  1. Ok I've played Aleppo International Airport!

First of all I liked the map. The difference between residential/commercial/industrial building zones are evident and quite interesting:

The residential area is full of small houses all placed nearby the other, so you get a convincing mid east confusion style... quite nice!

The industrial area is made of larger buildings, I liked them because the actual game doesn't represent specifically industrial buildings so that we few we happey few scenario designer have to work with what's there. Taking out windows and buildign larger buildings seems to be the way for now (maybe some more textures or different windows styles could help a lot)!

The best building effort in the map is for sure the terminal, I'm sure it took its time to be made but it worth it! Really nice!

The map is interesting because it represent open spaces with wide line of fires and contraint spaces (residential area) with close hand to hand combat.

I'd like to see more units in that area in order to be able to try some better tactics with the house cleaning... smile.gif

Finally I liked the general scenario although I'm a fan of smaller (in terms of time only) scenarios maybe with more vehicles at disposal.

I will look forward for next versions!

    My compliments for this one.

  2. Nono, that's impossible.

You cannot control let's say a single M1 while the other 3 of that platoon are controlled by AI following the AI plan.

For future developments I've read somewhere on these forums the idea of 2vs2 or more players fighting a map with multiple units at their disposal will be implemented somehow. By that time maybe you will be able to assign the AI some allied units while you control some of them or a single one.

At the moment though there's no way to do such thing.

  3. Normal Dude, I'm starting now to play your scenario.

If you want to add some sort of civilian vehicles you could do like I did for those few I added to my scenario: pick some unconventinal transport units and set them as "destroyed", then place them where you want with deploy red command and there you go: you got some vehicles which actually will look OK but won't get any difference in the playtime.

  4. Actually I've not understood your problem...

IF you are trying to make the AI play against the AI keep in mind that this is impossible.

As for a quick battle is should work like this:

you plan StratAI plans for both sides. Then you pick one side and play against the other, which should use the plan you ordered.

See also if you correctly apply and create the plans and if you save correctly the scenario.

  5. One big problem related to modern armor is that we don't have so many information as we have about older armor.

We simply cannot be sure about M1 restistances since:

-we don't have perfect informaton of what it's made of

-we don't have full access to all tests made by US army about this matter

-we cannot access large statistics data about this matter

-we don't have good reference on armor-vs-gun confrontation all-around (apart some data taken from Desert Storm)

Since in any case there's too much speculation and too many information are desumed or presumed I think that actual game conditions are quite good.

Maybe in the year 2080 people will know something we actually ignore or don't know.

  6. I think that IDF would be great because it could be presented both as conventional land forces and unconventional warfare specialists.

    Pro IDF:

-vehicles and weapons from 1947 to 2007.

(from AMX-13 and M4 Shermans to Merkava MK3 etc.)

-great selection of Unconventional warfare vehicles (M113/Humvee based and based upon tanks' hulls)

It would represent a continuum quite good since terrain and actual CMSF setup would allow without any problem IDF presence.

    Cons:

-Some more arab countries should be involved and unconventional warfare OPFOR side should be granted more weapons too.

    Actually I've thought about that!

First of all as regarding the shadows I'm glad they aren't there, since modern planes go much faster than old ones... So might be difficult even to see the shadow.

What I'd like to be added though is some more sounds!

Actually when something just "explodes" you might guess it's that airplane you called, but think about how immersive and suggestive would be to hear first a low-altitude strike with supersonic engines blasting, just after that some bomb or missile shrinking the air and then the boom!

    I'd love to.

I downloaded it, unzipped it and copied it in the appropriate scenarios folder as .btt file, but after starting the game it doesn't show in the battle screen ? am I missing something here ?

The only strange thing is, when looking at the game via the file manager the names of files are given in german, but I installed it in English and it is only English when I'm in the game .... so the new battle file is the only one in english when now looking it up in the file manager ....

I've discovered that in my installaton of CMSF there are parts in French, parts in English, parts in German... FOUND ANOTHER BUG!
  9. First of all thank you all for your compliments, I really appreciate that.

Now I've added some more minutes to the map.

Although don't play too conservative, try to make some rush also, sincerely I didn't thought about a too long game since I considered aggressive tactics by US side, anyway anyone plays his way smile.gif .

About the file type I think WinRar is almost universal now...

About the the download site I'm sorry but this is what I found. I've never uploaded anything than images on imageshack so I really don't know where to refer.

Ok added the new long version in WinZip format.

    Here's a screen on what/where/how to download:

  10. Hello. To be honest i dont like people saying just negative things about a brand new game but unfortunately this game almost only got negative things.

------->I had this as a first impression, still I think that there are too many problems for a brand new game, yet I've had quite some fun and I'm appreciating more and more the game.

The performance is often extremly bad. Even people with high end machines got lot of lag.

-----Did you try those improvements suggested over and over on the forums? I've had some really better stability and fluid graphics ordering the use of a single CPU unit to my dual core CPU.

The AI is not the best on market. You tell em to avoid the road - and, what do they do - they drive as far as they can on road to do the last meters on desert - then they wonder they get shot!!!

---->you might have had some problems with pathfinding, I've had a lot of thoughts about AI and I'm a great critic of it.

The view of the units is incomprehensibly. A humvee spotted 10 opposing units and the AIV near by can just see two units...

----> well, this depends upon single situation, maybe you got a bug maybe this might represent different spotting abilities for different units.

One of the biggest probs for me, i say me cos im not sure if someone else got the same problem, is that i cant make a square around my units to select em all at once - if i try the game freezes for ca. 3-4 seconds.

-----> maybe it's a bug, maybe using some tweaks and trycks described on the forums you'll resolve these freezes (I had them too).

The tank coms are the baddest ive ever seen. They see an enemy in front and...what do they do - nothin...

-----> well, this also depends on single situations, I cannot say anything about this comment of yours unless you give us proper information fo what/where/when/who/how etc.

Theres a lot more to say but i think its enough. Hope 4-5 patches will fix all this problems in near future!!!

----> I hope this too, seems next very close patch will give us some more optimization and correct some major bugs. For better gameplay and in-deep improvements I think we'll need to wait some more weeks, maybe some months.

  11. Sry guys I had to pack it up with WinRar since the plain format wasn't easy to upload, at least it seems so.

Anyway you can get it unpacked easily.

Oh by the way if you people like the map I'll try to set up some forces configuration for multiplayer only. Like pure armor or pure mechanized or light mechanized etc.

We'll see, otherwise you can do it yourselves.

I'll prepare more AI plans in order to get the map played by Syrian side too and more plans for the Syrian managed by computer...

    Have fun.

PS: quick shot about how those hangars were made:
