  1. I play against the AI, but I always use automatic force selection for both sides, & usually elite difficulty. I like to try to win with whatever I happen to have against whatever they happen to have. It's not necessarily possible to win that way all the time so I suppose that makes me a don't do
  2. IMO it would be nice to have a move order like Hunt, except the unit only halts if fired upon, and does not fire on enemy it sees unless fired upon. Was trying to get a FO in position to call mortar fire on an AT gun on the other side of a building. Tried hunt, FO halts before he gets in position. Next tried slow, FO crawls into building a little ways, engages AT gun with small arms and is of course killed. Maybe there's already a way to do this I don't know of? Sorry if this has already been discussed, couldn't find it.
  3. Yes sure enough checked with the cam underwater & there was the ford. I didn't know that feature was in. Anyway thanks for your help.
  4. Couldn't tell, lost sight of it when it entered the river. (because it went underwater?) But I know it crossed cause it turned up on the other side and there was only one bridge which I of course had under direct observation. I guess I could use the camera to check depth at that point?
  5. I was just playing a battle & observed an enemy StuG 3 (AI controlled) enter & cross a river about 50m. wide--as in no bridge. Was this sort of thing intended or is it a glitch?
  6. Because it's less far-fetched, as simple as that.
  7. Well yes, that's what politicians do. That's how he got into power in the first place, but once he was in I doubt if there could have been much getting rid of him from within Germany. What I'm saying is he shouldn't have been making military decisions, or at least should have been taking more advice from those better suited for it. They could have just had him arrested? Could you elaborate?
  8. Yes, they were beaten because of bad strategy. But it's probably also fair to say that most of the bad strategy came from Hitler constantly overriding the plans of his generals. He was basically a politician playing at being the high commander of the German Army--of course he lost. But if he had been a little less of an egomaniac and had actually listened to his generals who knows what would have happened? Good thing for us Huh?
  9. Almost certainly neither account is 100% accurate. However that being said I find it likely the U.S. version is closer to the truth.
  10. I agree, but I would really prefer my infantry to fire on enemy armor with small arms only if directly ordered to--in other words you have your own armor or whatever ready to attack the tank as soon as it buttons up. The AI automatically doing so only results in the infantry giving away their position and consequently having large amounts of HE death lobbed at them the majority of the time. Anyway, I really hope this is fixed in the patch.
  11. Could it possibly be because the terrain going through the breach is rougher? That might explain why the panthers will handle it but the halftracks might not. Just a thought.
  12. I figured it out--I think somehow it had gotten switched back to infantry only & I didn't notice, just kept loading the next one. Has anyone known the QB settings to not stay as you left them from one battle to the next, or to change as a result of changing something else?
  13. Maybe I forgot to try Huge...let me try it again I guess..
  14. Maybe I'm doing something wrong but I absolutely cannot get any computer selected vehicles at all on quick battles. I've tried all battle sizes, even set it to armor only, still only gives me infantry. Is this a bug, maybe something to do with rarity? BTW great job guys--other than that I'm very impressed with this game...got it day before yesterday & have been playing non-stop.
  15. Yeah, I was a little nervous about that to say the least--thanks for the info.
  16. I've never played SF, but is this really the way getting a vehicle unbogged works? By changing the move order over & over? I would think that the vehicle's driver (or AI thereof) would be able to figure out that being bogged is undesirable and get the vehicle out if he (it) could. What you're describing sounds a little silly to me--imagine the bogged vehicle's commander on the radio to his HQ, "OK, we're stuck in the mud, should we try to get it out?" Anyway if it did work this way it would be an AI flaw IMO.
  17. OK, thanks guys. Now I just endure unknown duration of torment not having it yet...
  18. Hey guys...never posted on these forums before but I've been happily playing the CM games for years. Anyway, I just wanted to make sure...CMBN will run ok on Win7 64 bit when it comes out, right? Thanks in advance for your help.
