  1. Looking forward to the implementation of your fast and bullish plan!

Though I just noted that none of your Abrams have APS, so I hope that preparatory arty supression barrage along the flanking treeline of your armour advance is thorough and effective!!

Note also: I have seen Sublime post elsewhere (in other AAR/DAR's) a dislike of opponents using the map edges for movement. I am a complete noob (only just bought BS) so don't know if your armour thrust qualifies for this or not, but just be warned!  :D

hah, well limiting opponents movement is not acceptable imo. moving by the edges can be dangerous.you can put mines and bam, fancy abrams gone

    edit: something like this  https://youtu.be/Jat7sdQSx1Q?t=106

i am not napoleon, i just listen to him

  2. NOTE: noone should share this info with sublime, nor his info with me. (check his side of the story)

this is my first time doing DAR so it might not be on the  same standard(long ,tidy and with perfect english)  of the previous DARS ( maybe) but tactics/strategy will be presented clearly

    comments are welcome,aswell as advices

    BATTLE: Medium

    MAP: LARGE

    BLUE PROBE

    Time: 1hour

    Clear

    rarity:standard

    EW:no

    TURN: ZERO,deployment

    INITIAL PLAN:

    1) 3 platoons of abrams tanks will pierce Sublime's defenses.they will move on the extreme left (from US perspective).

    2) 350 shells (120mm) will fall on the key surrounding woods that have line of sight and are a danger to the US schwerpunkt , in addition 300 60mm shells will fall on distant key areas on the map

3)abrams platoons will advance at full speed untill the very end of Russian side of the map, in column of three. however one Abrams tank will take the nearby position that is covered by a barn, to help neutralise potential russian armour/atgm teams in the corridor that is being engaged by 8 other abrams tanks (corridor is as i said,on the extreeme left)

4)after they reach destination, they will eliminate any/every russian and slowly prepare to advance on the village/town to the east, untill then Infantry will catch up and kill wounded russian soldiers laying in the woods/fields

5)at the same time as 4) ,infantry MMGs and javelin teams will take up the positions on the hill to try to offer some support to the Abrams platoons

    7)after this,major objective,town/village will be assaulted,details are unclear

Whole plan is to strike fast and hard, from the very beginning , no matter the cost. this battle will be decided in 5 minutes

now that doesnt mean there wasnt careful planning and micromanagment, far from that. its simple plan, and thats its advantage. do what the enemy doesnt expect you to do,as napoleon once said

(Screenshots will be posted soon, and everything will be clear as day because of simplicity and the speed at which everything will unfold)

    Videos: might be used aswell

    COMPOSITION:

    INFANTRY:

1 x US  infantry company (3 platoons) + Fire support ,HQ etc

    ARMOUR:

    1 x Armoured company (3 platoons,9 tanks,no aps) (some deleted to fit it 3x3)

    SUPPORT/ARTILERY:

    7x 120mm Artilery

    3x 60mm Mortar

    14 TRP markers

90% of the troops are regular/high+0, some veterans

  3. ugh. fine Ill do an DAR. Someone has to help me embed the screenies. And Hydaspes you cant look. Im taking you at your word on it.

i have a problem, i keep getting deployed at  your deployment, tried 2 times now, turned of Cmh aswell , how do i fix this?

also dont worry about thread, knowing where your enemy is just kills whole point of combat mission

edit:i didnt exit the purchasing screen during any moment, but bug still happened

  4. yes. I I like your idea thats the general way I do it as well - whatever the battle size in points I do one size larger in the map.  Whose attacking, whose defending?

    Jeffreypclark86@Yahoo.com

you can directly send files to me there or you can send me a dropbox invite. I can usually get a couple turns a day at the least one  a day.

I will take the Russians.  If you like lets do no APS or APS for HQs only. If you want no restrictions on APS so be it thats fine as well. standard rarity, mix of units. give me Russians, Attack or defend, but set it as a probe so whoever attacking doesnt have an outsize point advantage.

