  1. I don't really know the history of it, I mean... it looks just like the elefant and I know looks are not the whole machine. But how do you get from naming it the Elefant to...........Ferdinand or vis a vis?

    "Ok Guys we are going to name this one after a big fat mammal and this variant ah well, what the heck name it after a Leader....."

    (Assuming they are not naming it after Archduke Ferdinand. Which would be um.....regrettable?)

  2. I agree. I have no problem sharing my PW with folks, but on another tact.... in fact I encourage it. Especially when using unique units that other's have had little success or frustration with like AVRE, just to see how I used it ect. I guess I like good opponents. If I can learn something from them and I can supply a running movie of a unit in action I see plenty of benefits.

    I get tired of seeing people buy the same tiger/sherman loadout because they are afraid to take a chance with some of the more uncommonly mentioned units in forums.

    My favorite unit is still got to be the valentine. Such great power for soooo little.

    I also gotta like those dang churchills when they are avaliable.

    Mcmmm has alot of quirks like that

    especially if u delete a mod before u uninstall it with Mcmmm, I never see any problems with my mods even with the errors. Sometime I will be installing a sky mod or something like that and it will say that it is already modded by a brummbar. I just ignore it.

    It isn't appearing in game at all?

    Sometime when mcmmm gets too quirky I just uninstall everything (mods that is) and reinstall Mcmmm erase the temp and all that but only if you kept your mods n a separate folder, I am really sleepy right now so.... I will get back when I am not falling over

  4. make sure you did not down load a CMMOS mod.

    You can tell a cmmos mod by the fact that it the individual files have word in each BMP number, paling mods are just numbers not letters mixed in unless someone wanted to make and optional BMP like a turret that is blank with no Nationality markings would be .1234_alt or .1234_Blank. You use those by remove the the word off of the BMP file name so it is only a number with no letters in it.

    Make sure you are not using an incompatible MOD, some (most mods for the original cm will not work with the later games. Some, not all CMAK mod will not work with CMBB or vis a vis, due to the desert units being in the game for CMAK and other "unique" numbered desert mods and a few others for that matter.

    Make sure that the files are extracted properly. McMMM will not detect files that are compressed inside another zip. Meaning a zip inside a zip. I don't know, but I don't think McMMM likes .rar files either.

    Since your problem mod is Ed's shacks and I have used them before, I don't know what the cause is, but it isn't a game compatibility issue unless you are using them in CMBO. Then maybe the building are numbered differently in CMBO from the other 2 games. I have not modded CMBO so I wouldn't know.

    WE used it as a QB with a lot of points to buy with obviously.

    My friend wanted me to prove that the allies could beat the Axis in CMAK when they used tigers.

    He said he believed the game was unbalanced (CMAK) and wouldn't stop playing axis until someone beat him. So I figured he had not been playing against people who knew the value of the Churchill, probably people buying a bunch of Fireflys.

    Next battle I think I will load out with scads of Valentine IX and X's and show him that not only the big stuff can destroy an axis iron wall. The small swarming tank with a 6 pound gun and make life even more hellish.

    He said he wanted to play the same map over again, he wants to do same loadout, I don't think he understands. It wasn't bad luck. It was just that ,yes, the allies have heavy tanks that can take a beating and deal it out too, they just move

    which in some cases forces you to take your time by default. Hard to get killed rushing into battle when you are crawling. Sorta saves your butt.

  6. I think the problem is (and I say again THINK) that these were all modded before the big crash at cmmods. These mods are out there on people's machines they just don't to or don't have the time to upload them at cmmods.

    I have been modding my games units by unit and sometimes I am especially amazed when I come across a unit with NO MOD AT ALL.

    With respect to he argument that some units are not ever seen in game, I have seen a lot of archers in game. Because I buy in QB's, makes it heck of a lot easier to move a 17 pounder around even if it is assbackwards, now about then showingup in scenarios or operations...... I have no idea.

    Just the second I was modding the German artillery for CMBB. Tons of holes. You would expect at least every unit would have a winter mod, nope.

    Take for instance the archer, it is listed n wicky's mod pack, but it isn't in there. No winter mod for the archer, I DLed it for a second time to make sure I didn't misplace it. Nope not in the pack, might be now. But I have not checked.

    And yes the churchills, as per a request a couple of months ago need an overhaul. They are my favorite Allied tanks because they actually kill big cats and piss off your opponent who is an Axis hog. They come charging out right into what they think are crappy tanks because they don't do the research and find themselves down 4-5 tanks before the other scramble away with holes all in em.

    I love the valentines too, but I think Mikey D did my favorite the IX and X

    But since the crash.... and I didn't play CM until after the crash so I don't know for sure there are lot's of un-modded units. Or a sorry selection in some cases.

    I am pretty sure that the games had full mods because you can tell when a designer has done every arty piece but one... you know it is a "lost" mod. No reason for them to skip it when they have done summer/winter/gelb/grau for all the other guns.

    When I come across mods on the CMMOS disk that came with the special edition I re-number it and upload it, I just wish some of the mods out there on player's hard drives could get uploaded if people had the time.

  7. I have finally decided to use the target wide command for some spotters. All the manuals online and off say hit "I". Well either that isn't working or I am not noticing the state change.

    What denote that you have the spotter set to target wide?

    Does it matter the level of the spotters veterancy?

    Maybe all is good, but i cannot tell, they have yet to fire, just want to make sure they do fire wide.

    I have searched these forum for "Wide" "fire wide" and "Artillery wide"

    I get discussions about it, but not threads mentioning there being a problem about they "I" key or how to tell the command is enacted

    then I guess while on the topic of tiles and structural damage.

    Building id considered one tile? I Have never had issue with destroying a damaged building not matter which part I hit but,

    On the large CMBB red factory type buildings.... do they collapse in sections? I have yet to really ge to into a map where the fighting is bad enough to warrant destruction of 30 some odd hexes of factory tile, but I have just started Ponyari station H2H against Lyzaplys a fellow BoB member/recruit. It appears that there is going to be some remodeling going one in and around the track which has these huge red factory building, they do collapse in sections right? I mean they get slowly eaten away?

    I have 8 Ferdinand's and scads of hvy arty spotters with sturmtigers OTW in a few. Can I expect these to fall in sections or are they so massive that they stand up as a whole?

    I am pretty sure I will see sectional collapse, barring we even get to play as my opponent is having serious lag issues while trying to even exit the map. He said a 5 minute wait....sheesh.

    I guess some tips on how he can help that would be appreciated as well.

    My PC lags only when panning just a tad, but I am sure as soon as more units show and fires get burning I am going to see some performance issues. I know it is off topic but Is there something he can do? I know about the hot keys to remove trees and stuff, but would change to lower resolution help at all or is the graphical hit just too large?

    So.... a two part question wandering all over the place at 5am. wonderful

    I know it is an easy lookup, but just for reference on this thread.

    Demo satchels and charges have blast of???...

    I read someone said 2 of them does it. Seems to sound right with reality, of course that is assuming you placed the charges. I know I had my AVRE hit a stone bridge several times and the blast of that mother is pretty huge and the bridge stayed up. Of course it was a tall bridge for a train tressle and another thread said those don't go down...
