Panthers & MkIVs should be approx 50/50. Take for example the 12th SS Panzer Regt who I guess will be a prominant opponent. 1st Battalion contained 5 companies of Panthers (79 tanks) whilst 2 btn had 6 companies of MkIVs (96 tanks).
I've been doing some research for my own Normandy missions. Another thing that needs doing IMO is the maps need to be edited & lots more trees put in to recreate the bocage country.

FinnN, I think Wolfseven was referring to the code connection between IL2 & ToW.
There are probably a load of aircraft models & other 3d objects that could be ported over to ToW. I for one would settle for the Tempest as a bastardised Typhoon if it had the rocket & 20mm loadout.
-
Anyone else smell BS round here? Surely it can't be true, not even in America!
-
Sounds as if it's not MP that's broken, it's MP matchups that are! Surely BFC can do something to remedy this. IMO the future of ToW is in MP.

Not quite right Joseph. RAID 5 incurs a write penalty to write the parity info to an alt disk & is by far the slowest of the resilent RAID levels. RAID 0 is the fastest at writing but is not resilient & RAID 1 is the fastest on read because it can take the block of data from whichever disk device responds quickest. If you really want max performance together with resilience then you should use striped & mirrored RAID 0+1 or RAID 10 as some manufacturers call it.
-
Agreed RAID 0 won't help much as this is read intensive activity, RAID 1 mirroring would produce better results but is way more expensive.
-
The striping will most certainly help loading times in so much as the data can be read from disk faster from striped disks than RAID-Nothing disk. I would think a 32k stripe size a little small as well & would probably go for 128k depending on the drive type & speed. You may well find that memory then becomes the bottleneck.

TOP WORK! GJ Oudy!

Yes a very interesting article, much to look forward to! I agree 100% we should have more info here on the english sites.
-
Yeah, I don't think he's actually played the game for more than 5 minutes. I've had a few run ins with him @ simhq LOL
-
You've upset Bruce now Dude, the worst thing you can do is accuse a welshman of being english boyo!

Very interesting, good post!

Agree 100% MP playability is paramount, if its done right this will be a killer game! It's where the furure of this game is if it's to have a future at all on HDs, be sure!!
BF/Devs please take note & give us the killer game in return for our cash! We need min 4v4 to 6v6 games that are stable & maybe a few different game type as mentioned above.

But that's just a scripting omission, sounds like it needs a if units < 5 then win type statement

Tigers are only bad boys at long range
My guys took out 2 Tiger Is & 3 KTs last night. One of the KTs was killed using AT grenades looted from their comrades.
Here's a screenie I took, I lost 3 TDs in the process though

Good ideas Jippo, I'd certainly like to see something of this sort implemented in a future upgrade/patch. It will make MP games alot more enjoyable if you don't have to worry about minutae so much.
I'd also like the hold position command to apply by default until expressly switched off, perhaps this could be another option?
-
Hidebodies does look like what it says, I can't think of any problems for SP although I suppose it could cause extra lag in MP games?
-
Did the same for me but I noticed theres a semi colon at the end of the URL, delete it & the link works ok.

bump! +1
-
Yes they should & STG44s ..... something for a patch /update
-
Oh yes they were! Granted whole minefields weren't laid but I've read numerous accounts of strings of mines being hastily laid by infantry to ambush tanks, mainly using strings of mines.Mines were NEVER laid during a battleFor example on 22nd Sept 1944 A Company of the Dorset & Cornwall Light Infantry destroyed no less than 5 Tigers using No75 AT mines & PIATs in a hastily setup ambush at the De Hoop cross roads near Dreil in Holland. Pvte Brown of the DCLI lost an eye but gained the Military Medal for personally destroying 2 Tigers.
-
How about engineer units able to lay/detect mines & use flamethrowers on assaults.
-
In addition to what's already been suggestedNew aircraft units would be good too! Especially for late war missions. Hurricanes & Spit Vs just aren't convincing for any Normandy scenarios (ok Spit Vs were still around but 2nd line a/c only.). Also Blenheims in US service?? We need these additional aircraft: -
Allied
Hawker Typhoon (60lb Rockets)
Spitfire IXc (250lb bombs)
B26 Marauder
IL10
Axis
FW190-F8
Me 262