Interesting you quoted me halfway and attributed the quote to my name backwards... =) ??

ok i ll attack. lets do without restrictions on aps (just to make it harder for you to know what i ll pick) . i ll send the file in 30m-1h

  5. I honestly dont see a problem with it.  Maybe a slight alteration for units with APS.  But as it is I think its pretty balanced.  You get significantly more Russian infantry than US with same points, and more tanks.  Maybe not a huge amount more but more.   I still stand by the idea that the game isnt an RTS about balance - theres games like Wargame Air Land Battle etc for that, but that its a tactical simulation.

And I still find it highly ironic that it only seems to be Russia that everyone is getting all upset about over this.  You dont see people demanding changes for US Shermans saying theyre nerfed.  You dont see people saying anything about the Ukrainians at all - and they definitely get the shortest end of the stick in the game.  And in SF I dont recall people posting thread after thread after thread about how the Syrians were nerfed and BFC fix or do sumfink it shouldnt be this hard to win as the Syrians!!!

It is what it is.  Its harder to win as the Russians. If you play them exclusively in PBEMs you WILL get better and start winning more than you lose, and win you lose you'll make the other side pay dearly.  The same with the Ukrainians. The US is the most forgiving but same applies to them - you play them constantly and you'll get consistently better as them.

It applies for all the CM titles, really the only side in any x2 game thats almost hopeless to play is Italians and even them Im sure if you insisted on playing endlessly you could become pretty adept at. But their largest problem is not nationality based it's equipment, in which their tanks and infantry AT ability is basically hopeless.

For the Russians though a lot of their equipment isnt as great as the US its cheaper. And they do have strengths you can play to, as well as the fact that the Russians are entirely a different league than the Italians in FI because the Russian T90A or AM, though inferior to an Abrams, is still perfectly capable of killing an Abrams, even from the front.  Even a comparison of Shermans isnt apt unless you're comparing Sherman fireflies to T90AMs which I feel is very apt.  The T90AM or A can generally penetrate every US vehicle from the front.  However any shot from an Abrams to its front is almost definitely going to kill it.

The QB point values as far as battle types.. just use probes.  The thing is that the assault/attack/probe point values in the WW2 titles arent as noticeable.  The weapons arent as deadly, nor as expensive, though in a PBEM the defender still basically has a hopeless time in an assault.  But an attack isnt nearly as difficult in a WW2 title for the defender as it is in BS where its still almost a guaranteed loss for the defender.   MEs are extremely rare IRL and unrealistic, and I dont like them.  So the best option for realism as far as one side attacking another defending, with the attacker getting a point bonus that isnt excessive is probe for BS.

Also @Aurelius I gave you advice in the post above.  But your experiences are honestly just you.  Ive had multiple kills with Khriz in single games, let alone cumulatively all together with dozens of abrams and bradleys killed, with and without APS.  One good thing to do is buy a pair of Khriz ( I always buy a pair or one singly and attach it to my tank battalion 31 I buy along with a battalion tac. group) and give them veteran rating maybe one of them crack.  More experienced crews on such a piece of equipment is very important. Also do not take them on maps that are small (smaller than large is too small) or dont have at least a few places with 1000 meter plus LoS. It takes practice and they are fragile, and because engine limitations and the fact its a game the Khriz cant use some of its real life strengths, such as engaging two targets at once, or just have the missile launcher mast exposed.  Also in real life a crew would know when to use the radar, when to use its thermals, etc.  In the game the AI cant decide as well as a human.  In real life a Khriz crew may be told over the radio, use radar only we're laying a smoke screen down so you can shoot at the US without being shot back at, in game they dont know this.  I honestly dont know how the game handles spotting cycles and spotting for units with things like thermals, radar, and enhanced sights, but Im sure its still not handled as well as humans would use it.

