Steve, you said:"We expect to lose some of you guys".

You can bet your head on it, that you have lost "some" customers.

But i dispute that you gain new ones for the next Battlefront titles.

Really Achim? You are reading the post of one right now. Never liked any BFC product until this one came along. When I heard BFC was developing a wego shmego-RTS or RTT, or whatever they call it now, I quickly gained interest.

The one thing that turned me off about the first engine was the fact, #1 it was wego shmego turn based and #2, all squads were represented by 3 man units. Sorry not my cup of tea. But that's just me and I respect the opinion of any and all who enjoy that style of play.

As far as losing customers go, I wrote in an earlier thread that nobody likes change, but for what it's worth, I think BFC has made a brilliant move to RTT and hope more future titles will be along these lines with an option for wego. smile.gif

This is one thing I did notice quite early. I thought it was only my PC that was doing this. ;)

It is a shame damn it. I gave up months ago and now use TOW as a coaster for my Granville Island honey lager. Great tasting beer btw. I had high expectations for this one but alas I have found a new game that has a winning track record by BFC and so far so good. Hopefully there will be a patch or 2 for TOW down the road and fans that were somewhat disappointed may one day return. ;)

There is a danger to knowing too much about what goes on under the hood too, at least from a suspension of disbelief perspective.

I actually enjoy reading your posts Michael but you are correct in that without the game in hand I did not have too much interest at the time in your tactics thread. Give me a month or so after release and that will probably change. tongue.gif
  6. Sorry I bumped this one up, but great vid. I was hoping that dog would run during the first part of the firefight but am upset it did not.

I was not aware that these troops were facing such dangerous conditions clearing houses and rooms in Iraq and Afghanistan. Bit of an eye opener for me personally.

Most games are in a "finished" state about a month before release, to give time to press CDs, manufacture manuals, and distribute them to stores to be available on the release date. Paradox has always given me a final review copy of their games 3-4 weeks before release, and most other publishers operate the same way.

That being said, the original question was whether or not the game will be in stores on the 27th of July. By stores I assume he means retail outlets such as EB and Best Buy ect. Sorry for the sarcasim earlier, but even if the hard copy were to be magically released on the 27th, I am under the assumption BFC does not ship any of their products to retail stores at all.
  8. Yes, BF will work on the code till the 26th of July, by the evening it will have gone gold. Come morning they will have reproduced more then enough copies of SF with a pretty printed manual and nice little box for it to fit into. Early morning of the 27th SF will be shipped throughout North America and the UK. Come mid afternoon of the 27th, by the grace of god you should have your copy. ;)

  9. Unfortunately my reinforcements do not all make it behind the slope in time. Have tried this tactic 45 times now on Vet mode and it is not working. Am encountering 3-4 tanks at one time coming from above the slope and do not have enough tanks to make a difference. Regarding the AT guns, I manage to move 2 behind the slope but the third one gets picked off every time. Still have not heard a peep from the devs regarding this mission if it is indeed beatable with the above tactic. :(

  10. I agree. It's a bit of a joke. I love a challenge but would also like to use some tactics to win. Maybe patch #4 will fix the LOS issue. For the love of god, when a tank is surrounded by trees why the hell is it getting picked off from 600 meters away and my screen tells me I do not have clear LOS on that same unit. I give up. :(:(:(

  11. Been stuck on this mission for over a month now and am starting to wonder whether this mission was meant to be won by the Russians on highest setting. If the devs, or anyone else for that matter have beat this mission on Vet mode , I would gratiously request a tip on how and what tactic was used. Challenging yet very tough mission. ;)

  12. After reading the review, I finally think someone with credibility nailed the cover/LOS issue. I do think the game has enormous potential and the reviewer was a tad negative. That being said, my biggest problem with the game has always been and will continue to be the LOS/cover issue. This problem should have been properly addressed long before it ever hit the beta stage.
