  1. Each game has its own merit but certainly at this point in time, CMBN appears to have by far the most content both in terms of modules (Commonwealth Forces, Market Garden, The Great Swan, additional Vehicles) and player's mods and scenarios numbering in the thousands of new graphics and hundreds of scenarios. When it comes to challenge, yes WWII would be easier than moderns and scenario design contributes a lot in terms of challenge and here mileage may vary.
  2. Programming AI responses to create a challenging, varied and enjoyable game takes many! more hours of time and testing than an H2H scenario. Many more hours. That said, anyone has always been welcome to use the Scenario Editor to modify any of my scenarios as they please including tinkering with play balance, making corrections, or converting more of the SP to H2H and those exclusively H2H to SP.
  3. Thank you for the kind words. Yes, playing with me is what I meant to say. You are welcome to chose the scenario and side. Since I am the author I also invite you to look at both sides of the scenario to be as well informed as I. Then we can set up a Dropbox share. Warning. I strongly suspect that my last two scenarios - Le Motey and Amfreville - Strike Two will be difficult for the American player. Silent Hunter III - GWX v3 Gold. But in near future hope to try the mod LSH3 2022.
  4. All scenarios are posted at the Few Good Men's site - Combat Mission The Scenario Depot III. https://www.thefewgoodmen.com/tsd3/
  5. Today I have re-posted all of the scenarios in my series "The 82nd Airborne in Normandy" and added the final three: "DeGlopper's Medal of Honor", "Le Motey", and "Amfreville - Strike Two!". The re-posting was necessitated by a renumbering of a portion of the series to place DeGlopper in the correct sequence and because I edited all the scenario text files to correct spelling, grammar and numbering errors as well as revising a few of the Special Rules. Unless stated otherwise in the Special Rules included with some of my scenarios, players should not pre-plot mortar or artillery fire on turn one when playing any of the scenarios. This ends my 82nd Abn. series which has focused primarily on the fight to secure the La Fiere causeway and the town of Amfreville with a sidebar to the south to cover Lt. Col. Shanley's stand on Hill 30. There were equally important actions going on east of the Merdert to secure St. Mere Eglise and hold it against German counter-attacks and the securing of the eastern end of the Chef-du-Point bridges and causeway. At this point I am retiring from scenario and map creation to redirect my time to completing modding an unfinished plastic model (Red Knight of Vienna), painting a few hundred 15mm samurai (I should life so long), playing some of my other favourite computer games - Silent Hunter III (modded), Samurai 2 Total War (modded), Scourge of War Waterloo (modded), Wings of Flanders Fields Between Heaven and Hell, CMFB, CMRT, CMFI ... too many and too little time left.. I may or may not get around to finishing reskinning the CMBN modular buildings and barns to look more Dutch. My backing off from modding CMBN does not mean that I am backing off from playing what has become my favourite game. Indeed, I would be very pleased if any of you would play any of the H2H scenarios which I have created. Happy gaming all.
  6. Hello JM: Thank you for your kind words. Certainly a series of scenarios about the Screaming Eagles would be a nice link between Utah beach and the 82nd further inland. However, after I complete the 82nd scenarios I will retire from CMBN map and scenario creation altogether, but not playing. Given my age, there are a few other hobbies on which I want to focus my time remaining. And I still have a few Dutch buildings I want to mod for CMBN
  7. Hello All: I am presently working on my final scenario in my series "The 82nd in Normandy". This past week I completed "DeGlopper's Medal of Honor" and "Le Motey" (pronounced moh-tay). The former is single player and the latter H2H. They will be posted when I complete the Amfreville scenario. The reason for the delay is that I will have to repost many of my previous scenarios in the series because they had to be renumbered to place the DeGlopper scenario in the correct sequence. I also reviewed all of the text files to correct spelling, grammar and numbering errors. I am posting this because I am seeking assistance gathering information for my final scenario. It is clear that the second attack towards Amfreville was conducted by 2/357, 90th Inf. Div during the afternoon of the 10th after the 1/357th's failed attempt in the morning, it is not clear if they had armor support. It is known from the PIR's reports that American armor crossed the La Fiere causeway about an hour after the infantry assault. However the few notes I have found from the 90th's after-action reports make no mention of armor support. Does anyone have any sources that can help me out? The problem is similar on the German side. I can find no information to clarify if the Germans moved up any A/Tk guns or if there was any German armor on the ground , like as StuG III's. Thank you in advance if you have any 'reliable' details.