Another good example is close range engagements. In real life T90 crews engaging US tanks would probably not lase them first but just aim and fire.  Same vice versa.  This wouldnt activate the LWR on the Abrams, (though in real life it apparently doesnt have one) and in real life it wouldnt activate the LWR in the T90AM. But because its a game the target gets lased, and its very difficult to code the AI to know when to lase and when not.  If the designers simply said do not lase under 500m then people would be screaming why are my T90s missing shots at impossibly close range because situations where lasing may help the tank but theyre just using a boresight or sights without lasing and estimation of range.  Its very hard to find the sweet spot.  Ian perhaps you could bring up to the devs the possibility of having tanks not lase under a certain range however, like maybe in clear day and night conditions  under 250m or something...

ok lets play. same map as in my previous battle? its large map, medium funds? day,clear,1hour

  6. i just finished a battle with russian player. 50 soldiers out of combat, 2 bmp3s , 2 t90am(edit) , whole right flank destroyed into oblivion, ready to push the unprepared center , my loses are   8 men in total out of combat (counting Wia and kia)+  targeting on abrams is red/knocked out ,but he managed to destroy 1 t90am after that lol...  , other 6 abrams are unscratched,, he surendered. yes its not impossible to beat US army in this game, but its far harder than it should be.

i ordered fast command for abrams tanks and when poor at 14 lased them, abrams just threw smoke (+ i ordered them at one point just in case) and continued to eat their flank, 4 out of 7 abrams tanks were sent via a corider 5x5 m2 and broke that flank, with support of 120/150mm artilery and few machine guns..

i will play only russians from now on (yes i might beat new players who are playing americans) and i ll try to win vs an average opponent, or at least destroy 1 abrams tank, ill be happy if i dammage 1 abrams

    http://imgur.com/PVGW6w6

those icons on his right flank are shattered/panicked or wounded useless troops, so only at the center he has some firepower left. and those in the center and his left are small teams, icons gives false impression of his strenght

  7. The Dev team is smaller than my pinky finger and is working on several projects at once. Next.

I'm imagining delicious, open flanks. Over-concentration rarely ends well and can be easily punished by a dynamic and mobile enemy. Where you see hoplessness, others would say there's opportunity.

This is preposterous as an argument, to discount this. By your math, which I just checked is correct, a Company of Abrams costs 1.5x the cost of a Company of T90s. Lets say we're playing an 8500 point meeting engagement, that leaves the Russian player with almost 4000 points to play with. The US player, by contrast, is over budget already. The Russians can put a larger, powerful all-arms force in the field for cheaper. This is the literal definition of balance. If the US Player wants a balanced force, he might have to settle for a Platoon of Abrams.

Now we have 4 tanks against 9; more than a surmountable obstacle for the Russian forces. Your argument simply boils down to "Well I cannot take them on one to one" - Splendid, the dev team did their job then. Here's food for thought: Has it occurred to you that you can win a tactical victory while incurring slightly more losses than your opponent in certain sectors? The game is, after all, a tactical-level simulator.

I'm not discounting your concerns in a general sense, they're valid, I've even gone out of my way to show you actual, legitimate issues people have been able to find with the US forces - and have backed it up with reproduce able results. I just don't think your particular issues really deserve the dev team's attentions, sorry. They're not legitimate to me.

send 9 t90s vs 5 abrams, even outflank them 1 turn(abrams will turn around in 3 seconds and insta rape t90), they will all die, ofcourse unless they are elite +2 fanatic , but then they are 5% more expensive than abrams veterans so it ll be 5v5 at best, and elite skill is helping 0% when it comes to armour, been testing many times

concentration of forces during attack (mobile tanks) is a valid tactic btw, just pwned some poor russians this turn (pbem) that way , hit and retreat. and if he had some t90s in my line of sight, they would be dead by now

edit: my point: optics, armour of abrams are just far too superior, and their cost is nothing serious, specially if u are attacker and u are doing pincer or thrust movement (usually on the flanks)

edit2: i forgot to say, yes  the fact that they are not a large team is not making me happier when it comes down to bugs. even u  said, they are working on multilple projects while not fixing previous ones, its just how it is, i dont wana aplaud someone who doesnt fix bugs and work on new games

  8. Okay @IanL since you broke the ice...I'll put on my gaiters and wade in.

I don't want to be 'that guy' but I'll say it: Are you trying to go hammerhead-to-hammerhead with Abrams? Then yes....you should be getting chewed up and badly. The T90AM (which I remind you, is not in service as of 2015 - so you can thank BFC for giving Russia the benefit of that doubt) is more than capable of eating Abrams up...if handled intelligently. However, since the game is set in 2017, and BFC has already taken the extraordinary step of giving T90AMs with their Relikt armor and all, we've also recieved the (currently not in service) modern sabots meant to defeat Relikt armor.

