  1. Hi Battlefield,

Thanks for sharing your mod and please take the time to pat yourself on the back for a job well done!  The new sprites are very spritely indeed and I do very much like some of the unit properties you have changed.  The corps having two strikes works very well.  The additional graphics also add to the flavor of the mod without imposing additional burdens.  The AI is also more aggressive than I've seen in other mods although it is still rather easy to sink the British fleet piecemeal in the the North Sea.  Changing the deployments to concentrate the fleet in the northern area of Britain (per historical) may help to remedy this some.

More later after I've completed a few games.  Very snappy response times too!

  2. In the US we refer to this sort of thing as "the lights are on but nobody is home".  In other words, whomever reviews and approves these things is not paying much attention.  This seems to be the case with much of the SC2 franchise as there is a distinct drop off in activity.  Unfortunately, the dearth of information on SC3 is troubling also.  Makes me wonder if it it's all worth the wait and I suspect I'm not the only one pondering this question.

  3. Had Global Conflict on vista, no problem, just got a new computer with windows 8.1 64 bit, and when try to install, I get this:

"the setup files are corrupted. Please obtain a new copy of the program."

as the file was a download from you guys, it can't get any newer, so I was wondering if you have a solution. I might get a lot more work done if I can't get it installed, but I don't know that I'll be any happier. Thanks.

    David

Just a thought: try running the installation in compatibility mode with admin privileges. If the file is truly corrupt it won't make any difference but things have been tricky lately with some of the security updates for Win 7 and this might hold true for Win 8 as well. I've had to remove a few to simply update already existing programs.:(

  4. Hi Philippe,

My recommendation would be to implement the changes only in the second level or later iterations of the bitmap images. This way the image will change once it gets upgraded. Units which don't change could then represent the second line or perhaps reserve/garrison/territorial troops which probably did not have the newest equipment (front line units having priority).

  5. Hi Hubert,

No, these are not linked to a resource script or supply script. I extracted all of the resource locations from the resource script file and cross-checked them against a listing of the resources which never activated using an EXCEL spreadsheet. Most of them should be active from day one since they are not referenced in any resource script but they are not. Resources adjacent to them on the same rail lines have no issues ruling out a supply issue.

Perhaps what I will do is edit in a bunch of extra resources into a standard scenario and then see if they still do not activate.

  6. In the case of an invasion of Britain I think Stalin would not do anything initially it being his nature to wait and see what develops. If Germany gets bogged down I would think Stalin would gamble on Britain and Germany destroying themselves or weakening each other to such a degree that he could get whatever he wanted without much cost. If it looked like Germany was winning he might stay out of it just to avoid angering Hitler. If Britain was winning he might stab Hitler in the back or ramp up deliveries to Germany to prolong the conflict and bleed them dry. Depends on what his ultimate agenda (other than survival) actually was.

  7. Something strange happened to a mod I'd been working on. I can open it and edit it in the 1.02 editor but it fails in the 1.03 editor with the dreaded FAILED(on_menu_command): Segmentation violation.

Running the 1.02 patch again fixed the issue but I am curious as to what has changed between the 1.02 and 1.03 editor which could cause this error. Also, what exactly does the above error signify? No explanation is ever given on these sorts of errors as to what the error message is supposed to convey.
