  1. Hi i never use this button but was wondering if other players do ? it says in manual that it increases awareness. So does it increase spotting time and more importantly increase fire responce time ? So if i am in a ambush position with a tank would it be better to open up the vehicle ?

    Hope someone can help.

    Thanks

  2. Hi I was wondering if there are any plans to increase the map size of battles? in CMSF or in CMSF 2. The present limit is 2160m by 2160m. In CMSF a lot of vehicles that would only come into there own on map sizes of 5000m by 5000m, such as recon vehicles and FISTs. I realise there are problems with large maps, such as save time, graphics problems and file size. Just am interested to know.

    Thanks Paul

  3. hi i run a dell 5.1 speaker system on a soundmax onboard sound card on vista ultimate . i have just run a test in CMSF RT calling in air strikes and when i start game the sound is louder on center speaker, then looses some volume on the center speaker but still plays all sounds on on all speakers, in 5.1 sound. as for airstrike messages it comes out of one speaker depending on my position relitive to the spotter. I did have a problem getting 5.1 to work but now it works great.

Never played CMSF multiplayer myself. How does it actually work? There doesn't seem to be a an ingame lobby to find opponents. How can I find other players?

There are two sites i use www.unitedwargamers.net which is good for getting opponents and www.worldatwar.eu .World at war is not so good for getting opponents but has a ladder system that you can use to keep track of game results, earn medals and gain rank.

    Hope this helps

  5. Hi I am designing a scenario and have a few questions.

    1. When creating a connected building like two 5 story buildings attached to on another only the bottom floor has a connecting door, on all higher floors, inside the building, I can only select windows no doors, so there is no way to allow troops in combat to go from say the fourth floor of one building to the fourth floor in the next building without travelling to the roof or blasting through the wall. I know one way is to make the inside wall destroyed or missing but this is not realistic for big buildings. Does anyone now how to select doors on upper connecting floors? Or will this be changed in later patches?

    2. Red side has a choose of three different bunkers Medium, Machine Gun and Reserve Heavy Machine Gun, but they look the same to me and seem to be able to hold the same number of troops, what is the difference ? And do soft factors effect their strength?

    All input welcome!

    Thanks paul

  6. Hi when I first got this game I was quite disappointed at the number of battles it came with but then I discovered that CMSF is actually a tool to make an endless amount of battles and when I discovered CMMods I was in heaven:D, but now sadly it is closing down and the files on there, good or bad are an endangered species and will die out without some help.

On CMMods there are 401 files of Mods, Battles and Maps for CMSF but on BFC File Repository there are only 164 files.

There must be a way to transfer all the files from CMMods to Repository; I have already downloaded 101 files. I am willing to sort them out and upload them, if I can upload more that 10 files in one day, if 3 other people could do the same in communication with each other, then it can be done, without loosing any files.

    Thanks

  7. Hi I play a lot of PBEM games, with the British Module, hopefully, less than a month away. My question to BFC is will the V1.12 Patch be released at the same time? This will greatly effect if I will start any new PBEM at this late date, as they will then be unplayable with the new patch. Hope to here an official response soon.

    Thanks

  8. hi just started my new 64bit system and am having problems with cmsf files. i have the old files on a seperate hard drive which when i copy into CMSF it shows in the folder but does not show up in the game (btt and ema files). Have even copied whole game out of programs folder and placed a copy in c: directly, sill no difference, can see no files in game, in battles except what came with game, and saves stay blank no ema files showing up. can see btt files in editor but opens as blank.

    hope someone can help

Default Combatant mortars in Asmar Crossing

Asmar Crossing was my scenario. I simply added mortars (I used U.S. 120mm mortars) to the Combatant's force. The way I did this was simply to change the scenario type as listed under "data" and "force v. force" from "red v. red" (which is the type it was generally) to "blue v. blue." Then, I could select "blue" forces for either side. I added the U.S. mortars to the combatant's side. Then I changed the "data" "force v. force" selection back to "red v. red," again allowing my to choose "red" forces for either side.

With the U.S. mortars (or for that matter artillery or air assets), any of the Combatant HQ units can be used to call in indirect fire. There is no reason to consider those off-map mortars to be specifically American, since they are not actually seen. In the context of the Asmar Crossing scenario, they are assumed to belong to the insurgents.

Hi thank you very much for that tip, it is brilliant, it opens a whole new avenue for designers, thanks again. Paul
  10. Hi if you use emergency fire in the mission, this would explain it as emergency uses no spotting rounds and in my experience can land anywhere on the map or even off the map. I never use this function because it is so inaccurate. I rather use heavy mission or a lower mission. It takes longer, due to spotting {about 3 rounds for US and about 5 to 8 rounds for red}, but at least your artillery is more accurate, and you do not stand the chance of accidentally shelling your own troops.

    Hope this helps.
