  1. The real solution to the TBI problem is Self propelled guns, isn't it? You just need something solid between the crew and the muzzle blast.
  2. Murz seems to think the Russians are running extremely short of rope, and pretty much everything else.
  3. In terms of simple AI, or barely even AI, programming two or three drones to play follow the leader is about as simple as it gets. This is unconfirmed but supposedly Hezbollah managed to take out a Merkava by firing two Kornets one second apart on the same laser, Trophy system couldn't see the second missile thru the debris of the first one.
  4. I think it actually hit the vehicle he was closest too, or near enough, anyway.
  5. https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-023-03267-0 We haven't seen anything yet, this new IBM chip architecture is a huge advance in running AI code efficiently. Up twenty five times less power in some applications. They are talking about self driving cars, but that is effectively identical to a drone autopilot. I say this every three days, but we haven't seen anything yet.
  6. https://www.thedefensepost.com/2023/11/10/us-marines-vehicles-lasers/#:~:text=According to the company%2C its, effective ground-based air defense. U.S. seems determined to lose at least one war proving laser based drone defense doesn't work. https://www.defenseone.com/technology/2023/10/army-moves-ahead-ukraine-style-bomber-drones/390918/ On the plus side they are finally getting halfway serious about incorporating the basic drone lessons learned in Ukraine.
  7. Yes, but you trusted everyone not to get drunk or disappear. the second they were out of sight of an officer. I don't think the Russians can make that assumption. And actually they did a little better than most of the Russians we have seen caught on the bullseye, some of them floored it an attempt to be anywhere else when things went boom. That is above average for a mobik.
  8. https://www.reddit.com/r/CombatFootage/comments/17s6yxl/russian_column_stuckabandoned_in_vodyane_an_ural/ It appears mud season is in full swing.
  9. The problem is what it always has been. There needs to be an effective solution to kill the mid altitude observation drones that are guiding these things in. My current a vote is a drone that looks just like the drone it is trying to kill, but has whatever ever sensor works best. Just set them up as aerial kamikazes until someone figure out something better.
  10. If this is real, the guys doing the shooting had someone, or something, following this guy and updating them continuously.
  11. https://www.thedefensepost.com/2023/10/27/ukraine-kamikaze-drone-production/ This seems to be the Ukrainian version of the lancet.
  12. The tech has reached a very strange point where almost everything else on the battlefield is a target for a kamikaze quad copter, and there is no good way to kill kamikaze quad copters/lancet type drones. either someone will solve this problem, and quite possibly win a war or two in the process, or there is just gong to be a lot less of everything but quad-copters out there. There seems to be more obvious technological paths to making the quad-copters more effective, than to defeating them in mass, though.
  13. I think the BTG concept is pretty much dead, but Russia lost the equivalent of a whole one yesterday.

  15. The smart crawly ones are not here yet in any quantity. Sometimes you have to take it one war at a time.
  16. Well yes, but how about a micro bone about the new game?
  17. Yes, but that entire image was built by a man who had lot of daughters. In another timeline where Putin had a comepetent male heir we would already have seen him crown himself Czar, and declare a new dynasty. They would have ginned up a "miraculous" discovery of a female Romanov heir who just happened to wildly in love with Jr, and so on.
  18. It is hard to overstate how different things might be if Putin had a competent son who was 45 or 50 years old. Russias sexism is so strong the Putin has tried far harder to make his daughters invisible than he has tried to position them to take over after him.
  19. Nato needs the capacity to build at least three or four hundred thousand shells per month, and it needs SEVERAL tens of millions of shells in reserve. If those shells expire quietly in a warehouse i thirty or forty years they have done their job perfectly. it isn't THAT much money relative to the overall defense budget. People are just afraid of an add accusing them of buying to many shells and wasting money. We are AT LEAST twenty or thirty million shells short of that being an issue.
  20. Still a many multi million dollar piece of kit that is supposed to fly low. I am profoundly unconvinced that makes any sense.
  21. Never a bad night to watch a Russian ammo dump burn. Edit: A ~120 kilometers behind the front, Where the Russian border meets the Sea of Azov
  22. They are two sides of the same coin, cheap precision that breaks all the assumptions that legacy systems are built around. I keep coming back to the U.S. apparently going ahead with a new manned scout helicopter. That is serious head in the sand denial.
