  2. The same here in Germany. I read s lot of stories about Talonsofts Pacific Strike, CDVs Sudden Strike - What you would believe? They wrote (in those german magazines) that Pacific Strike is bad - the old graphics ..., but Sudden Strike is cool, because of the very good graphic and the deep strategic .... You know all, that Sudden Strike is really nice to look upon - but is so bad for an grognard. Talonsofts graphic is not the best, but for a grognard it´s (so i think) still an alternativ to play (editor ...). I´m so angry about those guys in those mags. No word about CM - the reason for this is, that they have no information, that they are not interested in (grognard games) - and so, i remember the days, computer games in germany were only something speciall for computer kiddis, it´s only commercial to write about games everyone want´s to play and so the mag sells enough. Nothing against commercial reasons - but, ... or no .... it´s good - cause with CM, there will be a game, that finds his fans from mouth to mouth (sorry my english) and this is the best thing a product can have. Uhhh, again, i´m so happy in this forum, cause i can see here, that i´m not alone - with my love for wargames. Greetings to all Jochen
  3. Hi Steve, thanks a lot. Yes, i asked myself, why nobody else said it before. Moon gave me an E-Mail and said nearly the same things to me - and of course, the game is still super. I saw the "problem" with the 2nd floor especially in Riesberg (playing the Germans), when all Shermans are knocked out and an Infantrybattle is going on. In this case i won every time against the AI, cause i used the 2nd floors in a combination of longrange fire squads, protected by SMG-Squads in the groundfloor - well, as you said...., last night i nearly lost the battle against the US (heheh). But again, as my military training was, we learned at the german army to take those upperfloors to get all the angles and firepositions against an attacking enemy. Cause of that, i thougt, CM is very realistic, so this should be in the game - regardless if i am the only person in 6 months. Steve, Moon said, that you are still working on that AI-2ndfloor story, especially in CM2, and if not .... i still love the game and you all at BTS. Would like to see, that a 50.cal MG is entering the 2ndfloor of a lonsome farmhouse to kick my ass ......... you know what i mean.

  5. No, no Kraut. YOU can, but the AI can also, but not during the battle, only in the setup phase. The AI won´t use the 2nd floor during battle!
  6. Hi Steve, thanks for your answer, you are very kind. I don´t want to bring up a new dicussion at this time for the using of 2ndfloor using - but, hmmmm, i think it´s one of the most important things in urban fighting and in every military tactic, to get a higher ground position (hills, houses...) to fight the enemy. Of course, it would be a lot of work to code the AI NOW for that, but for a game like CM, i think it´s essential to have the use of the second floor, - for what are there second floor buildings anywere, if during the battle they are not used. Only blocking LOS, eyecandy?? As a commander i can´t say to my soldiers "Hey, guys, don´t use the second floor, cause there you can be seen better and shot at!". They could answer me "But, from there we can see even the enemie better, to shoot at him!" - So, what? Don´t get me wrong - i know, that we can not have all in CM. But i´m little bit disapointed about the "non 2nd using". For CM2 (Stalingrad...) - will it be there in? You know all, that if an enemie squad is in the 1st flooor, your MG in the 2nd floor still can shoot at other lociations... (Sorry, my english is not good enough to explain exactly what i wanna say, but i hope you´ll get it anyhow, hrrgmmm). Well, as a defender, as you said, i can put my troops on the 2nd floor, will the AI do this to, by setting up the troops before the battle beginns? Thanks a lot! Greetings from Germany Jochen
  7. Yeah, even when there are enemie tanks - it makes sense. But, for example, in CE, the us-troops (AI), after the Stugs are killed, could defend them in much better way, if they would put their MGs in the 2nd-floor of the two farmhouses and the church. Please, anyone here of BTS, give me an answer. Jochen

Sorry, but i still wanna know (even by getting on your nervs, dear BTS-Team), is it a bug that will be fixed, that the AI-Squads don´t enter the 2nd floor of the buildings - like it is in the beta??? It´s very important, to my opinion, that they should do - better fireposition, better LOS ..., especially in urban fightings. Sorry for my pressure - but please answer me.   9. Yeah, i hope that they will sell eneough CMs to survive, to get rich and successful and so to stay independent ... to work on for my gaming pleasure ... hehehehe. Could we buy bonds of BTS??? (So this would ensure, that they will have future money to realise new WARGAME-GROGNARD-GAMES). Sorry, we Germans are at the moment in the Bondfever...
  10. PzElite is a Simulation - you´re inside the tank. Its graphic is very good - i think it is the best simulation for tanks. But, for me ..... i like WWII Battles like CM.
  11. Still my question is left - do computertroops take 2nd floor in the finalgame. At the moment i´ve seen no computersquad take, after the battle has begun, the upperfloor of any building. Please answer me. Thanks J.
  12. Aha, i´ve found some snswers to my questions with the searchfunction. Oh my god, what a good game AI (read the articles of Fion, Steve ...) but one question still is open: "Topfloor-Using" by computertroops. (Well, i couldn´t believe it, that the BTS-Guys don´t know and fix that). But, i still would be very happy to get an answer to this remaining question. Greetings to all - i can´t wait any longer to get this damned good game, wich makes all my dreams come true, since my first Squad Leader game 1984.

