  2. Pulled From Wiki. DIN, an acronym for the German Deutsches Institut für Normung (German Institute for Standardization), and the name of an increasingly large realist sans-serif typeface family. In 1936 the German Standard Committee selected DIN 1451 as the standard typeface for use in the areas of engineering, technology, traffic, administration and business. Among the other recommendations adopted by this committee was an early precursor to the typographic grid. The earliest version of a DIN typeface was released by the D Stempel AG foundry in 1923. Stempel's design was based on a 1905 typeface for the Königlich Preußische Eisenbahn-Verwaltung (Royal Prussian Railway Administration) and was applied mostly to schematics and blueprints. This version later became the basis for DIN-Engschrift (Condensed). In 1929, the Berthold foundry released a version, and it, too, was used mostly for technical drawings. Both of the early DIN typefaces were made available as lettering templates cut from an acetate material for drafting use. Both of the earliest DIN typefaces were used primarily in oblique form. Popularity grew rapidly, once the DIN typeface was adopted. The most widely-used of the DIN-1451 group was DIN-Mittelschrift (Medium). It was released as a metal type, as acetate stencils for smaller applications, as larger metal stencils for application to vehicles and in train yards, and as cast metal lettering for street and building signage. Polish and Cyrillic variants of the face were developed in the 1940s. Though Bauhaus used a DIN-inspired logo in catalogs and in a periodical during the 1930s, DIN did not become popular in print until the 1960s. The transferable-lettering-sheet company, Letraset made several variants available in the 1970s. By the late 1980's, use of DIN typefaces were appearing in European and North American graphics work. In 1995, Dutch typeface designer Albert-Jan Pool drew a multi-weight version, eventually licensing it to FontShop International as FF DIN. The FF DIN family, unlike DIN 1451, uses simplified-standard weight names.

  4. Mord, which model, early, mid, or late, was that issue showing up on? I was popping in and of game to view them so I obviously completely over looked it. I Will take a look at it this evening and Update as soon as possible. In the future I may just have to abuse you as an exclusive beta tester
  5. Thank you Mord. I learned a lot from this project. I really hope BF fixes the bug with the Panther A Early using the one of the Mid's LOD models. Basically, for anyone that works on the panther if you want to make 2 different early and mid textures you have to make sure they are very similar or as you move the camera away from the early Panther its LOD model will switch back and forth showing up as a mid Panther at various ranges. From what I can tell the Late does not have this issue.
  6. This mod only replaces the A model Panthers so the others will remain the stock skin. So, if you are looking at a Panther G it will be stock.
  7. Almost done biggest issue now is that I have to make sure the the early, mid, and late all match up seeing as turrets and bodies are swapped in game.
  8. I also wanted to mention that I found the game will mix turrets between the hulls of the early, mid, and late A models. The problem I have with this is that if I make 3 different tanks I risk seeing them cobbled together. I wonder what other models do this? BF, I ask, Was this intended?, would you consider fixing this?..
  9. So I was asked what the Camo pattern was based on. Well I wont lie I was motivated by a die-cast toy. I'm an artist first and sometimes I'll chase an aesthetic over historical accuracy. So, I decided to do a little looking and found that the model was based on a real Panther. The tank was part of the 17. Panzer Division and was lost in the Czarna Nida river in Poland. It was fished out in 2003 and sits in the White Eagle Museum - Skarzysko-Kamienna Poland. The tank is actually a G model not the mid A model I have done here. So....., Im thinking I may have to make the adjustments to convert it to the proper model. Thanks for the kind words everyone. Wyseman76
  10. This is far from finished as there are lots of little touch ups and such to be done. I'm trying to streamline my process so I can work through more than one of these at a time. Really tough having to jump in and out of game to get camo alignments and such correct. Oh and yes, I really worked this beast over as far as battle-wear and weathering, but I was having such fun. I hope to have her finished and on the Repo soon.
  11. I think these points are pretty manageable as a modder. I will say that it is almost impossible to avoid updated versions though, do to the ever increasing variables in more complex mods. We all overlook something now and then, but I do see your point, in reducing excessive updates.
  12. Hmm, posting ring worms interesting concept. I'm with mord I would download every update every half hour if that were the case. These changes, as the Screen Shots attest too, increase the relative fidelity of the game. I will wait, but I wont promise I'll be calm. Cheers to your good work.
  13. These are some of my Flames of War models I've painted and I would love to be able to get the CMBN tanks dressed up like these. Mind you these are waaaay smaller than 1/35.
  14. If you use this with Veins the officers and crew will stay the way Veins are but the others will change. That is of course as long as this mod loads last.
  15. I personally have always equated the CM series to the closest thing in PC based "tabletop" warfare gaming. (Flames of War, Warhammer / 40k, Warmachine, etc..) The games mechanics trump graphics in all respects but with the newer engine the graphics have greatly improved for the betterment of immersion without compromising what is important, the mechanics.
  16. Very Nice, I like this a lot, I too feel the original is way to saturated this is much more subdued and feels a lot better.

  18. Thanks for the kind words everyone, I will certainly continue to work on CMBN. The historical accuracy is definitively something I have a lot to learn about. I must add that there are a few places in the UVmap that stretch a bit more than I would like but I can not correct that as it is on BF's end. With that stretching I find that to much detail makes it all the more noticeable and just does not look well. With single colors, as the default uniforms are, it is for the most part unnoticeable. Vehicles and such have been more my thing as far as texture work goes but I just had to give clothing a try. Glad I did.
  19. Clean version of M43 conversion to 12th SS Panzer Division Hitlerjugend has been submitted to the repository. Crew and Officers are untouched as of yet. After I get the dirt and mud right I will add a dirty version, and then move on to the officers and crew.
  20. Nice info I have yet to dig into the editor. As for water my only complaint to BF is the uniform glare when your looking at the water from some angles. It tends to look solid white and not like water. Great finds Mord. Wyseman76

  22. GSX , Aragorn2002 as for Wehrmacht camo, It is very likely that when I am done with this I will move to said camo as there are quite a few types used even if rarely. My reason for doing this was the inspiration drawn from learning about the 12th. I might even recommend you yourselves give skinning a shot, it's never to late to learn a new hobby Wyseman76
  23. Earl Grey, You are quite correct, I can find no official info on cap covers other than what may or may not have been made by troops on the field. So I'm scrapping the covers. I took it for granted that the reenactors would stay true to the part, as is stand on the covers it seems it is more a matter desire than official truth. Thanks for the heads up. Wyseman76
  24. George MC, As soon they are ready. Wiggum, Yes, I did not have AA on but I do run on Best/Best but those are compressed .jpg's. next time I'll turn on AA and will refrain jpg compression. Earl Gray, I am assuming you are talking about an actual Dot-44 helmet, if so you can google waffen helmet covers and can find plenty of examples. You can also go to www.kompanie1.co.uk a WWII re-enactment society and take a look at their uniform requirements. If you were talking about the screen shots the first image has a soldier wearing one. ------------------- I will be working on some minor bugs and alignment issues today and if all is well i'll hopefully post a clean set tonight, no promises of course.   25. Ok a quick update. Ok so I have settled on staying away from the camo used on Tarnjacke / Smocks as they are not modeled so the tunics will all be Dot-44 for non officers. I added Italian 3 color trousers, as they are a 12th specialty. And ofcourse the Dot-44 and standard M43 trousers. I have yet to add the dirt and I still have some touch ups to do but this is my progress so far. Enjoy.! Wyseman76
