  1. Artillery: I disagree. They are not too strong. On the offensive they have the disadvantage that they cannot move and shoot and vice versa. On the defensive they are only a little more useful. The damage they cause is generally poor and can be ignored. They have, however, the remarkable ability to shoot at ships. AA units: only useful for the Germans on the Western Front. AT units: only good for garrison duty. Except when you're playing the Russians and facing a tank-heavy German assault.
  2. Depends on what you mean by "winning". It's possible to survive, which should count as a win. But do yourself a favour. Go to the editor and change just one thing: let the Axis start first. This makes for a completely different game. It allows you to withdraw your armies in Russia to a defensive line from Konigsberg to the Rumanian mountains. Defend in the west (give up Brest however). Go in the offensive in Italy. Once the Russian onslaught has been blunted, counterattack. Because of the time limit you won't get a major victory, however. If you want to go for that, use the editor to change the starting year to 1941 or something. That's not really cheating, I think. "Overlord" is actually my favourite campaign. It allows for a challenging game while, for once, using the Axis in a defensive role.
  3. I don't know. After purchasing you still have to wait several turns before it arrives. And then to get it to North Africa. This all assuming you haven't spent any MPP's to reinforce the air units or the (extremely important) sub. A HQ and/or tank at start would be nice. As it is, Italy is only useful fore its fleet and for building garrison troops for France and later Russia. I have tried to use Italians for invasions or offensive warfare, but that is more like roleplaying than being efficient and calculating, because the cost for bying HQ's, tanks (now more important than ever) and researching land doctrines are too high for poor little Italy. Of course, there's nothing wrong with a little roleplaying.
  4. Right-click on a general that hasn't moved yet. You'll see the option to "sack/replace".
  5. Yes, the Spanish Civil War scenario is very good. Actually, it's the best thing that came with the WaW expansion. Very well researched and implemented. And both sides are fun to play. Great work, Bill.
  6. Very good mod! Only one thing: playing with Germany against the AI, the western front collapsed too soon. After that, it was easy, with the UK falling before the end of 1915.
