Not ment a as comment on your AAR but as service to those who follow the original post.

I have tried to limit my reading of threads and post on these scenario to avoid been to the answers before I have learnt them myself, I will have a look at the scenario in the editor and turn the MG around.

  2. Cuirassier.

Good idea to start a thread specific to each scenario. May I suggest you add a high level screen shot to the opening post with a number of location markers on it. That way when people post they can say "my 2nd squad went over by the trees (marker "A") to fire at the MG. It would make it easier to read the AAR.

    After Action Report

I suceeded on my 4th attempt at this.

Attempt 1: When straight for the flag. I figured that one or two squads would be pinned but with Five targets I'm bound to get though. All five squads paniced and routed before I reached the fence. Game over.

Attempts 2 & 3: This time my squads went to the left. Two squads move, two squads on over watch. Although I fared much better I did not bring enough firepower to suppress the MG and any squad which broke cover was routed. Game Over.

Attempt 4: Lessons learnt from above. Only move one squad. Maximum firepower at target. Read Tips & Tricks section of forum.

I went straight for the flag again but this time I set up a firebase in the two buildings. The two remaining squad and the HQ sneaked towards the fence.

As soon as the MG fired it was spotted which allowed the firebase to return fire. Although I suffed some problems I was able to keep the assault team sneaking to the fence. I then had them fire at the MG as well.

With four squads firing the MG ducked, I now advanced one squad into a creater, although he was fired at he was at the best cover around so remained in position. When he recovered and started to fire I advanced my other squad into a crater.

With all this incoming fire and two squads very near by the MG unit surrendered. Turn 18 Game over.

    Cheers JTF

  3. Sorry if these question have been asked/answered in other threads. I did a search and found a number of threads relating to the scenarios but they all contained one or more spoilers so I stopped reading.

Q1) Trial And Error: Am I right to assume there is no “guide” to these scenarios so you learn from mistakes and replays till you find a successful and repeatable tactic?

Q2) Can they be played from the Axis side to learn defensive positioning and tactics?

Q3) Does the AI prove to be a worthy opponent or do I need to play against another human?

Q4) Can tactics learnt be used by other nations in CMBO, CMBB and CMAK or are they restricted to the Red Army due to equipment/organisation?

Q5) If answer “NO” to Q4) has anyone re-done the scenarios to suit other nations?

Q6) If “NO” to Q4) and Q5), any links or suggestions on changing equipment/units in the scenarios editor to make them suitable to other nations. Example Scenario 100, If I used British Sherman to replace the T34 which Tank would replace the Pz IIIL?

Q7) Reference Q6). Can Scenarios and/or maps from CMBB be loaded into the editors of CMBO or CMAK?

Thanks to Jason C for creating these scenarios and to all those who have posted comments in the various threads I found, I shall read them eventually.

 Easy for you to say. :D
  5. A few years ago I would put my money on the guys who had seen live fire.

I have read a number of books in which Squad Leaders would have to go round the troops and remind them to shoot back when they experienced a fire fight for the first time.

Today I'd back the trainned troops. The realism in training now would override much of the initial shock of combat for the first time. Those who did panic or become confused would rally much faster as well.

  6. May I suggest you select a real German division and plot it’s movements and actions thought the war.

Each major/large historical engagement could then be broken down into a series Battalion/Company CMBB games.

Avalon Hill used a similar process for their Patton’s Best game. After the first few battles it soon became clear that the aim was not to win the war but survive it.

  7. Picture this:

A squad sits in the middle of the map facing NORTH. 100m to the north is a small building. The squad has a cover arc order which encloses the building.

    A few turns pass.

I now give the squad a “move to contact” order to a new location 50m to the east.

The squad has moved about 25m, what has happen to the fire arc?

Which of the following is true?

    a) The fire arc still covers to the north from the squad’s current location?

    B) The fire arc still covers the building.

    c) The fire arc cover to the east in the direction of movement.

    d) None of the above

Would it be best to cancel the fire arc before movement?

  8. Thanks I though I could use the editor but wasn't sure how.

Download scenarios, simple answer but I missed it LOL.

Thanks stikkypixie you can email me the scenarios or just the briefings which ever is the easiest for you at jtf@tesco.net

Although I have to admit, playing the Axis with German wording adds to the feel of the game.
