message, not cause real damage.  The case made for this rings true for me after having watched what Russia's been doing to Ukraine for the last 2 years.  All the tricks of flight paths, mixes of different systems, timing, etc. we've seen Russia do were absent from Iran's attack.  They basically just lobbed them.

The point is that not only does Ukraine have a massive size and resource disadvantage against Russian attacks, but it also defending against an enemy that is trying hard for maximum damage.

  7. So his wording was subtle, emphasizing his meeting with Trump in Florida, preference for loans rather than aid, but also mentioning the proposed Repo act of taking money from Russian oligarchs to fund Ukraine's defense (about 1 minute 30 into the YouTube clip):

The situation on the Eastern Front has significantly worsened in recent days. This is primarily due to the significant intensification of the enemy's offensive actions after the presidential elections in the Russian Federation.

The enemy is actively attacking our positions in the Lymansky, Bakhmutsky directions with assault groups with the support of armored vehicles. In the Pokrovsky direction, he is trying to break through our defenses using dozens of tanks and BMPs.

This is facilitated by warm, dry weather, which has made most of the open areas of the area accessible to tanks. Despite significant losses, the enemy is increasing its efforts by using new units on armored vehicles, thanks to which it periodically achieves tactical success.

Therefore, the first day of my work in the area of the operation is dedicated to this direction and to taking all the necessary measures to stabilize the situation, increase the effectiveness of our troops' actions and inflict maximum losses on enemy units.

Based on the results of listening to the conclusions regarding the nature of the enemy's actions, decisions were made aimed at strengthening the most problematic areas of the defense by means of EW and air defense. Also, stocks of drones of all types, anti-tank missiles were replenished, additional reserves of forces and means were moved.

The question of achieving technical superiority over the enemy in high-tech weapons arose again.
Only this will give us the opportunity to defeat the larger enemy and create conditions for intercepting the strategic initiative.
The second serious problem is to improve the quality of training of military personnel, primarily of infantry units, so that they can make maximum use of all the capabilities of military equipment and Western weapons.

First of all, the solution of this task depends on the command of the Ground Forces, which has returned in full from the area of hostilities.

The results of my work will be taken into account in the training plans of the troops and governing bodies.

Of course, he honored the best warriors with awards and valuable gifts.
In personal communication with our servicemen, they discussed the current situation, as well as ways to solve all problematic issues. We are aware of the real scale and degree of threat from the enemy and are ready to take adequate and effective actions.

    We continue the work.
    Glory to Ukraine!
