I tried reading through the older Peng thread and the recent one ("If a peng falls in the forest...) but it made no sense whatsoever to me. Someone care to explain?

We really need this. I'm sure it will help CMSF's popularity to soar. Nothing more frustrating than having trouble getting multiplayer matches going with a brand new (i.e.: non-dead) game.
-
My question is, when he's talking about the great "tactical AI" is that referring to say, the OPFOR AI's ability to beat you? In previous CMs, enemy AI was quite poor. I hope it's been improved. (though I'll probably be playing online all the time anyways).
Since there's no in-game matchmaking, what do most people use to find opponents right away? (other than posting in the forum, because then you have to wait for a reply)

How does the sniper rifle system work anyhow? Is it a sort 80% chance of hitting the target in which case the individual soldier in the squad dies (like say, in Company of Heroes) or is it more abstract?
-
Just wondering but will the game ship with scenarios with blue vs. blue etc...? Or do we have to make our own? Or can we simply use an existing map and place blue and blue or red and red units down on it? IS there still a "buy units" options in the game?
Sorry for all the [badly worded] questions

Make a vid w/ fraps for those of us in the deep south pretty please?

Does the standard (non deluxe) version not have a printed manual included (only a PDF one maybe)? How long is the manual approx.?

Isn't that a Russian submachine gun?
Thought I recognized it from Red Orchestra (FPS game)

Interesting that most players are picking Syrians. In most games, the majority of players typically chose the U.S or "human" side (in sci fi games)
-
@ Sergei
I'll probably play Syrians online (vs other humans that is)... I love to take the "weaker" side and obliterate the more traditional, brute force, armies in games with unusual tactics.
-
My thoughts exactly. It may be possible to balance conflicts like this with widely divering parameters, but it's no fun to have such a lame victory condition as that! Who DOESN'T want to overrun and completely annihilate their opponent (especially if it's a human)??? Seems it won't really be possible in most cases in Syrian vs. US fights.Originally posted by Panzer76:Well, from what Ive read, the "balance" lies in the scenario parameters. For instance, the US force needs to destroy 75% of Syrian Forces while the Syrian only have to destroy 2 Strykers to win.
While you may say that this is "balanced" from a Win/Loose POV, it sure doesnt seem very balanced when it comes to actually playing the game, fighting, and having fun.
Imagine playing as the Syrian side. You always have to sneak around, always play on the defensive, always try to ambush, and be happy if your able to get a 1-10 kill ratio. Yeah, that seems like fun!...
Regardless, the game will be great, I look forward to blue on blue scenarios.

Any chance we can get a webcast from this ?

That last humvee looks like it was obliterated, I'm pretty sure I saw large pieces of it flying through the air.
It's fairly ironic that music is included in this vid, as Islam specifically prohibits singing and the use of musical instruments other than drums/percussion and chanting.

Do they really have THAT much spare ammo???
-
Yeah I hope it's something like Company of Heroes (which is a system strikingly similar to Full Spectrum Warrior's)

Just turn this into the hot chick thread. Battlefront already said IDF is out of the question.

Mila Kunis > Alizee IMO (though she is freaking pretty):

The part where she speaks Russian nearly killed me from sheer bliss.
But with Mila and Alizee I think we can all agree that Brunettes > Blondes by a LOT.

Just curious but are non-SF troops allowed to use whatever kind of weaponry they want (within reason) if they provide it themselves?

Will it add a campaign as well?Originally posted by rune:Confirmed.

What the heck is a "module" anyways? Add-on pack?

What's this "buddy aid" thing? Care to go into details?Originally posted by Moon:After buddy aid is successfully completed, the body disappears. This is both a feature to simulate that the casualty has been extracted/saved as well as a way to reduce the impact on framerates from having tons of bodies lying around. Having said that... buddy aid only happens when you keep the units stationary. If you move them, the caualties are left behind. This will likely cost you some points, and will also leave the bodies visible until mission end.
As with the previous games (and as you can see from the Teen rating), no mutilation or gore is shown. That has no place in a tactical strategy game.
Martin
Also, since no "gore or mutilation" is shown, what happens when a soldier is shot, does he just fall down or what?

It's pretty amazing I can be sitting here in my room half a world away from this stuff, first WATCHING the actual bomb explosion from the Insurgent point of view and then reading about and seeing pictures of the guys who survived it. Wish we'd had this kind of media coverage during world war II (and no I wasn't alive then, but I was thinking it'd be great for posterity, namely me )
