  1. I used that file but it does not change a bit... so I'm back to changing tile ownership, I'll try to do it once more, maybe I missed some tile after all

Ok, I forgot about that, so I guess now I can do e.g. :

    #CHINA = France

and it will look like France in-game, while still being China in the editor? I think I will try to sort out tile ownership nevertheless, as I will use this map for several over scenarios, it should be done properly. :) So I guess there's no to find a tile owned by a given country? e.g. highlighting it somehow? It may be a silly question but these are my first steps with this editor.

  2. When you import a scenario, you should also copy and update the localization.txt file for the scenario. Global has more country slots than PDE, but you can still update the country list to what was used in the imported scenario. This is way easier than trying to reset tile ownerships...

  3. I just bought Global Conflict (so that's 4th SC2 I have, just one to go :)) and although I really love the new features (just a pity that non-random research is not among them) I find the map of Europe a bit small.

So I wanted to recreate the Fall Weiss scenario in the editor (with no experience of it so far). How can I load the map used in that WaW scenario in the editor? If I try to load it I just get an error. I know that there were a lot of changes to the script system, and that it's not compatible, but I just need the map and the whole scenario as such... if anyone could point me in the right direction I'd be grateful.

  4. I would think that it is intentional because unless all of the Allies had been defeated it would have been quite hard for Axis naval units to sail around South Africa without a good chance of their being intercepted and sunk. But as stated above, this can easily be changed in the editor if you feel that it would be more appropriate to allow the Axis to do so.

Thank you for the answer. Indeed the considerations are right here, but it would be nice if:

    - subs could use it anyway,

    - normal navy could use it when the western allies fall.

I do not know if it's possible to script it like that...

  5. I'm looking into it for the future and just offhand I have noticed that some netbooks support a scaling feature for 1024x768 resolution, does the one you are looking to purchase support this feature?

    Hubert

I didn't know that. I will definitely look for a model with that function. That said it's a pretty big part of the market, SC2 will work great on it in terms of performance, so it might be a good idea to consider a native resolution support. :)

  6. Hi, I still haven't bought GC but I'm considering it seriously. Reading about the game I see that it seems to have only Global scenarios. All the previous games I own from the series had some smaller ones, great for situations when one wanted a quick game. Is there really nothing of the sort in GC?

  7. When you say "I've been running as an admin" do mean that you have been right-clicking and selecting "Run as administrator" from the popup menu or that your account is 'Computer administrator' ? If it is the latter, then that is NOT enough when it comes to UAC (User Account Control).

One other thing you may want to try is to disable UAC and see what sort of effect that may have. Typically 'Run as admin' should get around some of the UAC restrictions, but on occasion some users have to disable UAC.

Disabling UAC (Method #4 with the Control Panel will be the easiest method).

Actually I have UAC disabled. Could not stand double confirmation when deleting from USB drive. This is not the rights problem, it appears with window mode, disappears with fullscreen

  8. Have you launched the game by right-clicking and selecting "Run as administrator" from the popup menu ? This gives you 'administrator rights' which often allows for writes to the actual '\Program Files' directory, which MIGHT be the cause of failure here. Typically these writes are re-directed to the 'VirtualStore' directory and should be 'invisible' to the programs and users, but on occasion this doesn't seem to work.

If 'Run as administrator' works, then you can modify the shortcut so that you do not have to right click on it. To do this, right-click on the launching shortcut and select 'Properties' at the bottom of the popup menu. Go to the 'Compatibility' tab and at the bottom of this tab will be a section labeled 'Privilege Level'. Checkmark the box next to the text that says "Run this program as an administrator". Click 'Apply' and 'OK'. You'll need to do this for every shortcut that launches the game.

I've been running as an admin, and no, it does not change the situation.

  9. Can you try running the game in an alternate windowed mode, i.e. if you are running in full screen try playing in windowed mode or vice versa.

These settings can be accessed in the SETTINGS dialog and might do the trick as there was another report of a similar issue.

In the meantime I'll see what I can do as this appears to be Win7 specific which makes it very difficult to track down.

Thanks for the prompt reply, I've checked it and indeed the game freezes in window mode (which unfortunately I prefer) and works just fine in fullscreen mode.

  10. Hi Borsook,

Unfortunately we never got around to making any changes to the research system, something I am still considering though when the timing is better, but to answer your other questions it is still an Axis vs Allied game so only 2 for multiplayer and no official 1936 campaign for the initial release.

    Hubert

Thanks for your answer, I am glad to hear you may take it into consideration and do something about the research later one...

As for the number of players - will we be able at least to delegate running a given country to the AI? that would be a great feature, making the games take up less time.

  11. Feature request While current research system should be the default one it would be great to have an optional non-random research, where each chit bought brings you towards achieving a tech by e.g. 5% per turn until you reach 100. For some players the randomness of the current system undermines strategy (i.e. planning). This feature has been requested a few time since Blitzkrieg came out and since this may be the last version of the game it would be great to have it as an option.

    I also have some questions:

    1. How many players will be able to play in MP?

    2. Will there be a 1936 campaign? After all war in the east did not start in 1939.

  12. I agree, and if anything the earlier the date the more the strength loss should be. The only problem is you would have to design about 5 or 6 scripts in order for this to work. If my knowledge of the strength script is correct, then it is impossible to make a single script which would cover every first year of the Axis offensive.

Well, it can be done as a few scripts, and 6 is probably an overkill, 3 at most should be enough... Anyway it would be nice to see this in a patch.
