  1. Hi !

I hope Battlefront does not plan any Marines or NATO forces module.

I would not buy them, yes they have different tools but it would still feel the same (Ukraine, Summer, West vs. Russia).

    (...)

Or a Crimea module about a fictional recapture attempt by the Ukraine military.

What do you think about that ?

So... new western equipment is a unnecessary addition but reusing the Ukrainian army fresh and new?

Both a marines module and a separatist are kind of confirmed (The separatists by Steve somewhere in the "has debalt(something) fallen?" thread and the marines both by the story and ChrisND somewhere else. I personally don't think that the jump to NATO is small enough to justify not doing it. Yes, much of the equipment is somewhat similar, but so is everything in modern warfare. Heck, all warfare is "shooting stuff with my stuff".

I don't think that we'll see winter anytime soon. It is a lot of work. Earlier, before the release, Steve was asked if they would include winter for community scenarios. He answered that for everyone asking for winter there would be someone who asked them to add a winter variant to all models, etc. Redoing everything, from infantry models to vehicle textures, is a LOT of work.

What I'd personally like to see is a mix. Some traditional NATO countries (Germany, GB, France) combined with other NATO countries (Poland is a must!) with new forces (Marines and Russian stuff. I don't know details about those, so please forgive me).

Ideally I'd like to see one BLUFOR addition and one OPFOR addition in every module.

But hey, I don't have to do the work behind all this!

  2. Thanks for the summary, Steve!

I regularly visit the livemap to keep an overview. I use this information not to find out what is happening, but to find out where something might be happening. It's a good pool of information and it shows many small pieces of what is going on in ukraine. I think it helped me to get a deeper understanding of the conflict and what is happening on the ground. I'll take a look at the other sources. They look promising.

  3. Being french and therefore having to deal with the " white flag, fleeing surrender monkey " our dear "allies" repeat continually, I never reload or give up ^^

This is a good thing because you indeed learn much more from a defeat !

So thanks a lot for the french bashing ;)

Thats just typical for you frenchies. To afraid to give up. If you were real men you would proudly proclaim your flaws and give up. Pfff. :P

I myself only reload when I realise that I missed giving an order, and then I reload while the turn is in its first seconds. If I catch myself thinking about reloading an earlier save I immediately delete all saves I have from the mission and start a different scenario so that I forget the enemy positions.

  4. After being away (again) I finally finished the mission.

    With a draw.

I lost one APC and my non-qrf infantry got beaten up pretty badly (Note to Myrelf: Your air support can't see russians under the trees. Your Air support will see your own infantry hiding inside buildings). The points were pretty equal.

I would probably have won the mission if one of my trucks hadn't decided to get immobilized while crossing the river on "slow". Those ~300 points really hurt. Bad luck I guess.

  5. Before actually playing this scenario I thought about whether or not I should use my pre-battle knowledge as the ukrainians

Since it is a CM scenario I know that there will be a battle. However, as commander of the ukrainian forces I only know that there might be an ambush on the road ahead. Am I supposed to do this the smart way and lead with dismounted infantry or should I drive my APCs into whatever lies ahead?

The latter would probably result in multiple explosions, but I feel like cheating the game if I don't do it.

  6. A great scenario!

I had  some luck with spotting. Two precision mortar rounds and both the russian machine gun and grenade launcher were silenced. You have to love the one minute to call in support! I think that I finished the mission with two US WIA. Outrunning the russian artillery was fun. I think I'll replay it as the russians before using the other AI plans.

  7. ohh you sneaky bum, trying to take the lead by making me look bad. It's ooooaaaaan.

Come on. You are gettin ridiculous. You don't need sburke to make yourself look bad. You are doing that by your own. If you don't want to look bad you probably should stay stealthsilent1.

    Peng Warning, Peng Warning, GONG,GONG,GONG...

I really hope that everything I said is within the limits of the smacktalk rules. Just tell me if my awesomeness is to much for you. Then I'll move some steps back.

  8. Early access is great for small indie developers who need the additional funds to deliver a game. It should not be used by traditional publishers (or anyone who doesn't really need it) because used like that it will ruin good games.

Battlefront is established. They should not use early access

.[insert mandatory whining about "give me the finished game now!" here]

  9. AHHAHAHHAhaHAh you alllllllllllll suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck, dude, I'm totally going to be the winner and

Just let me cut you off right here.

You'll win? Pha. with this post?

    09022015 bold

    2100

I don't see any reason why you should win.

You thought you were being smart, didn't ya? Posting bold after your guess, trying to prove that you don't play by the rules.

Looks like you won't win after all. If you try to be awesome don't try it here.

  10. The level of smack-talk is distressingly low. I fear I must ascribe it to either a lack of martial spirit, or that anyone wanting a free copy is too busy working to post. Of course, if they're too busy to post, will they be too busy for the AAR???

    :)

Why, to low? You and your thread just aren't important enough for us. Get on our level and you will get smacked.

  11. An AAR would be fun actually.  I need just a week or so to get used to the new stuff.

Don't overcommit yourself. You owe me one for questioning my awesomeness!

I already made plans. It will be called AAAR (Awesomest After Action Report) and whoever wins it will be allowed to use "Awesomest [something]" in his signature.

    Oh, the humiliation!
