  1. Its beginning to feel alot like ------BONE TIME!!! Get your mind out of the gutter! I meant a CM:Normandy bone...
  2. I have just started the Marines campaign. During the first mission my Sniper teams took a bit of a beating - but I also managed to dish out alot of death from above. Thing is - I took out several buildings in this mission, yet in the second mission those same buildings appear re-built (repaired) and a few other building are destroyed instead. Is ground deformation not carried through from battle to battle accurately? I did a search but couldnt find anything on this...
  3. Well, I bought the base game with all the modules during the week. (from Battlefront, gotta support the team). I am well into the base CMSF Campaign and have to say that I love it!!!! In one mission where I have a stryker team with CAS (two Apaches). Calling in Air support seems a bit strange seeing as they only work to the target area you specify... If a fast moving BTR or Tank exit that area before the Apache arrives then it is safe!! - even just a few metres out of the target area... I understand the friendly fire issue and the difficulties distinguishing between friend and foe from up in the air - but it is rather frustrating to call in 10+ CAS missions for little to no result given that all the targets are fast moving.... Oh! and also what has already been mentioned.... the machine guns on balconies appear on the ground... Other than that, I believe it was $70 (Around $78 AUD) very well spent... Loving the game guys, keep up the good work!!!
  4. Im a major WW2 buff, and the high lethality of modern weapons is probably the main turn-off for me. Knocking out the enemies tanks with strategically placed AT-guns is more my cup of tea as oppose to firing shoulder launched missiles that can target someones nose hairs. Having said that, i still find it fun to play.
  5. Yeah, seeing as I work with 3D and Vray a fair bit I am maybe overly picky. It definitely feels similar (which is great) but also new and improved. The 1 to 1 soldier representation makes losses seem more personal now, graphics, artillery etc... are all a big stp forward.... I have to admit it, I zoom in on the soldiers and try to picture the Normandy game... The WW2 games and modules are definitely going to turn me into a hermit - again!!!!!! (thankfully my girlfriend is understanding)
  6. I have never been a big fan of modern day war games, but having played the latest Demo I am impressed! The vehicle models and movements are beautiful, the lighting is well done (although shadows need a bit of work)... Damage models for both vehicles and building and definitely walls could be alot better - but other than that the game is great fun to play. I was so impressed I am considering buying the game + modules this weekend. Cant wait for Normandy!
  7. Dont they just throw donw their weapons and run away anyhow?
  8. Who's to say those gamey types out there dont just park their Jagdtiger half on a bridge an use it as a roadblock
  9. This could all be solved using exploding Normandy cows.... Kuh Abteilung! oh yeah!
  10. No I didnt mean it as being that detailed (although it would be good). I dont have CMSF (modern doesnt interest me) but from what ive seen the new engine editor can re-create far more detailed ground details etc... I am just hoping that the objects, vegetation, buildings etc... are sufficiently well done to maximise immersion into the game. For me the replayability has alot to to with a realistic look and feel. And no, I dont expect cutting edge graphics - but at least an improvement on the vegetation I have seen in pics and vids of CMSF.
  11. I think bridge demolition should definitely be in, it could be done like Close Combat where the defender has a timer before he can blow it - and the attacker has to take possession for the timer to stop and prevent the bridge being blown. I know it sounds a little arcade-ish the way ive explained it, but it would be nice to have the option to blow the suckers!
  12. Replayability for me will be how good the immersion factor is. Improvement on the trees/plants from what ive seen of CMSF is a must! (and I know they are doing it). The vehicles are already very well done. Soldier details I am sure will be equally well done. Buildings - I hope go beyond the standard 4 walls and a pyramid roof - relying on just textures to show that its a barn or house. ( I realise this can be a memory hog - but it could be done low poly). Also the ability in the map maker to create realistic scenarios off real maps/photos etc... and to have it at least be in the region of looking correct! I dont want much do I Cant wait for this one, pitty it will be after Christmas...
  13. The trees are looking better, but im guessing still somewhat off the finished product? They look more like the shadow mapped foliage - so I assume that you wont get the flat RPC views from above? More like a true 3D tree... There is alot of great vegetation software around now - low polygon vs acceptably realistic looking etc... Vehicle models are looking grand! Would love to see some more building types (you can tell im an Architect) Heck, I would even model anything for free...
  14. Its nail-biting stuff being a WW2 grog waiting for bones....
  15. My heart skipped a beat when I read that... Dont think too long now will ya!
  16. What are you referring to? And while I am at it.... When will we get a bone for Normandy?
  17. That there be no Tiger, that be a Ruski T-34 dressed up to look like a Tiger. The only running Tiger I is in the UK if I remember correctly.
  18. There has always been conflicts around the globe at any one time! The invasion of Poland which prompted the British and the French (and their respective collonies and dominions) to declare war on Germany made it officially a WORLD WAR. Prior to this event I would describe the other events you mentioned as localised conflicts.
  19. I have not purchased CMSF so I do not know how campaigns can be made in that. I assume its like the old CM where we can have a series of linked battles and the map moves along with progress? Is this right? Are we still able to link battles in this way?
  20. Made an ok beer coaster though! Its kind of funny that the games I was dreaming of back then are what you guys are now producing... The years have flown by. But by the same token time seems to stand still whilst we eagerly await the new Normandy game.........Perhaps a bone even! :-)
  21. Haha, I had that game... Frankly the only memories I have of it were playing for hours and yet still feeling like I hadnt done a thing... Probably due to the fact that it took a good hour or so to load a single battle...!!! Had a fair sized manual though if I remember correctly - probably on par with CMx1 Beyond Overlord's.
  22. Not the sort of bone I was hinting at... I am very interested to see how the new buildings and foliage looks, if this looks tip-top then the immersion factor is going to be that much greater!
