  1. Changing to you settings didn't change things.

Not related to the game, I have had two blue screen crashes since installing this driver. I never get blue screen with XP. Both were because of something ati. I didn't pay close attention to what it said on the blue screen. Today my system was slow and I opened task manager to see what's up.

ati2evxx.exe is at 500mb of memory usage.

I think I'll install an older driver this weekend and see what happens.

  2. I tried setting everything on high and turning off the ATI compatiblity setting. The horizontal lines are gone and the 3d models look good but the text is bad and so are the floating icons. The grass in the training mission takes a bit to load on screen and the LOD is a semicircle at some angles.

I also set the AF in CCC to 16.

I was hoping it was a Radeon text fix like CMx1.

  3. and poor graphics overall.

I installed the 1.30 demo to see how SF would work before BN is out. I have multi coloured text that is barely readable. I went into the options screen and set everything to fastest, AA off.

I have a Biostar mb with integrated ATI HD 4200 video, set at 256mb of 2g DDR shared RAM with an AMD Sempron 140 2.7 cpu.

I checked the CCC and it is set for AA and AF as app controlled.

  4. With the enhanced spotting of CMx2 what is hull down in regard to one location might not be hull down in regard to another which makes a "seek hull down" command difficult to impliment.

The way I seek hull down in CMx2 is to plot my waypoint and then click on it and issue a target command without selecting a target (this is the CMx2 LOS tool). This lets me know if I am hull down in regard to my target area or not (it is also why I'd like movable waypoints!:D because I frequently waste time plotting my new "trial waypoint" to the same action tile rather than a different one - hopefully this not being the desert will help with that). This method works really well and, IMHO, no hull down command is necessary.

While some will say that is not realistic, this is a game and to me it abstracts a recon troop or crew checking the area. I suppose it gets tedious if you have a lot of units.

  5. Back in the 70s we would stay there for the weekend. There was only one hotel, owned by Sheraton then. Famous for the hot springs Pluto water. They had indoor/outdoor pools, bowling alley, mini golf, golf, tennis and a room full of pinball machines and air hockey. Back in the days before Pong.

We took the horseback tour in the fall and were the only ones that showed up. The guide took us all over the place since it was just us and he had nothing else booked for the day. Beautiful country in the fall.

  6. Ali-Baba - You have to be careful bringing your Southern European/Mediterranean eye to the graphics of Normandy. Trees in distance would have a blue hazing atmospheric effect flattening them out with softening of contrast i.e. less highlighting.

My experience is that of an artist (BA Fine Art painting) and having travelled to around France, Greece & Crete as a bohemian starving artist :) The light down your way is much crisper and less wishy washy in general. Watercolours t'up in Northern Europe reflect the nature of the environment and tend to be 'muddier' - in contrast to the further south you go he brighter and crisper they get (Paul Cezanne loved the South of France cos of the crisper light)

Coming back from Greece up through italy in the summer it wasn't until I got as far north as Milan did my raw & burnt sienna sore eyes see the cooler greens associated with home.

Check out the landscape paintings of French Impressionist Monet "an eye, but my God what an eye ' , and the early impressionist Pissaro to see what I mean:
