  1. where exactly are the scenarios or CMBB on CMMODS??? I thought only mods...
  2. Deciding to freshen up on my tactics and decided to give the advanced tutorial a go (from the manual) using the Jaegermeister scenario Unfortunately, I think there is some typos in the manual and can't really figure out where to place what troops where. The tutorial says to split your forces into 3 groups, task force A, task force B and a Recon Detachment (???) I'm supposed to use force A and set up in the middle behind a ridge, send force B to a hill on the right, and the recon detachment (and I'm not sure which squads these are supposed to be) also to the hill on the right. Low and behold, according to the manual, by turn 10, Force B should have reached the hill on the left side??? even though it said earlier to send them right... and I can't even figure out which hill on the left side as this map doesn't seem to have any landmarks labelled (i checked shift-L a few times and nothing came up) any advice??
  3. perhaps as newbie as you can get but can someone explain to me tank/anti-tank gun information? For example, "7.5cm KwK 42 L/70" the gun found on a Panther tank. I'm sure the 7.5cm represents the diameter of the barrel but what about KwK, 42 and L/70? L represents Length of the barrel? If so, 70 what? certainly not cm. also for many of the german anti-tank guns.. "4.2cm Pak 41" for example. 4.2cm is obviously the calibre, but what about Pak 41??? thanks
  4. hey, thanks for all that advice, I'll certainly try to implement it the next time I play it in that scenario, I do have some SPW 251/2's, the mortor ones but couldn't figure out exactly how to use them effectively. I've found that most of the russian guns on this map may have lines of sight up to 1000m and many many supporting troops hidden in woods around the guns so it makes for quite a challenge. This being a steppe map, I always had my vehicles bogging and probably lost around 10 halftracks, a some tanks this way. I've played through this battle once, lost 2 PzIIIs, 6 Pz IVs, and none of my tigers. The russians had a lot of T-34s waiting for me over a hill but the tigers basically took everything out. Most of my halftracks were destroyed by the guns though..
  5. Hey all, I'm trying out one of B&T scenarios, Opening Moments I think the name was...dealing with the start of the Kursk Offensive, operation citadel july 1943 Playing as the Germans and the Russians have a hell of a lot of hidden anti-tank guns, which also seem to be pretty effective against my infantry too Trying to find some effective ways of attacking these positions without suffering to many losses? Any tips like how should I approach them or what formations to use? This battle, I have 8 Tiger Tanks at my disposal and they very well seem to be impenetrable and their guns can take out just about anything at range. Also have 5 Panzer III's and 10 IV's.. and a side opinion, which is the better tank to use? Pz IIIs or IVs? IIIs seem to have better frontal armor while the IVs have a more powerful gun
  6. hey guys, Can anyone recommend a good website to get cmbb mods?? I'm currently using cmmods.com and they have a lot, but its a pain in the ass to click on every link then see what the mod actually looks like.. I really liked the layout of combatmission.com, where I can see what I'm getting right away. Any similar sites out there for CMBB?? cheers all
  7. Playing some quick battles and choosing which units to take part in battles, noticing that the unit cost for Panthers are more than Tigers. Looking at both regular and veteran units I would have assumed that Tigers being the more heavily armed and armored would have a higher unit cost value but apparently not. Were Panthers, overall, a better tank than the Tigers?
  8. perhaps this has been answered before, but I'm fairly new here... I was playing a mission, I was the allies and the germans had a King Tiger deployed on the field. I had one squad of Riflemen in the 2nd floor of a building who had a line of sight on the Tiger. I would figure that they would do the smart thing and not fire at it at all but lo and behold they did, and even when I told them to hide and cancel target, they began shooting at it again. The tank, at that moment, was opened up and perhaps they were firing at the exposed crewman, but they were a good 600m away and weren't hitting much. On the flipside, the tank spotted my troops and fired in a few HE rounds, killed 5 of the 12 troops. Can anyone explain to me why on earth would these infantrymen start shooting at such a dangerous tank? How do I get my troops to wait until the enemy is closer before engaging or do I have to micromanage my squads/
