  1. ok I have found this graphics fix for the problem now, thanks http://www.battlefront.com/helpdesk/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=119&nav=0,10,7
  2. Hello, I just reinstalled CM1 beyond overlord on my new-ish pc. I was able to load a battle map ok, but all the text on the screen was covered with white strips so that it is not possible to see what is written underneath e.g. ammo or morale status of each unit, or the small amount of text at the very top of the screen. My graphics card is ATI 4850. I understand there have been problems with this graphics card with other more recent combat mission games. Sorry for posting here but on the beyond overlord page I notice there haven't been any posts in the last 30 days. Thanks
  3. ok thanks, just to inform I have yet to try out the demo! i do need to get round to doing this. Once I have, I'll post back here the results.
  4. I have downloaded the demo CMSF_Demo_Setup.exe from the link that you provided. Before I install this demo, please can you confirm that the demo will NOT install SecuROM software on my pc. I had terrible problems with SecuROM software on my last pc and want to delay it getting onto my newly rebuilt pc for as long as possible. Thanks
  5. Hello, I been reading this thread with some concern. I had pc rebuilt recently and swapped out my nvidia 8800 card for an ati 4850. The reason I did this is because the nvidia 8800 card wasn't compatible with some of my older games e.g. medieval: total war1. Now I am reading on here that cm:battle for normandy may not be compatible with my ati card lol. My system specs are: ati 4850 , catalyst 9.6 drivers windows xp sp3 4gb ram Should I download demo of the game and see if it works? If so, what demo should I download and where should I get this from. I should just add I am aware that normandy hasn't been released yet, I am just thinking of the future! Thanks
  6. thanks, I had suspected the ww2 game might be 6-12 months away, though I'm sure it will be well worth waiting for. Plenty of things to be getting on with in the meantime! (just started playing civ4 which might last me for a while). I had suspected the pbem games of cmbo were a lot of fun, unfortunately though it wasn't something I was sufficiently motivated to take up.
  7. thanks for your responses. I did try to have a quick read through this entire thread last night and the closest I could find to an answer (as to when WW2 Normandy might be released) was from an administrator who said something like an announcement would be made in due course. However that post was dated I think October. I didn't know if there had been an update since that time (evidently not!). I did greatly enjoy playing CMBO (I'm not much of a graphics person!) having played countless randomly generated games, with the only major complaint being how underpowered machine guns seemed in the game. Anothing minor issue I found was that the AI never seemed to position it's artillery observers (or any other units) on the top floor of buildings, which seemed strange!
  8. Is there an approximate timescale when CMx2 WW2 Normandy will be available for purchase? thanks (and sorry for the lazy question).
