Yes, i was betting on that, same thing hapens when i try using the keyboard commands on the 7.7 drivers.Originally posted by Zebulon Pleasure Beast:Ok, I take back my statement about the game being playable, whenever I try to use commands other than move the game crashes.
The bug seems left click related, no matter were you click, units or terrain.

Funny thing, here in Portugal we usually say that you guys are in the overseas, not us.
I think you guys are seeing things the wrong way, Columbus started from here and reach the overseas there, not the other way !

Uninstalled the ATI drivers, i was surprised that the game launched, and the grafics were good and with good framerate, but left click crash is still there.
Looks like the card really needs a good driver that solves the issue, the current from ATI and microsoft default don´t do the trick.

OK, i will unistall ATI drivers and try.

Well this time both nvidia and ATI have screwed up drivers for their new cards.Originally posted by Redwolf:When I upgraded my 7800GTX to the newest drivers 162.18 I got stuck at 640x480 in CM:SF (although other games run normally at 1600x1200 and 1920x1200).
I have been unable to resolve this so far. In 640x480 I can also see that the graphics artifact I wanted to fix (slight zerba stripes) were still there, so the update was useless anyway.
People with updated ATI drivers are having good framerate and quality but are crashing when left cicking with the mouse.
Only been able to play in "spectator mode" á la counter strike, i can look but i can´t touch.
Blody Vista and its openGL support !

Thats the problem with "Windows Blody Vista TM" !Originally posted by rune:I will continue to work on this, I have found all sorts of games ahving problems with the 7.7s and opengl. Hopefully I can come up with something if I find someone else has a work around. Will email Charles, if we are REALLY lucky maybe a work around...but if we do and they fix their drivers, it may break the game again. Will be back, doing more research.
Rune
We will eventually be screwed by it again, and again.
Many thanks rune.

No, but i heard about. It it seems dangerous, i am not as good with software to risk it ! :eek:Originally posted by Zebulon Pleasure Beast:Has anyone tried the Catalyst 7.8 leaked beta?

I don't know I was in charge of scenarios and tested with my three rigs. 2 of which run Vista.
Anyway can someone test a driver for me with the ATI card? Make sure it isn't one of the brand spanking new cards.
Try this and let me know.
Link remopved since it is for XP only.

Stay cool tarball, battlefront is being bombarded with the normal issues of a new release, and they were focusing in dual core problems.Originally posted by tarball:Niska and Mikoyan,
You are both right, this serious error isn't getting the top-billing it deserves. If time is money, we're being somewhat robbed. It is of no consequence to me if other titles from other companies have also been problematic - I have bought THIS title from THIS company and, as it stands, the product is nearly useless.
Of course, it is early days, but I vividly remember waiting 2 months before T-72 was usable due to a fairly similar set of circumstances. Perhaps it is just too difficult putting out a super-complex product when your team is so small.
I think what we all want is a clear acknowledgement of the problem (it should show up on the known issues post) and, in my case, a warning at the point of sale concerning the uselessness of the title if you are on Vista and AMD.
But it seems rune is already working this left click ATI problem, because he is asking people with old ati cards to try some optimized drivers from XP that may work on Vista, but are not compatible with most recent cards.
It is weekend and they will need time to solve this, has soon as they notice this problem they will work on it.
In fact i believe they already are.
I think rune and others are working on it as we speak.

SteveOriginally posted by Battlefront.com:If you have an AMD dual processor, make sure to disable AMD Dual Core Optimizer. If you have an Intel dual processor make sure to use the Microsoft Power Management power fix. Click on the link at the bottom of my post for the direct link.
Let us know how it goes!

Core2
updated ATI drivers
WINDOWS VISTA ( no microsoft patch for this )
Left click=Crash to desktop
The problem is Vista and ATI drivers.
Many people is posting repeatedly about this.
Vista doesn´t have patches available.
Thanks.
Steve, the game was released in less than 48 hours, we dont expect miracles.

I agree, i am still stucked with that vista left click crash glitch. But i love watch the battles in spectator mode. ToW had problems with dual core, they are mostly sorted out, but many people had quit by then.Originally posted by Joe Shaw:One big difference was that BTS (at that time) had a demo that had been out for literally months and had been played to death by hundreds of people so many of the technical glitches were worked out.
I don't recall but I don't believe that there had a been a recent OS change such as we've just seen with Vista. And, of course, graphics cards weren't as sophisticated as they are now.
Finally, the whole CM concept was such a WOW that many of the quibbles were overshadowed. Now the community has come to expect CMBO/BB/AK performance from a totally new engine, and one that shows tremendous promise.
That being said, there were complaints and suggestions and quibbles from day one about why did you do this when you should have done that and so forth. And they never stopped, just search for "Borg Spotting" or "Running HMGs" and you'll get an eyeful.
My bottom line is this, I trust BFC. I trust them to listen to the community and to take action to resolve issues as soon as possible. In my case I have no issues, it runs fine on my machine, but I can certainly sympathize with those who are having issues. After all ... I bought Silent Hunter IV
Joe
Eventualy a workaround and a patch will come out. Just have to be patient.
Have i said already the game is beautyfull to look at, too bad i am not allowed to touch the goodies.

Yes 386 GB are a lot of data.
The 386 Mb of the CM:SF download however are very easy to manage with a download accelerator.

Tryed, doesn´t work with Vista, left click crash to desktop continues. And it was hard to slide trough the USB port.Originally posted by Angryson:I have a solution for most of the common Shock Force issues posted on this board, CM:SF Support Solutions

Tryed already, thanks BOEEOB !Originally posted by BOEEOB:Your problem sounds a bit different to mine, but i solved my hang up problems by disabeling one CPU in the task manager, so that CMSF runs only on one CPU.
Doesn´t work.
Lots of people with core2, Vista and ATI are reporting left click crashes to desktop, but some also with XP and or, NVIDIA cards.
It seems more like a glitch, because i can run every round from start to finish at maximum settings with excelent framerate, but as soon as i click on a unit, spinning circle of death, desktop, CM:SF stopped responding.

The game is beautifull.
That´s a shame i can only apreciate it in all is glory in "spectator mode" a la counter strike.
As soon i click something i am kicked out.
Looks like some of this clubs were you pay to look at but you can´t touch.
Is someone looking at this left click CTD issue right ?
I see lots of treads of people helping guys with FPS poor performance, but not much feedback on this issue.
Only people reporting the problem.

Thank you Steiner, well thinked.Originally posted by Steiner14:Another thing you could try: is it possible to switch through units with a key (in CMx1 it was TAB). Try this without using the mouse. Problem the same?
Well it kind of works, this way i can select a unit but when i click the destination (left click) it crashes to desktop (as usual).
So i am still stucked in "spectator mode".
I can look but icant touch the goodies !
-
Same for me, crash every time i left click a unit.
Core 2
ATI drivers
Windows vista

Welcome to the club.
We are many reporting this, always a core 2 runing Vista with ATI drivers.
I can run the game smothly in "spectator mode", but as soon i left click a unit, voilá, instant crash.
Others with XP and nvidia cards report the same.
No solution found yet.
Can I run the Game with out CD?

Oh you don´t know eheh !
No need to workaround, it works without cd in drive by default.
You only need to activate your licence after install.
