This seems to have been what's happened. There's a SyriaCupressus vs BritsCargol 024 file in my incoming email folder. Not sure how PBEM has sent the wrong file but it has.

A small update on this issue. @Dawntaker will open a ticket with Slitherine. What is really strange is that the file which he received  ''SyriaCupressus vs BritsCargol 024'' is requesting the Syrian password, while in the pbem for this specific game  the odd file numbers request the Syrian password while the even the British.

    @BFCElvis FYI.

Andrew got a weird one like that a little while ago. He recieved a battle that he recieved was not a batle he was playing.

It looks like you're playing @cargol. Cargol, have you recieved any of the turn files for Round 2?

Yeah, I was about to post also. I got the first file all right (me as Syrian uncon). The second one I received it but after a couple of days when I tried to access it was not there anymore (in progress in PBEM++)

I do  have a PBEM ongoing  with the files named as @Dawntaker indicated.

I had this issue before. Might be that the software which I am using for assistance (Who's turn is it) is messing with the files?

I also got some emails with warnings, sometimes I look at the turn but it's too late to play it (or something else comes up) and I quite the game.
I don't see how loading up a file and looking at the turn more than once can be considered cheating. In the end I just made sure to not close the game after loading a file / only load if I was sure I can play. But indeed no impact on our games.

Definitely in Slitherine's forums it is stated so. Why, I do not know.

I was mistaken when I sent that message.

I am starting to think you are just a troll.

you use a helper program and it interfered with the files.  It took a while to figure out. Hence my misunderstanding.

rather than accepting the obvious answer, you’ve chosen to sh*t talk me.

and you are a coward on the battlefield.  So there is that as well.

    Have a nice day.

I return to you all the characterizations. Frankly, you were the one talking about cheating and being disqualified from Slitherine, so if you want to blame someone just look in the mirror.

    End of story.

That isn't their fault. That is ours.

During testing we tested very tiny battles to get through them in a reasonable amount of time. The current tournament that we're playing will run for over 3 months by the time it's finished. That's a very long time to test, especially if there is an issue that gets fixed and the testing has to start again.

The running score that we see for each Round has never been based on the final in game CM score. It was only intended to give player a feel for who was doing better. Then, at the end of the battle, the final in game Combat Mission score replaces the running score. It became apparent early in the first Round of this tournament that the running score was going to be MUCH higher than the end game Combat Mission score. That would take away the incentive for the player to finish. If the running score shows you with 13,000 points but after you complete the battle that is replaced by an in game score of 550 (for example), you would have a higher tournament score by simply not completing the battle. Which is why, for this tournament we are asking people to not complete their battles.

Combat Mission was never designed to track in game scoring. No score can be tabulated until a battle is complete. The amount of coding to do that would be astronomical. So, we needed a workaround for the problem. Here's what we've done. Each turn of a tournament battle will push out 3 points for the player that causes the highest casualties and 1 point for the other player (0 points if no casualties are caused by either player). When a battle is completed the final score will be the in game Combat Mission score. We need to make sure the running number is low enough so that there is no way the in game score will be lower than the running score, once the battle is finished. That can be done by the scenario designer. This will give the players the incentive to complete the battles and get their higher scores.

This scoring change has been done for a while and is in the most recent patches for Black Sea and Shock Force 2 (it's actually in Battle for Normandy already too). It will be added to Cold War once the current tournament is finished.

    Make sense?

    Yes, it does.

I think we know the answer now as I got one of your PBEM files.

again, I don’t believe you did this on purpose or cheated. I’m not accusing you of anything unethical.

OTOH, you have shaded me here and I don’t appreciate it.

Dude, how could I have cheated when you were awarded 9000 points for a battle that you did not play while I was awarded 1700 for both of the battles?

Are you out of your mind?

For the last time, I am quoting your private message in which you claimed that you were disqualified by Slitherine.

Now, how you reached this conclusion you know better:

    You said

''I sent an email to slitherine Uk support.I was in a hotel this week that had a wifi connection that was always booting me off and requiring me to log in again via web browser. I attempted multiple times to open this turn and multiple downloads is considered ‘cheating’.   I see some posts on the slithering forum about this.

So, I do believe that side of the mirror has been closed for ‘cheating’ and you will be awarded all my points.

I was not cheating and I just wanted to play some combat mission. I could care less about the score or trying to win this tournament.  ''

You don’t understand well. I never successfully opened or saw this turn as it was passworded with your PBEM opponents password.

Dude, take it easy or you would hurt yourself. I am merely quoting what you ve already told me in a private message.

Now, regarding the Helper software, even if I wanted it, I could not use it as you are ''assigning'' an existing game to the helper by linking to the dropbox file. In the PBEM++ there is no dropbox folder to assign a game to the helper software. If Helper software is interfering with the PBEM++ by just being ''active'' , I do not know.