  8. Your suggestion is perfectly good if they just want to modify existing topography and mod a map map within the CM product in hand. I understood, perhaps incorrectly, that the original poster wanted to 'extract' a topo data from existing scenarios for use in other CM products, eg. from CMBN to CMFI. This would require creating a special editor overlay. Maybe I am way off the rails.
  9. There is laborious way to extract height data from an existing CM map without performing going into Battlefront's code. 1. Open the map in the Scenario Editor 2. Optional: To make the next steps easier, remove ALL features from the map except roads and rivers, so all that remains is the ground. 3. Display a portion of it (start NW corner) at largest magnification 4.Select 'Elevation' mode to display the black box highlighted values that were used to create the maps contours (do not use the 'E' key method) 5. Take a screen shot/grab (I use either Fraps or the inherent Win10 Prt Scrn 6. Scroll around and repeat the foregoing until you have screen grabbed the whole map 7. Load the grabs into your favourite graphics program; I use the free paint.net 8. Reassemble the grabs into a single map. 9. modify the map to black and white only and save it as a .bmp file 10. Now the labour: Connect all the similarly numbered squares with smooth flowing black lines ('play connect the dot' ) 11. Pretty it up to taste (i.e. adjust any lines that seem odd) There you go. You now have a topo map which can be printed or saved as a 'special editor overlay.bmp' to use in any one of the CM series games.
  10. Yes, I've also noted that the text in CMBN does not accept any special vowel accents. Also had trouble with possessive apostrophes. Fixing the text is fairly easy. I think I'll have a read through all of the scenarios that I've created. Thanks for noting issues.
  11. Did you save both your and my moves? I did not.
  12. I would need whatever password you are using if that is okay with you. My intention is to "try" to make a short video of it after the fact or at least 'tell the story'. So I will create a written log of events
  13. Vacillator and RMM: If the two of you are going to play Gruppe Bohm to Le Rocher H2H, would you mind each copying your movement files to me? This would require creating and sharing a player password with me.
  14. I found the TRP's unnecessary for a pre-battle bombardment plot and they seemed unreasonable/unrealistic to use later on a pitch black night with limited vision.
  15. It should actually be Bohm with an uhmlaut but I don't know how to type uhmlauts in the CMBN text files. Re: TRFs. Just checked. Michael is correct. The current version of Gruppe Bohm to Le Rocher H2H the German player has no TRFs. I removed them after a play test. Sorry, I forgot.
  16. To move Gruppe Bohm's convoy, leave 10 second intervals between vehicles of the leading platoon starting. Leave more time if vehicles have to turn through the zig zags of the roads. And many vehicles should just stand still for 'a long time'. Do not attempt to move the whole convoy at once. Lead from the front and let the others wait for a needy time.
  17. Yup, that's Gruppe Bohm to le Rocher map. There are two separate versions, one Sp andone H2H.
  18. Maybe ... If you are making a dawn attack facing east or a dusk attack facing west, then does the program factor in the 'sun in your eyes'? If not, then truly map direction does not matter (much). I have also realigned maps to get a best possible fit for CMBN's constrained roads.
  19. I believe that is the same as Gruppe Bohm to le Rocher. I renamed it. If the map is 2 km x 4 km then it is the same.
  20. I believe it is the same as Gruppe Bohm to le Rocher. I renamed it. If it is on a 2 km x 4 km map, then that confirms it.
  21. I created multiple versions of the battles around Haut Vents. The one you have linked to here is a DASL conversion. I produced a much larger historically accurate scenario of Panzer Lehr's attack called "Gruppe Bohm to le Rocher". Besides that there is the 4 km x 4 km master map "Hauts Vents and Pont Hebert". the Gruppe Bohm scenario uses half of that map. I also created new building skins for that scenario which are still at the Green as Jade's web site.
