Ow, c'mon. Meijel is just around the corner. It is still the Peel!
Have you looked at Meijel Mayhem and the master map yet? More Holland scenarios would be great. Step up to the plate Sir and give it your best shot, I say!
-
Alas Bram, no CW forces in the initial release. I was looking at an Overloon scenario for the release too. Instead I made Meijel Mayhem. This depicts the fighting around Meijel during a short German Counter offensive in the Peel Marshes. The US 7th ARM division was active on that sector of the front.
You can still do an Overloon scenario if you restrict it to the US 7th ARM Division, before it was relieved by the Brits.
Or, you can take the Meijel Master Map included in CMFB and design additional scenarios for the Meijel battle. That would be great

There aren't a lot of scenario designers in the community at large and even fewer who create on a consistent basis. Scenario designers do the best they can with the tools available, but I think it would be helpful to keep expectations a little bit restrained. Creating a perfectly balanced scenario that is fun to play for everyone and that every player agrees is actually balanced is probably the scenario designing equivalent of hitting a Grand Slam in baseball. We can hit some solo homers and maybe get a few doubles and singles, but expecting a Grand Slam to be created on a regular and predictable basis is unrealistic. Sometimes things work out and sometimes things don't. Designers just put their best foot forward and hope they've created something fun and hopefully challenging for both sides.
Very true! Totally agree.

Capt. James H. Leach and 1st Lt. Daniel M. Belden. Did I goof ?

I only bought RT recently. This is a great scenario with a gorgeous map. I managed a Major Victory despite having a Stuka take out one of my Tigers. Bloody flyboys..grrrrrrr.
Yeah, the flyboys Drink too much Schnaps... Glad you liked the scenario!

No ... all standalone scenarios in the release have to be playable Allies vs AI, Axis vs AI and H2H - it is BF policy and quite rightly so.
Quite Right. But H2H suitability varies from one scenario to another.

Driving your tanks out into the open fields in the Mud is risky. Cracking the defence of Singling is tough but doable, but may require multiple tries. As I Said in the notes, winning this one is something to brag about :-)

Playing the American in a muddy affair? Let me know how you fare. The American don't have it Easy in that one, hehehe.

Often there is not enough time for any scenarios to be properly tested H2H (H2H play takes ages - often way longer than you have time given the builds that need tested). Designers often give their best guess whether a scenario is suitable for H2H but it'll come out in the wash as and when players play the shipped scenarios H2H OR designers once the game is live will craft specific H2H scenarios.
FYI all the scenarios that ship are designed for play against the AI and will have AI plans for either side (although the designer may recommend Scenario X is better played against AI side Y).
Yup, that is exactly right. Some scenarios are tested H2H but not all. You would neet a boatload of people to test all scenarios (multiple times) for H2H. Testing vs the AI for both sides (multiple times) is already a LOT of work, especially for the larger scenarios.
I try to keep H2H in mind when I design, but no guarantees it will play out as a fun H2H scenario. That said, one of my scenarios ("A Muddy Affair") was tested H2H and played out nicely in H2H mode, though it was not specifically designed for it. I got lucky I guess, hehehe.
And like MikeyD said, there is always the QB option, often with maps yanked from the scenarios.
Ow, and very excited about CMFB being finally available for you guys! I hope you enjoy playing it as much as I enjoyed making scenarios for it!

Impressive, as always :-)

You mean you had all your friends over?

Fearlessly old Emrys faced the crowd, smiling
Merciless, the Justicar turns 'round, frowning
and who's the fool who wears the crown
Go down in your own way
And everyday is the right day
And as you rise above the fearlines in his frown
You look down
Hear the sound of the faces in the crowd -
This thread needs cardiopulmonary resuscitation, but I am not going to administer it. Let it die in peace, I say

I am a Floyd fan boiii! When the Tigers broke free deals with Anzio, Italy. Roger Waters' father died in battle there. Maybe in a CMFI module!

Hi Heinrich. Thanks for the kind words! It is always nice to hear that a labor of love is appreciated.
I have not been very active making new scenarios for CMRT, because most of my time was dedicated to making scenarios for the upcoming CMFB release. But when we return to the Ostfront at some time in the near future, I will be back too :-)

*sigh*
Well, someone has to do it. The first post of 2016 in this sad state of affairs that is the Peng thread. My gawd, even the local nursery home sees more action than this place. Emrys' return was much anticipated to stink up....eeh...lively up the place but was ultimately very disappointing (of course it was, duh). Just good enough for a tiny ripple in the Force...eeeh farce. Nothing more. That's it. Pathetic!
I blame Joe Shaw!
*sigh*

It finally happened. Emrys is back.
*Darth Vader mode on*
NNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

Aaaw gawd, that Emrys thing has reared its ugly head again on the forums. Not in this pile of crap that is the cesspool though....yet .
-
Well, I will bother anyway, just to be sure (maybe others have the same question).
The redux version can be found here: http://www.thefewgoodmen.com/tsd3/cm-red-thunder/cm-red-thunder-add-ons-scenarios/cmrt-gates-of-warsaw-redux/
It has many mostly subtle changes, nothing too radical.
The original can still be found in the old BFC repository: http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=314&func=fileinfo&id=3222
Enjoy!

CMFB will be lean on engine improvements. This is somewhat disappointing for some. That is completely understandable. I think probably ALL players like more improvements (I know I do). CMFB will be rich in content (scenarios/campaigns/QB maps/OOB/etc.). Making that content is very labor intensive. I know so from first hand experience.
For me, that justifies the price for this game. But opinions may differ, I respect that. Everybody must decide for himself whether he buys or not. No use for moaning and groaning; it is what it is. I do hope sales will be good though. No Battlefront equals no game, right (*shiver*)...
Engine improvements (Upgrade 4.0) are coming and will probably be ported back into CMFB in due time (like with CMBN). It will just require some more patience.
Meanwhile, there will plenty to enjoy in CMFB.
All in IMHO and for 2 cents only.

If the campaigns are well done and there is say ,twenty very good scenarios, thats almost worth the
money right there. Ever tried making really good scenarios? Its a lot of work.
Amen to that brother.

Meijel indicates, we´ll see some the Peel marsh battles in october 1944. The small german counterattack with the US 7th AD involved initially.
Yay

Choice is good.

Well, a great opportunity has just come up to fill the gaps in your knowledge, it seems! What better way to showcase that new found knowledge than a scenario
Really, I never heard of the Battle of Meijel too before I started work on it. Arnhem yes, Overloon yes, Meijel???? But it is a great subject for scenarios (a campaign even)!
Ow and sorry for derailing this thread.....