You wouldn't charge a Sherman 76 across 2km of open ground to attack a dug in Jagdpanther if you have a covered route of approach, right? So why are you doing it with T90s - excuse the assumption. The Russians have an edge on battlefield observation and tank destroyers over the US, you should be playing with your T90s close to the chest. A US player will almost inevitably lead with his M1s, you should never be putting something big and easy to spot up front first against them.

Why? Let's stick to the game. The QB system is the first one based on true balance - and you can usually get 2:1 to 2.5:1 advantages in material and numbers as the Russians. If the US has similar numbers to you, or God forbid outnumbers you in say, a meeting engagement, then you need to re think how you select troops.

The Russian C2 system is not as powerful as the US, and this is the reality of training differences. Its a disadv. offset by the fact that their battlefield observation is generally on par or greater than the US's - culminating in a drone that literally cannot be engaged by the US currently. More than a fair trade off.

I play the Russians or Ukrainians almost exclusively and have never had a rough time of giving an equal opponent a good fight. There's so many people on these forums who will legitimately scratch their heads at some of the complaints. There's plenty of legitimate criticisms one can make atm, that have been proven by forum members. For example and off the top of my head: Antarres (sorry if I misspelled) has shown the side armor of Abrams being far too durable and has even deduced why that may be. People have shown consistently that Bradley ERA blocks tend to not explode, leading a Bradley to eat round after round - that's only a few pages back on the screenshot thread; I have no doubt the Devs took notice. Stagler, who I believe is still on a vacation for being a pecker-head, and others have shown that the 152mm precision round fails to penetrate or even significantly damage Abrams with good, clean hits - another thing that is now being considered for future updates.

Sublime as well has been proving through two separate DARs that a well handled Russian force can easily pull-around an American heavy team and inflict mass losses; offensively or defensively.

ive read entire post, my points are:

    t90am is 480+ , abrams i 660+, thats not 2:1, and considering 1 abrams can take out 2-3 t90s.... (yes i know,tactics,but we are talking pure balance/power)

russian Sturm AT  is a joke,a bad joke,a very very bad joke

khrizantema is i duuno,it can deal damage, but its spoting is not as good as m1a2's and its armour is a bad joke , in real battle, with trees and obstacles its not efficient enough

Russian tanks , t90 series, are just not good enough to do anything, i really duuno how would you beat a competent player who takes abrams tanks, and t90 in combination with kornet and khrizantema, is also not as good as you might think, again, against competent player. you cant just place 3-4 teams/tanks in 1 spot like in company of heroes arcade ...

and imagine 7 abrams tanks attacking 1 part of the map or flank (thats what i am doing now in one pbem battle, first turn, bmp3 and 1 squad dead already on the enemy side)

also those bugs with abrams and bradley are just helping my 'cause' , also why arent they fixed already, i hope we wont wait untill 2017 war in the ukraine breaks out between nato and russia

  9. The reason there is push back on the comments is terms like this...

    "murca far superior in tanks"

    and

    "suspicious"

You really are saying you don't understand why someone would think your posting style is a little aggressive?

i dont see it as aggressive at all, your quotes are little out of context, when you look at the whole sentence then it doesn't sound aggressive

  10. Suspicious, schmuspicious. Evidence, evidence, evidence.

why do we have to form 2 factions and fight. thread was fairly neutral at the start, my opinion is that russians are not quite well represented in comparison to americans,in this specific theatre (fictional) but i am also welcoming information regarding why they  are represented in this way, even if that info will make me wrong

  11. Well it could be very interesting. Perhaps we will see some actual evidence this time around. Hey, I can hope. :)

So, you are claiming that the Russian gear is under modeled. Interesting. Show us the information you have that supports that. BFC do a lot of research into the capabilities of the equipment. If you show them that they have made a mistake they will fix it. They have already fixed the side amour of the T90 and the ammo used in the 30mm and reduced the armor on the M1 in various places because people pointed out it was off.