Weird. You shouldn't be able to do that, Unless the internet connection is so wonky that the turn never processes. I can't tell what the original poster is playing either.

Exactly, this is why this ''unstable'' internet excuse is somehow strange.

Also is strange why ALBY in his ticket did not mention anything about multiple loading attempts.

The fact is that he received a warning of some sort and most probably kept doing the same until the game was blocked somehow.

Siltherine might shed some light as definitely if a warning was sent they have it in their logs and they also know if this might interfere with the continuation of the game.

Anyway, thanks for your time and I appreciate the acknowledgment of the ''borked'' Siltherine's tourney scoring.

I'm not sure what the message is saying. Who "closed" a battle for cheating? Slitherine? I am aware of his ticket to Slitherine support because they also contacted me to see if I had any idea how he would have gotten a wrong game file. You shouldn't be able to open turns multiple times. Once you've played your turn it should disappear from the list.

If I understand well, he opened the file multiple times without playing it but he quit every time because of ''unstable'' internet. Indeed (I just checked) , in Siltherine forums it is stated that this is monitored by Siltherine and it is considered as a type of cheating. Moreover, a warning is sent by Siltherine when this behavior is observed.

I hope you are equally upset about the 14005 points you received in the same game ?!

in the game we could play, I believe we finished on turn 49 and your pace slowed to one turn every two days as my score went up.  So, thanks for that.

If you check the scorings you will see that I received 1705 points for round two while you 9611 for a game that not only you did not play but according to your words you contributed to spoiling it.

So basically, I was punished because you and I quote from your private message that you ve sent me :

''I sent an email to slitherine Uk support.

I was in a hotel this week that had a wifi connection that was always booting me off and requiring me to log in again via web browser. I attempted multiple times to open this turn and multiple downloads is considered ‘cheating’.   I see some posts on the slithering forum about this.

Off course, that happened only in your game as the Americans as we progressed normally to the other.

@BFCElvis Might this is the reason for the odd things occurring?

Lol I think there was some miscommunication. Elvis asked whether those that had problems with the tournament used CMH, one said he uses Whose Turn is It. Since I knew IanL developed that I thought to tag him.

It's certainly NOT recommended to assign CMH / WTII to any PBEM++ file.

I use CMCW Steam for PBEM++ and a BFC install for CMH. Accidentally but seems like a good setup to keep around.

I did once have issues with CMH as well but managed to fix it somehow. I forgot how though, but I googled and this came up:
    https://www.thefewgoodmen.com/thefgmforum/threads/cm-helper-problem.31584/

Maybe that's of use to fix CMH for you.

Dude, I never said that I use Whos turn is it with PBEM++,  I think somewhere along the way you mixed it up.

There is no word from the slitherine ticket system and no help from battlefront on this issue.

i doesn't look like there will be a fix.

Maybe they are working on it. I believe that issues like that are a show-stopper for the feature in subject (online tourney) so I can not imagine that they will just let it go.

  13. 9 minutes ago, ALBY said:

If I try to play the turn, it leaves a file ‘player b vs cargol 053’ in my inbox.

This is strange as indeed I have an ongoing game with a chap called ''player b'' but the last turn we ve played is the'' player b vs cargol 052'' which is the file I ve sent him and never received the 053 turn. Was this the case also for your game against Kilroy? Were you waiting for number 005 (which was the one that appeared in my save menu)?

  14. 46 minutes ago, ALBY said:

The point differential is probably because I can’t deploy my Soviets and the game is frozen at turn 4.   It looks like they awarded cargol points for all my units.

again, the turn requires a password and I did not set one per instructions.

Is there an official reporting system for these things ?

I guess I will just play the US side of this…

US side receives points for non-exited units only when the game is finished, so this is not the case.

Moreover, the exit points theory does not explain how you got the 6400 points as the Russian side.

I will wait for the BFC guys to see if they can sort it out.

  15. 2 hours ago, rocketman said:

You probably get points for non exited Soviet units, this is for the US side right? But I'm just guessing...

If I am not mistaken exit points(for either side) are awarded only if the battles are finished, so unless for some weird reason the tourney system considers the games are over it shouldn't be the case. And if so, points awarded should be equal for both players which is not the case. I got 14005 and my opponent got 5470.

Not an expert on PBEM++. but I heard my friend talked about a very similar issue in a different game. Flashpoint Campaign Southern Storm. It looks like PBEM++ will leave a seed file on our save folder to help reading the game later. Sometime this seed might be corrupted. So he remove all the save file into a different folder. Unload the turn from PBEM++ again, then everything goes back to normal.

    Hope that helps

The save folder includes just an ''ordinary'' file from an ongoing normal PBEM game.

I somehow have 6520 points in round 2 on the slitherine scorebord ?  I’ve played 1 minute of one match and have not fired my weapons.

    Something is not right here.

Same thing here, I got 14000 points in one game but as I did not see the turn reply I do not know how that happened.
