  2. As you can see with my system specs; I had a hard time, the game was just very jerky when I ran the battle, in the training it didnt have a problem. Now I'm just waiting for the full version and I will be building a new High end System.

    G -10

    S - 7

    U - 15

    P - 10

    O - 20

    62/100

    All marks out of 20

Looks a little dated now, sounds could be improved. Seems like a great game under the hood and by far the best in a long time.

  3. Im loving the game in fact I even find it even more fun especialy when I can pick the ammo and fire the grenades also.

    Is there smoke for cover?

I find the mouse a little hard to get used too.

The load time though 1:15 seconds alittle to long to load. Think that needs tweeking.

Sound, they sound a little muffeled.

  4. 41 been playing since high school computer class when they taught you DOS and that programming for the artillery game, I see someone made a variant of one called pocket tanks.

    Tank Platoon

    M1a1 Tank platoon II

    Mech Commander

Mech Warrior, I, II, III, IV

    Blitzkrieg, I, II

    SSHWWII

    COH

    Close Combat Series

    CMBB

    COD I, II

    OFP I, II

Currently immersed in is IL2 FB 1946

Anything that makes me think hard.

I believe women don’t understand the art of gaming they think we just veg out on this stuff. I tell my wife all the time, just like when you veg out on your harlequin romance books?

“She states at least I’m using my brain”

Those comment I just stare at her and replied you got to be kidding me?

I’m not using my brain I’m just playing a game comment from her.

    She’s killing me guys.

Women here the word game and think mindless, useless not brain involving.

    Don’t figure?!

Is that a 2nd entrance hole on the front of the tank?

Quick question: would the 'miss' shells really blacken the terrain around the tank like in the pics? I mean, I understand they would kick up a certain amount of dirt when they hit the ground, but would they explode on impact with dirt like that? I guess HE rounds would, but what about AP? Pretty sure Sabot rounds don't explode at all.

no sabot round have explosives on them depends what type.
  9. As I can see we have some English professors in here and I better elaborate before they call the EPA on me?!

Can the infantry dig their own trenches or is it only added in the map?

Can the infants build trenches? I'm assuming no due to the fact they can’t enter buildings?

While the 'vanilla' game is fun but highly unrealistic, it provides amazing opportunities for modding (I am actually addicted to it now...). There is an official map/mission editor (very advanced), and all property files for individual weapons and items are editable. You can add realistic muzzle velocities, ranges and rates of fire, modify weapon accuracy, magazine capacities, ammo types, etc. The engine handles that very well, although some of the default missions become unplayable with realistic engagement ranges.

Even with these modifications, it's not as realistic as ToW is shaping to be. However, it does have a few very strong points. Apart from excellent graphics, it has a very decent physics engine (all buildings are destructible, terrain deformation is supported, high-velocity AP rounds go through thinner walls, etc). Plus, it is leaps and bounds ahead of anything I have seen in terms of the use of cover. Soldiers can hide or kneel behind any type of cover: every wall (also inside buildings), rock, vehicle, wreck (either predefined or placed 'dynamically' when a vehicle is KO'd), even fallen trees and larger pieces of rubble from buidings destroyed during gameplay.

And I have had a very similar impression of CoH, despite all the hype it brings nothing new to the genre.

I guess you havent played heros of world war II.Same game engine same people.1st generation.
