  1. I have been through the Russian Training scenarios. Now I am working through the "tiny" scenarios. Scenario "RAS Point 133" has a green German Inf company supported by two Stug attacking two weakly supported Sov 76 AT guns. There is some cover for the attacker but not too much. I have been getting badly shot up on several tries. My suppression fire doesn't seem to suppress anyone and fast movement gets infantry killed while slow, methodical movement does better but I run out of time and bullets before I reach the objective. Also the AT guns have an uncanny ability to get first shot kills on the Stug. So, trying to figure out what is going on I replayed from the Sov side. Now my defenders are suppressed about half the time but are still effective mowing down green infantry in the open, no problem. The AT guns, on the other hand, take a half-dozen hits to kill one Stug while the STug hits them in the woods for a second-shot kill. It is making me think that my luck is really bad or the play balance is quite tilted toward the AI. I'd be happy to hear any thoughts on the matter.
  2. Finally got decent result - only 3 KIA and a MAJOR vicory, capturing the first flag. Thanks Jason C, a great lesson! Used Move to Contact and Advance + Hide to move the center force (2 platoons) to the rough terrain to the right of the first flag with the company hq plus attached squads providing fire support and Sneaking into range to avoid getting ruined. Also used smoke in front of the wood area in the center to calm down the MGs while we go into position. The platoon on the right made it to the house and woods on their side and were able to give support from there. The platoon on the left moved only a short distance to the close rough and fired. All the mortars expended everything. The close support infantry guns were killed early by the AT gun, as in every previous try. They don't seem to last long in the open. Managed to get to the center flag and rough terrain with 2 platoons plus the company HQ without much routing but could not advance further due to no remaining mortar ammo to support a fast advance and no time to do it slower. The German counter attack cost them a lot as my forces were in decent cover. Could have made it the rest of the way with more mortar ammo and ten more turns. Thanks again, Jason C
  3. Truly a nooob, here, playing the CMAK demo. In the demo scenario set in Italy with US advancing v. Germans in a town, I had made pretty good progress and I thought the game was in the bag, but .... The final flag location is just across a bridge leaving town on the other side. I have armor and infantry pretty well mixed up by the end of the scenario as I am mopping up the village and grabbing the flags. Then a tiger showed up on the road across the bridge. He immediately killed an exposed Sherman and a Stuart which was guarding my left flank. So I got punished. But then I advanced a pair of Shermans through some trees and buildings on my right to support the infantry cleaning out a flag location. I thought the tanks were obscured from the Tiger's position; wrong. Now this is the good part. In the middle of the turn the Sherman, which I think had a Hunt order, saw the 88 shell burst, popped smoke and reversed behind a stone wall. I am impressed, that strikes me as excellent AI. I will be ordering the CM bundle immediately.
