  1. sorry, that I mentioned what I experienced. Won't do it again. From now on, I'll only participate in the praise-threads.

I can't make another fanboy like c3k break out in tears, because some ppl talk about what could be done better. Save ur tears.  :)

ChrisND said it all. It can be improved.

[...] This solution doesn't work all of the time, but it's definitely better than the old behavior. I want to fine tune it in the future.

  2. I experienced several times strange behavior concerning infantry held AT weapons.

Look at this situation for example:

    - AT team and vehicle crew exit their vehicle

    - they get shot at

    - they take cover

    - AT team fires it's only AT rocket

    - AT team fires their thermo rocket

all in the open, at close range - small arms seem to be the more adequate weapons for this situation

  3. Thanks for the additional info Chris. Is it possible to get a short answer for question 1 and 8? But if you are busy with other things, it's not that important :)

    1. Is there a difference between the spotting capabilities, concerning the different UAV models?

    8. Manual: "[...] capability to interface with and control UAVs such as RQ-7B Shadow or MQ-1C Gray Eagles [...] With this system the UAV and attack helicopter can act as a pair, with the UAV searching for targets for the Apache to attack. Even if the flight crew does not directly control the UAV, they can receive imagery from its camera payload and use its laser designator to mark targets for the Apache's weaponry." (p. 95)

    How does it work ingame?
    Area X, RQ-7B Shadow
    Area observation mission
    tank spotted

Now I want to attack it with my AH-64, using the RQ-7B Shadow laser designator, to keep the helicopter out of harm's way. How can I do it?
  4. Hi,

first of all thanks for the manual. It makes the waiting a little bit easier.
While reading the manual some question came up, I couldn't answer myself.

Maybe some of you can help me out. :)

    1. Is there a difference between the spotting capabilities, concerning the different UAV models?
    The bigger the better?

    Area X, 4 enemy tanks
    Area observation mission

Will I get different results calling in
    - RQ-11B Raven
    - RQ-7B Shadow
    - MQ-1C Gray Eagle

    2. Did I get this right, MQ-1C Gray Eagle can't be damaged / shot down if it is performing an observation mission?

    3. Is the game simulationg endurance of UAVs?
I.e. RQ-11B Raven is stated with approx. 60-90 min (wikipedia)
What happens if the scenario lasts for 120 minutes?

    4. apdu is listed as ammunition type for some AH-64 Apache models. I couldn't find an explaination for this type of ammunition.

    5. Will the after action statistics show shotdown aircrafts (general statisatics / individual statistics)?
Will the after action statistics show individual statistics for artillery.

    Maybe:

    - Helicopter X -> 2 tanks / 3 vehicles

    - Spotter Y -> 2 tanks / 3 vehicles / 7 infantry [who called it in gets the score, what was called in doesn't matter]

    - Spotter Y -> 2 tanks / 3 vehicles (Helicopter X)
                        -> 7 infantry                 (Artillery asset Z)

    6. The manual describes MQ-1C Gray Eagle as capable to perform observation as well as attacks. Is there a possibility to change the type of mission instantly?

A MQ-1C Gray Eagle has an area oberservation task. It spots a tank. I want to attack the tank with this MQ-1C. How does it work? Does it work at all?

    7. Is the US military not equipped with AA vehicles?

    8. 9. What happens to a vehicle if it gets hit and destroyed while crossing water? Will it sink / float?

    10. Is a difference simulated, how versions of an aircraft actually perform on the battlefield? I.e. Su-24M Fencer D vs. Su-24M2 Fencer D
  5. I had the same problem. Thanks to lordhedgwich I could find a quick solution.

    1. Restore the modules .exe

Open avast, go to the quarantine section and restore the 3 *.exe files

    2. exclude the whole CMSF folder from realtime protection, in antivirus settings

(if you just exclude the 3 *.exe files they'll get deleted over and over again)

    Edit:

Game worked perfectly on 06.11.2014, today not anymore 07.11.2014

    Avast Free Antivirus

  6. How much more potent is a Sherman 76 than a Sherman 75 against a King Tiger? :P

If you let the US Army have all of it's latest and greatest toys the Russians can't really compete on a 1 to 1 basis. Fortunately the TO&E is flexible enough to where you can easily field a sort-of post budget cuts version of the US Army without vehicle APS, Javelins and one or two other things I'm not sure I'm allowed to mention.

Of course you are. This community has your back. :D

  7. The plane is said to have been shot down by a SA-11 Buk, a system that requires about a company of highly trained personnel to use. It's amazing what the "separatists" are finding at the local hardware store.

    http://voiceofrussia.com/news/2014_06_29/Donetsk-militia-takes-control-of-Ukrainian-anti-air-installation-1561/

    29.06.2014

The self-defense forces of Donetsk People’s Republic seized control of a Ukrainian anti-air military installation, RIA Novosti reports.

"The forces of Donetsk People’s Republic assumed control of A-1402 military base," the militia's representative said. According to him, it is an anti-aircraft missile forces facility equipped with Buk mobile surface-to-air missile systems.

During the last several days the militia took control of two internal security troops' installations in eastern Ukraine.

  8. A flame on a tank is something totally different than a "fire-system". This flame is a graphic effect, while the second one is kind of a physical simulation.

How does it react to wind, how does it damage vehicles, fire spread, imagine a city in flames and what it means for your hardware. Lots of calculations and things which are affected by it.

It's such a complex feature, I can't imagine to see it ingame. It would need so much ressources to realize.

The starting position (tiles made out of different materials) seems already to be an obstacle.

Maybe fire will get featured one day, but very restricted. Like flame-weapons, burning houses, burning tiles; but no fire spread or physical simulation.

    Just my two cents.
