On a related note, I am playing the Nijmegen campaign by papertiger right now (will be on Youtube as well). Has he ever done another CM campaign? Is he still active in some way?

No screenshots from 2 years = No proggress
What? No, just means no screenshots.
-
Probably made no master map because there was no fighting IN Bastogne, just around it.
-
Means the Sturmpanzer, probably (Brummbär).
-
That artwork is from the flames of war tabletop game (ironically made by the "Battlefront" Company)...

This was either a big fail or a good joke.

Yeah it's a good one, have a series of videos on it:

The M3 Grease gun is only used by vehicle crews in the Normandy game. In Final Blitzkrieg it starts getting used by some infantry units (scouts, paratroopers).
-
Well back in Normandy FJG were not as crap yet as in the Ardennes And it could be included as a special organisation, I mean it's not like the Germans had any ranger type light infantry with the exception of maybe Brandenburgers or SS Jagdverbände, neither of which were in Normandy.
-
A possible German special force would be Fallschirm-Aufklarungs-Abteilung 12, the corps-level reconnaissance battalion of II Fallschirmjäger-Korps . They formed several Sturmgruppen. According to the book "Dying for St. Lo" every recon company formed one assault group, which was armed with a Puppchen rocket launcher, 3 FG42s (1 scoped) and a flamethrower. Probably the crewmen had K98ks and the squad leader a submachinegun.
That being said, having second line German troops with Czech or captured weapons would be cool as well.

Hurtgen forest is not a jungle though. And if I started a scenario where I had a lot of infantry and a huge forest area I would probably close it immediately. In fact, that is why I never started that amiens campaign.
-
I think the .45 round might lose energy faster in real life.
-
I think the engine is not necessarily well suited for jungle and bunker / tunnel combat. Not to mention the naval aspect.

Look at the chart. The MP44 is performing even slightly worse than machine pistols...
Have you played Red Thunder? You don't feel that machine pistols are totally sniping miracles beyond 30 meters, while the assault rifle doesn't deliver a better hit rate? My impression from playing CM is exactly what these charts show. The MP44 is modelled as a (bad) machine pistol, but not as assault rifle.
The MP44 is so rare in Red Thunder that making a comparison is almost impossible.

I think the effectiveness of the PPsh41 in Red Thunder compared to other smgs comes down to rate of fire and the fact that it is used en masse.

Is it therefore a historical misperception that the MP44 "assault rifle" was greatly superior to bother the MP40 "machine pistol" and the Sten? Or, does the game simply misrepresent them? And since it is a game, does it really matter? Wondering if doing this sort of analysis of an entertainment product is a bit pointless and mitigates the immersive verisimilitude.
The MP44 is not better than a submachine gun at close range or a semi-automatic full caliber rifle like the Garand at medium range. However, the point is that it is capable of doing both. You can deliver reasonably accurate aimed fire over distance or jump into a trench and mow down some people with the same rifle.

The IS3 was not used in combat in WW2.

I find FB a bit more varied, RT has a lot of somewhat "generic" scenarios (Defend the river crossing from T34s!). RT is better if you prefer bigger scenarios and tanking though.
-
Regarding graviteam tactics: I like the graphics and tank armor systems, but is it just me or do you have very little control over what actually happens in a battle?
-
My "overlap" is World War 2. If it is set between 1939 and 1945 I will probably buy it. (Except maybe Pacific)
-
Shameless self-promotion:
This is a scenario from fortress italy.
-
Recently played the "Fight at Vallebruca" scenario from CM : FI:

Yes that solved it, thanks.

Thanks! Probably that big windows update.

He also made the Road to Nijmegen and Scottish Corridor campaigns for the same game. I'm playing the Nijmegen one on my channel right now, btw.
