  1. Indeed ! - I'd be curious to see how the more civilized/prudent members of the Forum think we are going to re-educate the Russians after their defeat in Ukraine to purge this incessant hatred and lack of guilt/responsibility for their uncivilized actions ....but that would be a distraction . I more interested in what is going on around Lyman right now .
  2. I mean I agree with your points to a degree - but there is one big difference between Russia and all those states who are now working towards more Western ideas of Democratic institutions . Russia has Nukes - and until those are removed how are we ever going to convince the Russians really to start playing nice again ?
  3. I mean , really , do you think you would have been arguing in this same fashion during WW2 with regards American policy towards Japan ? Why are you getting so queasy about not giving the Russians the same treatment ? Because Nukes ? As far as I can see the Russians are behaving no better than the worst of the SS Divisions or units of the Imperial Japanese Army . They slaughter civilians with pleasure , mine schools , target civilian populations without hesitation when they are able . They deserve the hangman's noose if caught and that includes all of the current Russian leadership .
  4. Forcing some dicey Russian defensive lines to fall back two rivers in one go . I meant if they pull this off this could be the beginning of a rout ?
  5. NATO vessels patrolling all pipeline areas and actively searching for Russian vessels . Time to crack open Command:Modern Operations
  6. Some ideas of possible ZFU Operational moves going forwards :
  7. The comedy is getting very very dark . Apparently Pedophiles and Perverts are in large supply in Russia - as well as the previously mentioned cannibals .... It's a pity its Fake subtitles !!
  8. If I was going to be possibly concerned about the use of tactical nukes - it would seem like a major offensive push by Ukraine now around Lyman would be the place they would do it ? Stall the Offensive push completely in that Area .
  9. Honestly I'm spending more time on Twitter right now following actual Military activity :
  10. Because it is in your best interests ? - Eastern Europe ... being In Europe after all and not attached to continental America
  11. You are becoming more and more defensive ....
  12. Doesn't All of Crimea's Water come in through this area ? Wouldn't an attack at this point essentially make Crimea uninhabitable ?
  13. So argument by Exception rather than General rule ? Fine . That has happened once in the last hundred years in Australia and it happened with the co-operation of many interested parties in Australia at the time - nothing at all to do with the Queen/Monarchy - and more to do with the Australian Senate . No one has yet tried this in NZ - there was an incident in 1926 in Canada which was controversial but again 1 event in the last hundred years worthy of note .
  14. One kind of imagines the ZSU is now getting to the point of being better / more efficient at operating a in-field army than most of the Nato members ... Hard experience knocks out a lot of the inefficiencies one imagines .
  15. You seem to have some misunderstandings as to how Elected Governments in the West work ? The Monarchy has no power at all - its there for the Tourists . The Prime Minister is always elected by members of his/her own party - works the same in all English based Parliamentary systems around the planet - You get to elect the party - not decide who is in cabinet . The House of Lords is really only a historical anomaly in the UK - and we commonwealth citizens generally like our History . This particular part of the British system has not really been copied over to AUS/NZ/CAN and elsewhere - but we do get our Honors lists - and people like them . Governments once elected are free to pursue whatever policies they like - but they do need to keep the electorates happy to some degree - since they are up for re-election again 3-4-5 years . A Elected Government which chooses to follow unpopular policies won't be in Government for long .
  16. Well ...yes ... obviously not an ideal solution at all . A time limited Expedient solution maybe that likely would cause further problems down the line ...
  17. Who used the word "irritate " first Steve ?
  18. Well as much as I enjoy someone taking the moral high ground .... you were the first to reach for the word "Irritate"
  19. Yeah I agree - you are starting to become irritating . And I think as a US Citizen - I'm paying for this not you ?
  20. Well sure and I bet it is also happening in the halls of Power in Ukraine - since they want to both become a Member of the EU and NATO ! . I personally feel we should be putting a lot more faith in the Ukrainians to do the right thing .
  21. You seem to be overlaying past experiences in the Balkans and Afghanistan atop this latest Conflict and saying the Ukrainians are not mature enough to decide themselves how to settle things in their own territory . Maybe give them some credit and assume they are not going to behave like the Russians ? .
  22. I think the inability of Russia to actually make use of these newly mobilized "troops" in a timely manner - or even the ability to equip /train them has already been discussed endlessly already hasn't it ? - and the consensus was .... It won't change anything on the battlefield ? Or do we now think there would be some actually military merit to flooding the front lines with untrained and unequipped bodies on the Russian side ?