I am no expert in any of this so my only opinion is that BFC will make changes if you point out a mistake.

So, all of you out there who think the Russian gear is getting short shrift bring on the evidence. Actual evidence please because just saying that the Russian equipment is under modeled is not an argument. :)

i am also interested  why is it like this, its not a pure attack on bfc. but some things are really suspicious

  12. 0) since BFC decided to implement trophy  (Active protection system) for m1A2 versions of the abrams, which is not implemented right now ,or wasnt back then when Black sea came out, or at the very least it wasnt done on a large scale, why don't russians have  optics for ak74m , or at least, at the very least, why dont some* russian soldiers have it. what is the argument for that

    1) abrams seems to be too good tank, or maybe i should say t90 seems like a junk

(arguments like: yes america is far superior are not arguments)

only real hint i could see for that being the case (murca far superior in tanks ) ,is that t90s cost less than abrams, but how much  less, there are contradictions showing up when trying to see real numbers on the internet

optics of abrams  are far superior to the optcis of  t90s .armor is penetrated easily even by bradley from the sides (t90), both A and AM

Abrams is almost resistant to Rpg fire, based on what?

2)AT 14 kornet seems to be nerfed, yes it can destroy bradleys but thats only ifv not a tank (aiming at abrams)

3)russian artilery calling time and drones are inferior to those of america, russian player must wait longer to get info from the drones  as far as i noticed, what is that based on?

  13. suit yourself

On the subject of hi def files, this has been brought up by folks who created them and I believe they can in fact have an impact. I make no assumptions as to what users have and neither does BF which is why they work as hard as they can to optimize the game to run on the full range of what their users have.

Yeah BF is lazy, lol. You have no idea.  These guys work incredibly hard, but there are only so many hours in a day and days in a week. Realistic project management trumps gamer fantasies any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Not trying to be rude there, but the BF team really does work their asses off, accusing them of being lazy is a statement of ignorance. Accuse them of being short handed and you might be closer to the mark.

hd files ,sure, can make catastrophic, potentially outocomes,if you go crazy with the resolution, but who sane would do that. i remmber that i had a very bad gpu, and was using all aris mods, performance was affected not 1% , but 0%, sometimes i even thought (although it was ilusion) that it runs better with his mods (texture mods) , Models are what truly this game is about.

you say they dont have time to make pkp and pkm at least sound decent enough, its hard for me to believe that

and thing about number of hours, capitalism and all that, well that aint an excuse . Because* we live in a 'real' world, they should adapt, if they want to provide quality product

game's visuals are bare minimum what they could be ,and its been kept that way since 2011, that minimum can be improved easily, but they wont, for some reason (and its not hours or sundays)

  14. I think partly because what is "good" is subjective.  For example lots of folks rave about Aris work and it is pretty amazing stuff.  However the degree of weathering is in some eyes a cinematic effect and in reality vehicles didn't generally look like that (I am kind of on the fence on this but I have to admit color photos I have seen tend to support that).  Then you get into uniforms and high definition files (which are more PC demanding) and don't even start on audio files.  What should an M1 Garand sound like in game?  The way it sounds in real life or the way it sounds in a movie?

The only mod I know of in CM that has issues with upgrades is Vin's text mod which does say a lot for BF's position about what they will allow folks access to.  You can't really break the game.  A mod designer could always sign away rights to their work, but from BF's view why bother.  Once the mod is created anyone can load it.  Why should BF alter what is distributed in the actual game so a player who loads version 2 sees one set of images and another loads version 3 and sees another.  As it stands the player is free to put in what they want and BF can steer clear of that whole debate as to what is "best".  For them it is a distraction that does nothing to help sell the game.

You do not have to mod the game, it is perfectly fine as is.  However you can do so if you so choose with the mods that you prefer.  Unfortunately you have to decide for yourself what is best.

point about pc requirements is not valid since only textures are being changed (and they can change performance up to 10% even on a pc from 1860s ,and its not like many ppl actaully have those kind of pcs, i am seeing her r9s and gtx 970s )  ,also vanila sounds like pkm pkp, are just pure lazyness theres no excuse for such evil. other vanila sounds are ok-ish, but not good
