  1. What is the mark mines command for? I complained about this when the game first came out. We thought it would be addressed in a future patch but we're at 11! Kind of sucks when youi lose three fire teams and the AAV they were in to one!

I’m working for the USG. They should make an expansion, combat mission - Zimbabwe, but it would be a short game since they are scared to issue weapons to the Army for fear of an uprising! It is a brutal, nasty, unethical, regime that has totally pillaged an entire country and its people. An example of how well things work here is a DSL that I won't pay for because it costs $2000 to install, then is $200 a month and downloads at 5 kb a second on some days. My dial up is a 4 kb a second! The new 50 trillion note is worth about ten cents....today. These guys haven't got a clue but will do anything t stay in power. Welcome to the 21st century!

  2. I'm living in Zimbabwe and a little behind the times, so don't stone me if someone has already started a thread on this! (There's enough people here already that want to stone me! :)

Playing the campaing scenario on version 1.10, (can't download 1.11, the internet is too slow here!), my Marine Javelins had about a 10% or less hit rate. What up? I know that javelin's have had trouble locking on to hull down tanks because of a poor heat signature, but that was not modelled in the previous Army versions as in those previous games they had about a 90% hit rate. My units were running back to the AAVs and reloading but it was a total waste, I knocked out more tanks with AT-4's. Anyone know why this is occuring?

Also, is the "mark mines" function still not activated even by version 10?! I lost a few engineers, an a M-1 and two AAV's to mines that I could do nothing about except avoid the whole area. I could not get the mark mine bar to light up? Yeah, I know that joke about a Marine mine detector!

  3. Yeah, in Strike Force you can only call the airpower in on a place the FO can actually see; but in reality if you see a bunch of tanks go behind a hill you can call in a grid reference off the map. You don't actually need to have eyes on where you want the planes or helos to go and look for targets.

  4. In the first game played at 1.04, I had the same old "u-turns by the Bradley while in RPG of a building problem" as before, but what really killed me was a squad getting tangled up inside a building so all they did was stay stuck on the first floor for the rest of the game dancing whenever they received an order. I even tried splitting the squad and sending them in different directions, but no luck. What really cut it was when I sent a sniper team into the same building to go to the roof and they decided to stay and dance too! (I should have saved before I did that, but it takes so long to save I've quit doing that much.)

  5. I agree, but I'd just like to be able to send an Apache or A-10 in the general direction of where I just saw or suspect a tank or group of tanks to be. These things are supposed to be able to cruise around the battlefield and kill tanks, not kill them based on an individual fire mission, one tank at a time, under direct guidance from an FO. I find them useless for killing tanks in this game, by the time I have a target vehicle under direct observation and wait the appropriate mission time, something else has already engaged and killed the tank, (or been killed by them.) In many way CM1 had it right when aircraft attacked targets of opportunity without being directed by an FO. I think the CM2 interface works great for artillery but leaves a lot to be desired for aircraft. In the Factory Outlet scenario I sent two heavy attack runs at a building with an apache and the thing missed every time! I finally leveled it using artillery, but what a waste of time and ammo.

  6. Fact as Fiction? Pretty lucky on that fictitious Strike Force background story:

(How about a North Korea expansion!)

Israelis Seized Nuclear Material In Syrian Raid (Mahnaimi, Baxter, LONT)

    Sunday, September 23, 2007

    Times of London

    By Uzi Mahnaimi, Sarah Baxter

Israeli commandos seized nuclear material of North Korean origin during a daring raid on a secret military site in Syria before Israel bombed it this month, according to informed sources in Washington and Jerusalem.

The attack was launched with American approval on September 6 after Washington was shown evidence the material was nuclear related, the well-placed sources say.

They confirmed that samples taken from Syria for testing had been identified as North Korean. This raised fears that Syria might have joined North Korea and Iran in seeking to acquire nuclear weapons.

Israeli special forces had been gathering intelligence for several months in Syria, according to Israeli sources. They located the nuclear material at a compound near Dayr az-Zwar in the north.

  7. I live in Zimbabwe with a massive download rate averaging around 3.9 KB a second. I just received the game yesterday in the mail. After reading about all these bugs I'm amazed it worked on my five year old system! (Albeit with the control w shade fix for the invisible infantry, thanks forum.)

I spent all night downloading 1.3 but after reading about all these bugs, if it crashes it will take me four days to download new drivers, etc before I can play again and I want to play! What do y'all think, should I risk it?

I'm at work so I can't check my exact system specifications. (I have high speed internet here but the firewalls won't let me download.)

I've got a basic dell system from 2002, my GeForce 4 250 drivers aren't updated, I have no service pack two, see why I'm surprised it works!

  8. Yeah, I do like the mods, but the ones I've seen are kinda limited when using vehicles that aren't in the game. For the WWII game I'd been looking forward to see some '39-40 battles, they did say at some point they were going to create one, oh well. In the modern battles a grander scope would have had those super shermans, M-48-60's, Chieftans, etc. I'm going to miss all that!

(A friend of mine here was telling me about a pretty large tank battle between Cuba and South Africa duing the Angola war. Cuba had T-55's and T-62's, SA had modified Chieftans and helicopter gunships. Apparently SA cleaned their clocks. I want to see a mod on that!

My wife is telling to get the hell off the computer, ("what kind of forum are you responding too? Battlefront!!??"), so I can identify with "sixxkiller"!)

  9. I'm living in Zimbabwe and just read about the launching of CMx2. While most if this has probably been discussed weeks ago, I'd be interested to hear some comments on the rational for the choice of genres:

Modern Era: I applaud the choice of the modern era but question the limited topic. (My thinking was Europe, but I grew up in the cold war playing NATO vs Warsaw Pack.) How hard would it it have been to expand a game based on Syria to include something more historical like the '48, '67 and '73 Arab/Israeli Wars, or South Africa/Cuba? Why not include Western terrain ala Africa Corps so we could still have some European scenarios for us Cold War lovers? Was it just to make some extra money for expansion sets? A hypothetical Syrian Campaign seems very limited in scope.

WWII: A repeat of Beyond Overlord for the first WWII game? That's not very imaginative! Whatever happened to the early WWII game which included Poland, France, etc? Ok, limited interest, although I'd love shooting it out with those early tanks! Why not make a redo of at least Africa Corps? That at least allows you to include the Western Front and vehicles from '40 on?
