  1. Got the same error as Piecekeeper and I'm running XP. Anyway, continued with the install. Then, I downloaded the patch manually and installed fine and up to date on the main screen.

Anyway, I get the new maps, but not the new units. The thumbnails for them show question marks. If I try to include them in a scenario, it freezes. Also, they don't show up in either mission builder.

    Any thoughts?

  2. Good to see something other than those "unplayable" comments.

I too have seen amazing detail in both TOW2 and Kursk. The first patch for Kursk is a bit long in coming, but the internet attack and other issues can't be ignored.

This is 1C's flagship sort of, so we are confident in future support of the game, and expansions we will pay for.

  3. Brit,

I would love the option on the "X free production right from the beginning." And a better AI might be the needed hook for wargamers. The only company that brags about its AI--and gets away with it--is SSG. And even they have had their issues selling the latest AtD "expansion" at a $40 price.

What hooked me immediately was the moddability and rulesets. Have I finished my own ruleset yet? Of course not!

  4. Both North Afrika and Kursk continue to immerse me greatly. Stuff like watching a rifle team kill the crew of an AA gun, man it, and shoot down an enemy aircraft, only to have the piece removed from them in hand to hand fighting a few minutes later. What great AARs are made of.

Have not had any big slowdowns with my non-gaming machine either. 3 Gigs and a 4850 running XP seems enough.

Also, can't understand all the raving from some about Achtung Panzer. It is a great game designed by four people and was on sale for like $16. That is awesome. But graphics do matter, and AP's landscape looks like snow with dog crap strewn all over the place. Really murky and hard to get your bearings. It will take a lot of study due to interface issues, but I still like it.

However, it does not come close to Kursk, plus there's no editor.

  5. These thoughts will probably insult your intelligence, but all I can think of right now:

BF is a good place to be. But those half-price Steam sales move thousands of units. Probably not an option for you, though.

Every EoS owner will hate me for this, but:

You took the high road and patched first. No more Mr. Nice Guy. Put together a "quick" expansion with some cool features and a bunch of very different scenarios showing off flexibility of the system. Maybe get a little help from your friends on the scenario design side to ease the time burden. I think most of the buyers of this game would lay down $25 for an expansion based on loyalty alone. At least the ones that aren't hurting financially. If 60% of current owners bought the expansion, what would that do for you. I don't know.

  6. Hi Brit,

Developers in general are becoming more pro-active, but the support you have given this game is unprecedented. I just typed in a relatively long reply, but was not allowed to post. This forum still isn't the same as before the attack.

I will get back to it. Just wanted to show my support for your efforts.

  7. I think they have a "nice price" for the TOW2 bundle, as well.

For what it's worth, I paid full price for the game and expansion ($70 total) and am very happy I did.

You are basically getting a ton of new campaigns, scenarios, maps, units in a bug-free setting (based on my experience). Kursk will be icing on this cake.

    God bless!
