  1. I've raised before the issue of ground textures rising up or shifting when a move order is being placed.

I find the issue very distracting and I know others have the same problem.

I think I have finally found the cause. I loaded an old version of CMSF - V1.08 - before the coloured placement indicators were introduced in 1.10. In 1.08 the ground is rock solid, never shifts or wobbles at all. Problems start with 1.10 when the yellow and red coloured placement squares are introduced. The problem is worse in CMBN perhaps because the ground textures are more complex.

So whilst I accept the coloured squares are an aid to game play, allowing you to position units accurately, they do have an unfortunate side effect (on mine and other peoples machines).

So, a plea to BFC - could you please look again at how this is implemented? If possible could you introduce a switch to allow people to turn off the placement squares if they are having problems with them?

    Thanks

  2. The running gear on some of the vehicles, especially the German interleaved suspension systems curiously flat, a modded CM1 model, although no where as structurally complete, seems to have more presence than a CM2 one.

It is a shame that such detailed models are made to look flat by poor implementation of lighting.

  3. I'm using it. After some swapping and switching I have chosen yours in preference to Flesh's & Vein's (both of which are very nice). Yours does just what is needed - takes away the overly bright ground/roads but leaves the richness of the colours. An excellent and much needed mod. Thank you very much for doing it.

  4. Fantastic work Vein! Just one thing old chap - you really don't need to mod the ENTIRE GAME to keep us mod sluts happy!

Question - have increased vehicle saturation? The Kubel looks more saturated in your version. If you have I think its a great idea - the problem with the BFC colours was undersaturated armour against oversaturated background.

Many thanks for your work - hopefully this will be ready by the end of the weekend?

  5. Now then, lets see. NATO module was released 21-10-10.

    1.31 released 26/11/10.

So that is 6 months ago which seems quite a long time. And if the patch is still months away, then it could well be a year between penultimate patch and final patch that fixes the remaining major bugs.

Seems like a long time to me.

Game patches and mortgages arn't the same thing.

  6. Thanks for posting Carl. I think a video would help. Sometimes, especially with visual issues like this that don't come up for everyone, the only real way for us to understand it is to see it in action.

Thanks Phil. Its good to see someone at BFC taking note of this.

I'll have a go at doing a video at the weekend....it can't be that hard!

  7. Wah! half way down page 2 after only 2+ hours and the game hasn't been released yet.

Sorry guys but I've tried changing my game settings, playing on large maps, toggling various things off and on in the game and yet the terrain remains as flat as a table when the action spots are highlighted. So, I fired up 'that other CMx2 game' to run a couple of tests and I saw no terrain deformation there either. So, I can't help you guys with this. We'll have to see what the other testers can come up with.

For your information, I have an NVIDEA GeForce 9600 GT

    current driver is 8.17.12.5896

    all 3D setttings are default

all game settings are maxxed out Best for all models,

    Vertical Synch on

    Antialiasing on

    High priority Off

changing those last three doesn't do anything either. Believe me, I tried.

Thanks for your efforts on this. Like others have said, its an irritant more than anything; it is something you would not expect to see in a game and it does give a poor impression of quality. I like CMSF and play it daily. I just wish I didn't see terrain bobbling about as I play and the effect seems worse in the CMBN demo.

If I could post a video of it, would that help?

  8. It is an annoyance that spoils rather than ruins the game for me. I would rather CNBN was like any other game and not have the ground move about of its own accord. Sure I can still play the game, but the experience would be better for me if this problem did not exist.

I posted here to see if anyone knew how to fix it, not to get into a debate about how important it is. If it wasn't important to me I wouldn't have posted.