To #1 - yes, i mean after the battle has begun. - I tried it in CE again (only watching the computer moving ... - no entering of topfloors - but it would make really sense - better fireposition, better overlook) #2,3,4 ahhh, gooooood! #5 - hmmm, but if there are 3 burning Shermans standing on the street, the 4th should be a little bit more careful, shouldn´t he? J.
  14. Now, that the releasedate is known, i still want to discuss some things about the AI. I posted last week, that the AI of CM is the best i ever played - and i´m so happy about this. - But, i always win the games (?) - not every time - last night i played Riesberg for the "i don´t know how often time" as US and got only a draw - what a great fight!!!! I love it, that every new game is totally different and new again - even by knowing the enemy positions (i play like it would be the first time for me, or in other words, as i would be responsible for my men and material, or, like any military commander, who has to plan his attack to an unknown enemy.) o.k., o.k., some people will say know, stop this praying to BTS - but, THIS GAME IS REALLY GREAT AND HAS THE BEST AI EVER PLAYED BEFORE - Thank you BTS again. But, i´ve found some things i wanna ask. 1. i´ve never saw the computer take the topfloors of multy-story-buildings to get a better fireposition 2. by attacking, the computer seems to lack a little bit with the coordination of his forces. Don´t get me wrong, but i have a feeling of "there could be more pressure to me". 3. in most games, the computer never used his arty against buildings (especially Riesberg) - some times the US Fwo is running directly into my defensive fire (by playing the germans) 4. in every game, the computer is the attacker, - when his squads are nearly wiped out and there is only one man left, this poor guy is running straight to my positions, tries to attack and then is captured or killed - should this be an act of heroism or is it a bug? 5. Sometimes (Riesberg) there a kill-zones by the 88s. But the Shermans don´t try to avoid them. Whups, that all, i guess. Sorry, if some of this questions has been ask before, but i didn´t found much solutions with the searchfunction (only big disussions). Could you give me an answer to my questions. Will these points be fixed or changed??? (I preordered the game yet, so, you won´t do any thing wrong by answering me - heheheheh). Thanks a lot again - and please excuse my not perfect english.   15. Oh, oh ... Like in this forum, i was a member in the AoW-Forum. After release, I was very disappointed about the game AI. The game itself is really beautiful, but the AI is really bad!!!!!!!! There had been much more to come out of AoW - hmmmm, what a pitty. Try Heroes of Might and Magic - it´s graphics are ugly, but the game is top. So, i´m very happy, that Cm seems to be a good game in every part, even in the AI and graphics. Greetings from Germany - Jochen
  16. I think BTS is doing right. Here in Germany, most people are shocked by the word "wargame". As i read in the statements above, the same happens in the states? - Talonsoft tries to avoid the word wargame! So, it is very important to be independend to make wargames!!!!!! The next point is the community of "Hardcore-Wargamers" like me. The best example is Falcon 4.0 - too less people are interestet in this "difficult" game - most people like to play on the surface not in the depth. So Falcon and it´s future is stopped - reason of shareholder value? I like to see a "little" company making an individual wargame with a lot of depth. (Sorry, my english isn´t the best - but i hope you understand what i try to say). Go on BTS!

  18. The sound i hear, when i´m naked und looking in the mirror, is a loud "WOOOOOWWW!" .... Ups, I´m surprised about all the postings for incoming sound ... what have I done? No, but again, like Fionn said, there will be "incoming" sound? - Would be great. Jochen

  21. Hi again, everybody! My question this time is (perhaps it had been discussed before, but i didn´t find it yet): Will there be sound of incoming Arty? In the Beta i can only hear the explosion of the shells! Wouldn´t it be cool, if there would be an awesome: Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiaaaaaaaaaaabuuuuuuuuummmmmmm!?   24. Congratulations! This is the best AI I ever played. I´m very impressed about the "not time the same again". Just played Riesberg as the Germans and won.
